I hate that the "x reader" or "x Y/N" style of fanfic has become sooooo popular, partially because it's just not for me and partially because they clog general non-fic related tags and those authors seem allergic to the "read more" function on this website, but ALSO because I believe that you should have to go through the trouble of creating an absolutely batshit self-insert character, with a backstory that makes no sense and a name that doesn't really gel with the aesthetics of the universe. Legolas and Aragorn should be in a love triangle with Kylie, the angsty sixteen year old half-human half-elf and inexplicable tenth member of the Fellowship. Do the WORK. If everyone was doing "Y/N" nonsense back in the day, there would be no Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way, or probably Bella Swan. These are important women. They deserve to be named, confusingly and with no regard for the fictional world they inhabit.

This sounds like a shitpost but people should be allowed to be horny. As in, sexuality is just part of life for most people and there’s no reason for consensual sexual behavior to be punished. A celebrity getting “caught” at a sex club shouldn’t be a scandal. No one should be fired for having a fetlife profile outside of work. Nudes getting leaked shouldn’t be career-ending. Denying and hiding (consensual) sexual interests doesn’t make anyone more professional, it just makes everyone more repressed. And sterilizing ourselves to be better work drones isn’t productive, it’s just creepy. I’d rather my surgeon get absolutely railed on camera and come to work in a good mood, frankly.

Forcibly locking people up in psych wards isn't the progressive alternative to the prison system it's often made out to be. Losing your basic rights and autonomy isn't less traumatizing when we refer to it as "treatment". If the alternative to locking people up in a bigoted, capitalist, abusive prison system becomes forced treatment in a bigoted, capitalist, abusive psych ward then that's not a real alternative at all, that's just two ends of the same beast.

People really are ludicrously fucking stupid. A former colleague and (ex) Facebook friend posted a status saying “If I was 20 years younger and healthier, I wouldn’t stay in this immigrant infested country.”

And that underpins entirely the insane hypocrisy and racism of this issue. He’s so angry about immigrants living in this country, he would emigrate to another country if he could, therefore becoming an immigrant, but presumably, it’s fine for him to do it, because he’s white and British and he has a god given right to live wherever the fuck he wants, a right he very easily denies others.

And he’s far from alone in his sense of exceptionalism. British people in their millions happily move to other parts of the world, becoming “ex pats” and have the actual fucking audacity to whinge about people daring to do the opposite and deciding to make their home here for a variety of reasons. You can’t have it both ways. Either leaving your own country to live in another is a good and valuable thing to do, or it isn’t.

As for me, I would rather live in a country full of immigrants than a country full of racist hypocrites.

I cannot properly express my love for the fact that Susie heard "Darkners are objects" and decided to start treating the objects as the darkners, referring to the TV as Tenna and the Halloween mannequin as Jack. like genuinely such an incredible thing to add to her character.

the attitude with which "welcome to womanhood" is said really does give the lie to the fact that most non-transfems see us less as women who experience womanhood every day of our lives and rather see us as something closer to that tvtrope of the misogynistic boy who tries living as a girl for a day to prove how easy it is and ends up shocked and appalled at the everyday difficulties women face before giving up and admitting they want to go back to "normal"
