Here are my contributions to the DBDA charity calendar by @alltimefail and @savethedeadboys :)

They both take place in what we call a "bloquinho" here in Brasil that happens during the Carnaval holiday. There's is a sequence of events here: Charles and Cat King accidentally chose the same costume, had a petty argument, that ended up with Cat King being convinced by Edwin to change his costume, which he did and chose a even more elaborate jaguar costume :D

Os dois se passam num bloquinho de Carnaval, e tem lore: o Charles e o Rei Gato escolheram a mesma fantasia acidentalmente e ficaram tretando no meio da pracinha até o Edwin convencer o gado do Gato a trocar de fantasia, mas o Rei Gato aproveitou a oportunidade pra fazer uma fantasia de oncinha muito mais elaborada que a do Charles :D

On the one hand yes making Charles relive his trauma was a dick move and also she was an antagonist for nearly the whole season, but I don’t think we give the Night Nurse enough credit for going “no hard feelings about beating the heck out of me and feeding me to a giant fish”

I mean, she was fine, yes. But a) Charles didn’t mean for her to be, that was fully a murder attempt and more importantly b) her being fine wasn’t a foregone conclusion even from her point of view. As far as I can tell if Kashi hadn’t happened to be there she would have spent the next few hundred years stuck in the belly of a fish, which is fucked up, tbh.

But she gets out and finds them and is basically just like “no worries about the fish thing, let’s get you on to Heaven, spit spot” and then when she realizes things are hinky and not going as planned she does Charles a FAVOR. And not a small one! One that could probably get her in a lot of trouble! One that puts her and her life’s work in danger! Because Charles asked her to and Charles looks very polite! When her only previous interaction with him was him attempting her premeditated murder!

Like. It’s no wonder Charles immediately assigns her a semi-affectionate nickname even though by all rights he should want to murder her again for trying to take Edwin to Hell. She’s possibly the first authority figure that not only wants the best for him, he actively and deliberately harmed her and she STILL wants the best for him.

The musical is so much gayer than the movie. Like musical madhel is canon while movie madhel is way more subtext… SO TELL ME WHY THE PROMO FOR THE MOVIE IS 10 TIMES GAYER THAN ANY PROMO FOR THE MUSICAL WAS???

Like switching them would make way more fucking sense with the actual content of what they’re advertising. Because if I look at the movie promo pictures, I would suspect that MadHel is much gayer and even canon in the movie. With the promo pictures for the musical I have the opposite, like I’d expect more of a movie MadHel approach…

What I’m saying is: make Megan and Jen recreate these pictures, please and thank you

I have such a love-hate relationship with the night nurse.

Like on one hand she can be funny at times, i love her style, her character and motives can be really interesting, and i also find the interactions between her and kashi and her growth from their interactions really sweet.

But on the OTHER hand i hate her for what she did to charles in episode 4. Making charles relive his literal death and abuse is a whole other level of fucked up. Not to mention her saying things like “You can’t make it better. You never made it better than you died.” WHILE he is going through the trauma again is actually horrible. It also puts into perspective how comfortable she is doing this to charles. Like, has she done this to other dead children? And how many dead children has she done it to, to the point where she is fine doing it in the first place without trying any other methods of persuasion first?

And a lot of the things the night nurse says to edwin and charles to convince them to come with her come off as down right cruel. Like “Edwin knows where he’s going” “Well, we disagree on that point (On the matter of Edwin, a dead child, BEING SENT BACK TO HELL)” “You don’t belong here anymore” are the worst things to say when trying to convince someone to move on with you?? At least imo??

The fact that when the Night Nurse comes to collect the boys Charles makes a very conscious step directly in front of Edwin. Like he is already in front of Edwin, of to the side slightly but in front nonetheless, and a couple steps ahead of him but when he pulls out his cricket bat he steps back to be an arms length away and standing directly in front of Edwin

love how completely and uncompromisingly mad panjabi!rani is. like maybe she was mad before but now she's lived through countless horrors and can't even conceal the madness behind a facade of sanity anymore she's got a 1000 yard stare and a crazy grin and this nasty ice-cold syrupiness to everything she does you cannot predict what she's gonna do anymore bc she's like a predator acting cuddly to fool her prey before she strikes

Whenever I think about Dead Boy Detectives I actual feel sick. What do you mean we never find out where Niko is? What do you mean we don’t get to see the boys work with Crystal and the Night nurse in London? What do you mean we’re never gonna see them again?
