He thought he’d be in for another boring gathering surrounded by dragons older than him, his father and his grandfather, but not at all. Dracthyr, drakonid and other mortals alike were dancing and singing and eating. He could see orcs and worgen laughing loudly together, and even some gnomes tinkering on what looked to be toy devices, playing party tricks for nearby goblins. Simple, yet long-desired peace.

apologies for such a late update on my fic. i haven't given up on it! there's more to say in the notes, but i thought i should at least say thank you to anyone that enjoys reading this fic ☺️ life kept getting in the way whenever i tried picking it up again, but there's someone that left comments in my fic AND in my posts & it really encouraged me to make time to write new chapters 🥹

i'm writing chapter 5 as we speak! i really like spending time in the dragon isles & this fic is the best way to do it. i hope you enjoy hanging out in there with me, too 💓

something thats sort of fascinating to me re: anduin wrynn is that for years (YEARS) players were clowning on him for being kinda gay since pandaria and now the criticism has shifted to "he cries all the time, he keeps complaining" etc etc which is very fun considering him as a character since BFA is about a) cracking under pressure b) not wanting to be here and MOST IMPORTANTLY c) not being able to perform

this is sort of the guiding arc of his character because he struggles to perform traditional masculinity and is unable to become his father. in a metanarrative sense its fun that the same principle of his role in the story is also the criticism lobbed at him: "why cant you be like this or that! why do you struggle!"

the response to that is that he fucking hates being king and no amount of soulsearching or finding the light again is going to change that; but posing that idea just begs the question: how do you resolve that? how do you manage hating your duty and your fathers legacy? and i think thats where the meat of his character is. until then, its very fun to see the same criticisms anduin has towards himself echoed in the playerbase

the war within sidequests are not hitting........ i was rewatching a dragonflight playthrough & remembered all the cute lil quests like that one abt that green dragon grieving his son so much that he chose to stay in ardenweald in lieu of ysera bc living without his family just made him miserable..... same for that uktulut chieftain & how his questline was abt dealing with the grief that comes with losing a pet..... or that questline of the red drakonid making offerings to the forest so she could be blessed for her job as an egg caretaker..... all those quests felt full of life & emotion, but i'm not getting that from tww side quests

i mean it's nice to have all that new lore & stuff but it feels?? empty?? idk!
