Chapter 14

Excerpt: He could see the battery of his phone going down under the combined effort of the navigation app and the flash. But he almost made it. When the phone hit 5%, the flashlight went out, the screen also darkened so far that it was almost impossible to illuminate anything with it. Luckily, the full moon was bright enough that Jisung wasn’t tapsing around in complete darkness. But the shadows of the trees, bushes and rocks around him looked even creepier like this. [...] A series of howls ripped through the silence of the night, startling Jisung so hard that he dropped the phone again. He didn’t have time to think about what any of this meant. As howls slowly faded out, it was replaced by a low growl just behind Jisung. He didn’t want to turn around. He felt like he had a heart attack. He would die, for sure. Still, his feet moved slowly to face the threat.

Skz Werewolf AU Chapter 13 Excerpt: Minho stayed with him until deep into the night. They had put on a movie that was quickly forgotten when Jisung felt Minho’s mouth on his neck. His breath hitched when Minho started gently sucking and nibbling on his sensitive skin. An undignified whine left his mouth against his will. He felt Minho’s teeth as he smiled against his neck. “Did you like that?” He whispered, as if Jisung was in any state to give him a proper answer. “M-Minho…” “Do you want me to stop?” “No!” He said slightly too loud before quickly getting his voice under control, “No… I like it.” “Good.” He licked against his skin, sending shivers down Jisung’s spine. Minho’s kisses slowly moved away from Jisung’s neck, up to his ear. Jisung startled slightly when he picked him up effortlessly to turn him around in his lap. His mind was still caught on how strong Minho was when the kisses wandered along his jaw up to his mouth. He still found himself addicted to the feeling of Minho’s tongue against his. Jisung had never tasted alcohol, but this is what he imagined being drunk would feel like. His lips felt a bit sore when they finally separated and he put his head on Minho’s shoulder. His fingers found their way into Jisung’s hair again, scratching his scalp as he did so often.

do fic readers know that their comments actually influence the course of the story sometimes? i don't mean in a "you need to write it this way because i say so 😡" type of comment, i mean when people are asking questions or really engaging with the plot and the themes in the comments they sometimes bring up things that i didn't even think of, or dig into parts of the story that i've overlooked, or get really interested/fixated on something i was going to just kind of glance over--and it has me going 'oh wait that's actually really interesting, that's a good point' and fully adding or tweaking or changing things about the story going forward. i'm literally adding an entire additional chapter to something right now because someone's comment had me like "oh i didn't dig into that as much as i could have." you have impact!

Chapter 9

Excerpt: “So, how was your day?” “Don’t get me started… I slept like shit because it was so hot in my room but I didn’t want to open the window because I think I heard those animals everyone is talking about outside.” “You heard them outside?” “Yes! And they got really close to the house. My mom and I found a dead deer in our driveway this morning!” Minho choked on his coffee, coughing for a few seconds. “Oh shit, are you okay?” Jisung asked. “Yes, sorry. A dead deer, you say?” Jisung nodded, “It was right in front of the car, staring at us with its creepy dead eyes.” He shuddered at the memory. “And the smell, ugh, it was so disgusting.” He looked at Minho, who didn’t say anything, but furrowed his brow like he was trying to remember something. When he noticed that Jisung was looking at him, he quickly took another sip of his coffee.

Chapter 8

Excerpt:

As soon as they put the guitar in the trunk of the car, Jisung couldn’t hold himself back anymore and hugged Minho tightly. Minho’s strong arms held him steadily, bringing him comfort in the same way a weighted blanket would. He wanted Minho to hold him forever. Oh God, there was his crush again. He had to force himself to let go.

“Come on, let’s get you home. You probably can’t wait to try out your guitar.”

“I don’t think I’ll do anything else, to be honest.”

“That’s good, I’m glad I don’t have to worry about you.”

That was strange.

“Why would you worry about me?”

“Haven’t you heard? There are wild animals running around town. As long as you stay home, you’ll be safe.”

It was nice that he worried about him like that. Jisung liked feeling taken care of.

“I don’t really do random night walks, so I’m probably good. Those coyotes or bears or whatever won’t get to me.”

“Very smart, now come on. Let’s go.”

Chapter 7

Excerpt: The present was so neatly wrapped that Jisung felt a bit bad about ripping the paper. It took him a second to realize what it was because it couldn’t be. “Is that an amp? Did you get me an amp?” He looked at Minho who seemed to be just as excited by simply watching him as Jisung was getting the gift. “You told me you wanted to get an electric guitar,  I thought you might need one.” “No way, thank you!” Before he could stop himself he ran into Minho’s arms, hugging him tightly. “I’m glad you like it.” Minho’s strong arms wrapped around him. He felt Minho take a deep breath before finally letting him go. Jisung turned back to the amp. “I can’t wait to test it, maybe Mom can drive me to the store tomorrow to pick up the guitar.” “If not, I have time.” Jisung didn’t know what he’d done to deserve Minho. Before he’d shown up, Jisung was convinced that Felix would be the only person that could like him.

Excerpt: He couldn’t do anything but stare at Minho with wide eyes and he sat down on the armchair next to the couch. Minho looked at him with a grin, “Did I startle you?” “I… I mean…” Of course, he was startled! What kind of question was that? He just got princess-carried by a strong, handsome man and now he had to deal with that. Oh God, Minho was probably waiting for a proper answer but he was drawing a blank. “You don’t have to say anything. It’s cute how flustered you get.” “Wh-what?” He hit his head earlier. He must have. Because how else could he explain this? Minho just called him cute. Him. Cute. He was dreaming. Soon his alarm would wake him up and send him back to his sad little life. He’d read once that you couldn’t count your fingers in a dream. He looked down at his hands and, nope, all ten were there. “I called you cute.” Minho repeated, his eyes were watching him with genuine curiosity, waiting for a reaction from Jisung. “Why?” Jisung mumbled. “Why am I calling you cute? Because you are, of course.” Jisung automatically shook his head. It wasn’t true. He knew it wasn’t true.

He had talked to this guy, had a single positive interaction with someone, and his mind latched onto it. He felt so pathetic. Who just cried to a stranger about how nobody liked them? But Minho’s eyes had been so warm and caring, like he didn’t seem to mind at all… Why would he pretend to care for some stranger? He even paid for the hot chocolate and cake for Jisung. But why would he do that? It didn’t make sense…

Excerpt: The stranger pushed the glass of water into his hand, waiting patiently until Jisung had a sip of that too. “Why-?” His voice was still a bit rough, his nose was stuffy and he was sure he would start crying again any second now. “Why am I doing this?” The stranger asked. Jisung nodded. “You just broke down crying in a coffee shop, telling me that everyone hates you. I just feel like you need this. And for the record, I don’t hate you, so I can hardly be everyone.” “You don’t even know me…” Jisung muttered. That was the only reason the stranger was nice to him. He didn’t know how creepy he was, how awkward and- “Maybe I want to get to know you.” “You don’t…” “Well, too late, I’ve already made up my mind and you can’t do anything about it.” Jisung didn’t even know what to say. His mouth was just slightly agape as he stared at the blurry form of the stranger. What was wrong with this guy that he wanted to befriend an ugly, crying mess like him? The stranger handed him another tissue for Jisung to clean his runny nose. “Have another drink.” The stranger said, pushing the cup towards him again and Jisung couldn’t really do anything but comply. “Are you hungry?” He then asked, looking towards the coffee shop’s display of cakes and pastries. “Stop…” Jisung finally managed to get out. “I don’t even know your name…” “Oh, you’re right. Sorry.” The stranger said with genuine surprise. “I’m Minho, and your name is…?”

“What the fuck did you just say to him?” Felix asked, his voice so low it was almost a growl. His voice rarely dropped so low, Felix used a low register like this mostly as a sort of party trick to impress people with how low he could actually go.

Jisung could do nothing but watch as Felix, with his small statue and skinny arms, held the much bigger and more muscular Kunwoo by the front of his shirt, pressed to the lockers.

“F-Felix…” Kunwoo stammered, “I don’t know what you mean, Jisung and I were just joking around.” He was clearly wondering how exactly Felix was overpowering him like that.

“Joking around? Do you think I’m an idiot?”

Kunwoo wheezed slightly as Felix pushed him harder against the lockers. “I can’t breathe… Lix…”

“Stay away from Jisung.”

Jisung wasn’t sure if he’d ever see Felix be this furious with anyone. “Okay… okay I’ll stay away… Let me go…”

But Felix didn’t let go, he pushed even harder.

“Lix…” Jisung said, a bit scared of seeing him like this, hoping to snap him out of whatever was going on with him. Kunwoo didn’t say anything and just tried to get Felix to let him go but he wouldn’t budge. He started to look a little blue in the face by now.

“Lix, you’re choking him… You need to let him go…”

“How long has he been hurting you, Jisung? Why didn’t you tell me?” Felix still sounded unbelievably angry. He made no move to let Kunwoo go, whose struggling got weaker and weaker.
