sourires-et-masques:
Hannah was talking more and drinking less tonight. The flute of champagne held by her slender fingers had been half empty for some time but, she hadn’t made a move to finish it off as she moved from one group to the next. Conversations ranged from small talk to debates and Hannah flitted in and out of these groups with ease, a smile forever on her lips while bright eyes kept a check on her surroundings.
“A lovely evening, really. It’s such a wonderful and much needed break from everyday routine.”
Any music and conversation paired together wasn’t the best pair for Kate’s hearing loss. In almost any other situation, she would stick to the back corner of the room, but she was trying to get around the room and mingle a bit. She still felt a little out of her element, but considering her element was the complete opposite of a fancy gala, Kate was a little proud of herself.
“The best part is the free food, if I must say, not necessarily the whole mingling thing.”

Favorite movie?
“Inception! Half because of Leonardo DiCaprio, and the other half because it’s honestly kind of ridiculous, but the cinematography and all that jazz is pretty cool.”

It was way too early in the morning for Kate. She usually refused to roll out of bed before 6:30AM. Needless to say, Kate wasn’t happy when a call from Diamond Corp woke her up at the ungodly hour of 5AM, saying that there was a “computer issue,” and that she was to come into work as soon as possible.
She got ready and left her apartment--begrudgingly--at around 5:30. Kate ran on tired-fog-brain-autopilot and got her morning coffee, the most essential part of her normal morning routine. All was well, besides the fact that she was awake and moving at an unholy hour, and the streets were much less busy.
Kate’s autopilot-brain wasn’t too in-tune with her hearing (which wasn’t at all great in the first place), and it took her a moment for her to realize that the person next to her at a crosswalk was speaking to her.
“I’m sorry, what’d you say?” Kate said, slightly embarrassed.

“Neither. I want to be the sidekick of the hero or the villain. I think sidekick would be a better fit for me, personally.”

What's the last thing you apologized for?
“Truly apologize, or just saying sorry because you almost stepped on someone’s foot or something? Because the second option happens at least ten times a day. I think the last thing I truly apologized for was running into someone and spilling their coffee. I felt bad, it made a mess everywhere.”
