From all the people who flock to help Xu Feng, I dislike Snake immortal the most, cause he was Su Li adopted son. And it just doesn't sit well with me that he would not stick with Run Yu
I hear you on this one. Of all the characters, Snake Immortal Yan You’s betrayal of Run Yu for Xu Feng made me more irritated than most especially after Run Yu got tortured to save his ass.
How I figure it works out though, is that I personally feel like the Snake Immortal has a problem with Run Yu in general. I think he harbors a deep grudge against Run Yu that he hides behind the whole Xu Feng and Jin Mi thing and later with pretending that he doesn’t want to follow another Su Li. I think that had nothing to do with it.
I think he always needed to strike out at Run Yu because of Su Li.
I think that Su Li really fucked Yan You up. He did so much for her, and suffered so much under her and despite it all, it was clear that she didn’t love him like the son that he tried to be to her. She only saw him like a tool. Now add in her obvious obsession with Run Yu (I hesitate to call it love because it was super unhealthy and horribly damaging and dangerous to Run Yu while he was trapped with her) and you’ve got a spiteful sort of rivalry happening on Yan You’s part. Also add in how Li-er chose to stay with Run Yu over Yan You as well. Li-er chose Run Yu, Su Li always loved Run Yu more and did everything for vengeance and for Run Yu’s sake. To Yan You, Run Yu must have been a person that he hated hearing about/knowing that he’d never live up to him or be as important to the people that Yan You loved as Run Yu was to them and wouldn’t be chosen when pitted against Run Yu to those people either (and he wasn’t, as seen with Li-er and Su Li both). So he took something/someone that Run Yu wanted and loved away from him in a kind of cruel retribution for something that Run Yu really had no control over or part in.
I also think that it’s more than possible that Su Li was just abusive all around to those in her care. With how easily she smacks Yan You around when he brings Run Yu to come meet her, I’d say that wasn’t really just a knee-jerk one-time reaction. Not with a woman who tortured her own child so much that he internalized it and started doing it to himself to get in front of it. It really makes me concerned for Li-er to be honest.
So I think that answers a bit why Snake Immortal always seems to be fucking up Run Yu’s plans. He’s not doing it for Jin Mi and Xu Feng. He’s doing it to get a leg over Run Yu.

Question Guys
I have a really silly question. In Ashes of Love, exactly how does aging work? They live hundreds of thousands of years, and yet after only a few thousand they look like full grown people? Yet their mental maturity is like…tweenagers. Seriously, I’m actually really curious about this.
Dan Zhu makes the comment to Run Yu that’s he’s growing older so he should consider getting married…but he’s gotta still be a baby if they live 100,000 years and he’s like 4,000 right? Maybe less? Let’s say 4k just for easy math and my sanity sake. We know that Xu Feng is younger than him, clearly not by much since they look pretty much about the same age-ish in the flashbacks and in modern time so…I’m gonna say 3k. I’m not sure if the show gives me better ages, but right now I’m just running with these numbers. Jin Mi though, is less than a thousand right? I mean, her mother wanted to protect her from some trial in her first thousand years of life right? Am I remembering this right?
So recap.
100,000 year life expectancy
Run Yu = 4,000
Xu Feng = 3,000
Jin Mi = 1,000
Verdict….SOMEONE GET THESE BABIES A BLANKET AND PUT THEM TO BED WITH A NICE BEDTIME STORY! I mean, if I just do simple math and say that the 100,000 years is like 100 human years and let’s say that’s our normal life expectancy just for math reasons once more:
Run Yu is 4. Xu Feng is 3. Jin Mi is fucking 1 years old. Who is trying to marry these babies off? All of a sudden the whole show makes a lot more sense when you think of emotionally stunted children running around and breaking everything.
But how does the maturity thing work? How long did they stay in their younger growing up forms? To look like an adult snack at 4 has gotta be some strange growth timelines; but how does the mental growth work? Not to even get started that Run Yu is dealing with some serious abuse related trauma in his formative years which is just gonna fuck with his mind/maturity/mental health but how does all of that work? We know that he’s been present in the courts, and has had the realm of night for a while (and now I can’t help but picture their titles/responsibilities like house chores and I’m laughing over here) and he clearly has the mental maturity of a human adult (or at least a teenager that was forced to grow up faster). Not to mention, they sent Xu Feng to war at younger than 3. Sure, he doesn’t have the daily emotional abuse/physical abuse/abandonment/ostracizing/seclusion that Run Yu has – but fucking war is no fucking joke. Xu Feng’s gotta have his own traumas layered in all of that (and the scars we see on his body have got to have their own horrible stories poor baby). And that makes Jin Mi’s naïve stupidity make more sense. Does anyone wanna weigh in on this? How do we think all of this works?

Reunion: The Sound of Providence aka Lost Tomb 3 Reboot Review
Tumblr media
I’m going to be absolutely honest – I was waiting a long time and had such large hopes for this series continuation/reboot.
I got into The Lost Tomb back with 1, which I actually was bored going through it and thought it was lazy/kinda all over the place/didn’t actually know what was going on and neither did the show or the characters and actually almost passed on The Lost Tomb 2 because of it. However, I think I was bored one day or who knows why, maybe it popped up in my Amazon Prime account to watch and I went ‘You know what? Sure, I’ll watch a few episodes’ – and let me tell you that I’m glad I did because I adore The Lost Tomb 2.
After it was done, and having watched Guardian/Granting You A Dreamlike Life/Shaw Lang/Various Other Zhu Yi Long shows and movies – I heard that he was going to be Wu Xie and I was like ‘Did I please god? Is the universe truly this happy with me?’ The thought of him being one of my more favorite characters was awesome!
…And then the reboot came out…and I’ve been less pleased ever since. To be honest, I’ve even stopped watching it. There are things that just make no sense, and are just kinda eh and I’m sad that I had such high expectations for it and got let down on so many levels.
So here’s my review of why the Lost Tomb Reboot has fallen down to the bottom rung of my watched dramas for right now. WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!!
#1: Blind Sunglasses and his Mute Girlfriend.
Don’t get me wrong, they’re cute. I ship them. I just don’t want to watch what feels like 70% of the fricken show about them when this is supposed to be about Wu Xie and Fatty and Little Master and some tombs and shit. I started skipping through their story and let me tell you, I’d lose a third of the episode at minimum and still hadn’t lost any understanding of what was going on.
#2: What the Fuck is Going On With Wu Xie’s Family/Friends? AKA Worst People Ever.
I’m still very, very confused.
Wu Xie is dying. Everyone knows that he has 3 months at max to live. It’s his final 3 months of life. Little Master came down from wherever it was that he was at to come be with Wu Xie during this time because it is the end of Wu Xie’s candle.
So will someone please tell me why Little Master shows up for a few episodes…and then flounces off with Uncle Erbai? Erbai sends Wu Xie away and Little Master just decides…yup, I’m gonna stay over here instead of go with the guy that I came down here for because he’s dying and this might be my last chance to hang out with him. Not just that, all of a sudden Fatty is chasing (…a little creepily and extreme, I’m sorry but I gotta say it) a new love interest and I get that he can’t get into the warehouse with Wu Xie but all of a sudden his whole focus is on this dying little girl when…dude…your best fucking friend is dying in front of you and you’re worried about this new person you don’t know and have no connection with because you liked her mom back in what, middle school? Now is not the time for this shit.
Not just that, but Uncle Erbai gets angry with Wu Xie and…kicks him out of his house? Takes away all of his money? Tells everyone not to trade with Fatty or Wu Xie for anything? What the Actual Fuck? Wu Xie has 3 months and should be taking it easy and yet you do this?
And somehow now Wu Xie is all alone in the warehouse place with some new character who I don’t trust in the slightest but I think she’s kinda funny in an obnoxious/plot convenient/I-wouldn’t-be-surprised-if-she-was-evil sort of way and Wu Xie is getting beat up, passing out, getting worse in his sickness and NO ONE FROM HIS FRIENDS/FAMILY/IRON TRIANGLE IS HERE WITH HIM?!?!?! He’s all alone in there, surrounded by enemies and he can’t reach out to any of them for help? Does Little Master even know that he’s in there? Seriously, where has Little Master been for the last fifteen episodes because I haven’t really seen him.
So honestly, I gave up on the show because I grew tired of seeing Wu Xie alone and who the fuck knows what the hell Little Master is doing off with Erbai and Fatty is obsessed (and not in a good way) about the hairdresser lady and I get that Blind and Mute are dancing around each other please stop showing me and I was like….if this is a reboot where you’re trying to jumpstart it for more…you’ve fallen flat because I don’t give a damn about anything happening and I came in already ready to care.
