I do appreciate my followers putting their heads together to try and suggest ways that a car could sigh

you say "older" cars like gas-powered vehicles are already ancient 😅 like yes we are as a society slowly transitioning to EVs (which we probably should've done a long time ago) but I think right now most people (at least in america) still own gas-powered cars. and gas-powered cars, yes, have a tailpipe where the exhaust comes out

and if the engine is running then there's constantly exhaust coming out of it

I can't even say "he sighed" unless I make it clear that he's sighing in his head, basically

also I'm not sure if I can even phrase it like that cuz he doesn't have a head either

I just realized car stan gets shooshpapped in this chapter. it wasn't until like a day after I wrote that scene that I realized that's what it was

My chapters are pretty short if that helps. I understand not having the attention span to get through a long chapter (I've put off reading updates on ao3 fics for that reason myself) but it might help that mine tend to come in smaller chunks

looks like @cameforstuff already linked the prequel fic but this is the main fic. I did list the prequel as being the "first" work in the series because that's chronologically true and it feels weird to put it after the main one, but I'd still call the prequel fic more of a bonus than a required reading for the main one

besides, stan's not a car in the prequel. that one is specifically what happened BEFORE he was a car XD

that only works if he's in motion 😅 and has a reason to stop

imagine trying to match up his mental sighs with red lights and stop signs. cuz those are normally the times when you feel a car do that thing you just described XD

anytime I've tried to really think hard about which car body parts would correspond with certain human body parts it just gets weird real fast. like ok I guess his wheels are like his limbs but other than that I mean. what's the trunk, then? his ass? well great now it can't be used for storage without making things weird

honestly one of the most frustrating things about writing car stan is that I can't say things like "his heart was pounding" or "his blood ran cold" or even like "he rolled his eyes" unless I do it in a tongue-in-cheek way where I acknowledge that he doesn't have any of those things anymore

I can't even really say "he froze" or "he went rigid" cuz he's already rigid. he's a chunk of metal. his new body doesn't have a lot of points of articulation

I'm gonna have to include a list of songs used in the notes at the end of the next chapter of car stan so that you can know exactly what his radio "dialogue" is supposed to sound like
