In that moment, every cell in Touya’s body froze as he stared down into the face of someone he never thought he would see again. His baby. His sweet little baby. Please. Please, someone, tell him he wasn’t dreaming that this wasn’t another one of his psychotic episodes. That, despite the circumstance, Haruki had been the only good thing that had happened to Touya since he had escaped from the hellhole Mama had raised him in. That woman, how he hated her. The things she did to him. Things that made him want to scream every time he thought about them too much. Of course, everyone knew about the videos she had forced him into and even the violent castration she had forced upon him when he was barely nine. However, the worst thing she ever did to him was something he never told anyone. Even now, the nightmares he had because of it were brutal. Still, it was because of what she did to him that Haruki was able to exist, and Touya would never regret him.

The serial killer softly kneeled down in front of the five year old gently, reaching out to touch Haruki’s face and to his shock? Amazement? He was solid. He could actually feel him.

“Y-y-you’re real. You’re actually real.”

Touya stared up at Kaiji for ages, his mouth opening and closing like he wanted to say something but couldn’t. A loud sob finally left Touya’s mouth as he pulled Haruki in for a hug. Years of guilt and sorrow finally broke out.

“I-I’m so sorry I wasn’t strong enough to stop them from taking you away.” Touya openly wept as he held Haruki so close, as he was afraid he’d be ripped out of his arms. “I-I-I wanted to keep you, but they said I wasn’t in any condition to care for you.”

That was all Touya managed to get out before he was overtaken by an emotional breakdown. Constantly crying and hugging Haruki so hard that people thought he’d crush the poor boy. Haruki didn’t mind, though he was just so concerned that Touya was crying so much trying to wipe away the tears falling down his face.

Kaiji, seeing that Touya was going to be like this for a while, gently helped him get off the floor, making sure Haruki didn’t leave his arms. Though the streamer doubted it, given how the blue haired male was holding onto him like an anchor. Still Touya deserved some alone time with Haruki.

“Let’s get you somewhere more private for right now, dear.”

— August 20th, 2025, Katsushika Division —

Faint music played in the background as the Kobe Division team known as Lovesick as well as their respective siblings shuffled around, decorating the spacious venue with various pink and black birthday decorations, Ren was stringing up balloons that Ayano and Ryōhei had blew up, the two of them having a (one sided) competition to see who can make the biggest balloon only to get scolded by their big brother after the fifth one popped.

Max was busy carrying and placing the tables and chairs into the designated spots Kaiji had marked while Akumu was covering the tables in pink festive cloth, the two of them were in charge of doing the more heavy lifting (literally) of the more heavier items such as furniture, props, and decorations which both brothers did so dutifully but not with some slight complaining on Max’s end about how the bright colors and over abundance of glitter were overwhelming his senses.

Finally, there was Kaiji himself, who self assigned himself the most important job of all…telling the others what to do while he was constantly checking his phone. Sure, he helped out with adding the finishing touches on most decorations and saved Nagisa from spilling thousands of dollars worth of food and sweets all over himself but he always went back to being glued onto his phone afterwards, an uncharacteristic serious look on his face.

Oddly enough, the rest of the group didn’t have much to say about it aside from some slight ribbing on Nagisa’s end which would earn him a death glare from his older brother. They were all well aware that Kaiji wanted this party to go as smooth as possible, not just for his beloved’s sake but for a reason more special, hell, perhaps even more special than the proposal he orchestrated back in February.

“Tou-chan and the others just got permission from their parole officers to let them stay out after dark. I sent the address of this location, they’re gonna get ready and be here in maybe a few hours, is everything ready?” Kaiji finally looked up from his device to stare all over the venue to find it fully furnished and ready, the rest of his team were already in their best outfits and finished with the prep, now relaxing at nearby tables.

“Yes, Kaiji, everything’s ready, you’ve asked that like four times now.” Nagisa sighed at his older brother, leaning against his hand propped up on the table.

“Everything needs to be fucking perfect, Nagisa! Not only is this Touya’s birthday but we’re getting married literally next month! Plus I still need to give him his present, Mom’s taking her sweet time getting them ready for me, it’d be already midnight by the time she finally gets here!” Kaiji hissed back, hand going up to irritatingly tug and pull on his snowy strands of hair.

“Hey, hey, everything’s going to be fine, Kai, Touya’s going to absolutely love this, just like he loves everything you’ve done for him.” Ren walked up to the crossdresser and gently got him to stop yanking at his scalp. “Honestly, I think this takes the cake out of everything you’ve done for him since you two got together, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I might have to start taking notes from you.”

“I still can’t believe you actually did all of that just for Touya, that’s…some serious dedication there, maybe I was wrong about you not being serious about relationships.” Nagisa reluctantly admitted.

Kaiji huffed, mildly offended. “If I couldn’t do this much, then I’d be a shitty fiancé, nothing is too much for my beloved Tou-chan, besides, I’m considering this as practice for when we decided to have more in the future.”

The snow haired streamer sighed softly as his mind decided to take him down memory lane on how he even got into this situation in the first place.

— February 24th, 2025, Kobe Division —

“So let me get this straight, you want me to find a kid?”

Akari raised her eyebrow at the white haired male in front of her, the two of them were in a small room separated from the ongoing party on the roof, sighed redhead girl was confused and a tad suspicious when Kaiji finally detached himself from a still emotional Touya to approach her and asked to speak in private, honestly Akari didn’t know what she was expecting but this was certainly not it though she would be lying if she said she wasn’t curious, just what exactly was he planning?

Kaiji looked determined but there was something else hidden behind his eyes, something dark and a bit vengeful. “Look, I know this sounds weird-“

“That’s putting it fucking mildly.” Akari snorted, ignoring the look the crossdresser gave her.

Kaiji sighed and continued, “But this is very important, that kid is special for reasons I can’t disclose right now, I just need to know where he is so I can find him and bring him back here, please Akari, this means a lot to me and you’re the only person I know who’s good at hacking and tracking things down.”

Akari went silent as she contemplated what Kaiji had said, this was definitely serious that much she knew, just what exactly is this kid to Kaiji? A relative? Something else? Though, she really had no reason to deny him, they weren’t good friends or anything but she’s come to respect the older man as one of the few-and I mean few-people she could trust.

Sighing, Akari nodded her head and pulled out her phone, already getting to work on finding information. “Alright fine, this kid got a name? Any physical details you have on them?”

Kaiji’s shoulders sagged with relief in time with his sigh, thankful that Akari is taking a chance on this. “Yeah, his name is Haruki, he’s a boy with blonde hair and pink eyes, was born sometime in the year of 20XX.”

Akari’s eyebrows furrowed as she entered in the information, eyes scanning over the pages of results she’s gathered in such a short time. “No last name?”

The arsonist raised an eyebrow when she heard Kaiji go silent for a moment, thinking that he didn’t hear her, she was about to ask again when he cut her off.

“Haruki Souma…try that.”

Bingo. Akari’s eyes lit up as one single search result caught her eye, it was an exact one to one match with the description Kaiji provided which she showed to him with a grin. “There. Five years old, male with blonde hair and pink eyes, looks like he’s living in some old run down orphanage.”

Kaiji looked at the picture of the small and scrawny boy with reverence, lips twitching into a wide grin. “Send me the information.”

A few taps on her phone later. “Done.”

Kaiji breathlessly giggled, the sound coming off a tad bit unhinged. “Thank you thank you Akari, I owe you big time for this.”

“Oh I know, I’ll make sure to let you know when I come to collect my due but for now, we should probably head back to the party before everyone becomes suspicious and Touya-nii gets all emotional again.” Putting her phone away, Akari gestured with her head to the door, Kaiji nodded, the smile never leaving his face as he waited for Akari to exit before taking his leave a moment later.

— Later —

It had been around a month since that conversation and after some digging through any and all information he could find about the orphanage, even burning through most of his connections just for a tiny scrap of information which lead him to his current situation. Here he was, standing in front of the Heaven’s Home Orphanage feeling like he was about to vomit, now it was starting to come back to him.

This was the same orphanage Touya was a part of.

The same orphanage his parents had abandoned him to.

The same orphanage that had sold him off to that monster of a woman.

The name was familiar because Touya had told him so many horror stories of what went on behind those walls, the number of children that would mysteriously go ‘missing’ and never found while the ‘lucky’ ones were sold to whoever without so much as a background check or a welfare check in on the child.

And now, here he was in the flesh right in front of that very same building that looked like it was about to cave in on itself if the wind so much as blew in its direction too hard.

Trying to get directions was a nightmare and actually driving to the building was even worse, it was almost as if it was done on purpose to keep from people from finding it, the place was in the middle of nowhere with the nearest town at least a good 45 minutes away driving wise, even longer if you had to walk or run on foot.

Swallowing any profanities threatening to spill out of his mouth, Kaiji adjusted his wig and took a deep breath, he was here on mission and he would not leave without getting what he wanted, the suitcase in his hand was heavy with a good chunk of his bank account drained into it, he was sure that just the sight of just how much money inside of it would let him take the kid home with no questions asked and if not…

Well, it was a good thing that this place was so far out from civilization.

With a confident strut and a blinding smile that could put the sun to shame, Kaiji knocked on the old, dilapidated door that was barely on its hinges and waited around five minutes before it opened to reveal a little girl that was more skeleton than a literal child, looking up at him with eyes far too dead for someone who’s only been alive for half a decade, maybe even less.

“Hello sweetie, do you know who the person in charge of this place is or where I can find him?” Kaiji squatted down to be on the same level as the girl, putting on his most gentle feminine voice and reassuring smile as to not scare her off. The girl said nothing in return, only staring at him with those lifeless eyes before opening the door wider to beckon him inside.

Standing up, Kaiji carefully stepped inside as the girl closed the door, the first thing that Kaiji noticed was how utterly abysmal the place looked, the wallpaper was old, practically monochrome with how faded the colors were, and peeling off like dead skin revealing the cracked stone wall underneath. The floors weren’t any better as they were made out of old, rotting wood and had so many holes everywhere that it made Kaiji want to itch, the first floor split off into three paths with a staircase leading to what he assumed would be the children’s rooms.

One lead to the living room which just consisted of a ripped up couch and a barely functioning antique television playing some movie that was way before Kaiji’s or any of these kids’ time. The second path lead to what barely counted as a kitchen and Kaiji didn’t need to step inside to know that rats and insects were taking whatever food that was supposed to be for the kids for themselves, the last path lead to the director’s office where the little girl was currently leading him to, Kaiji tried not to dwell too much on the thought that the place smelled like piss, mold, and utter misery as he gently knocked on the director’s office.

“Who is it.” A gruff, old voice rasped out, grating Kaiji’s eardrums and nerves as he cleared his throat and hoped to sound like he wanted to strangle whoever was on the other side of that door. “Hello! I’ve come here looking to adopt a child, are you the owner of this orphanage?”

It was silent on the other side for a moment before the sound of the door unlocking to reveal the most hideous creature Kaiji has ever seen in his entire life and that included his eldest brother Henri.

The man had to be in his 60s, old and decrepit, a living fossil that should’ve expired a long time ago, he smelled like sour milk and had piss yellow eyes that made Kaiji wanted to claw off his own skin, god he was giving Touya the biggest hug the next time he saw him, this was what he had to deal with when he was a kid?? He didn’t think it was possible but his respect for beloved went up even higher tenfold.

The old man coughed harshly into his fist, spit flying out and Kaiji resisted the urge to recoil in disgust, shifting slightly away as the old geezer but on a fake smile and hungrily ran his eyes all over the crossdresser. “Ah, my apologies ma’am, that’s wonderful to hear, we have tons of little ones here for you to pick out, you came to the right place.” Then he seemed to remember the little girl standing next to Kaiji and his eyes hardened into a glare that made her flinch, in a voice that was the complete opposite of the sickly sweet tone he gave to the white haired streamer, he barked out. “Go get the rest of ‘em, tell ‘em we got a visitor today and they might get lucky…this one looks very rich.” He grinned widely the rich part, showing off his very yellow and very decaying teeth.

The little girl scampered off before Kaiji could say anything or perhaps vomit in sheer disgust, leaving him alone with the Director who just kept staring at him with barely hidden greed and desire in his gaze, it wasn’t something that was new to Kaiji but somehow it felt so wrong when it came from this man and he knew exactly why.

“Say, how did you become aware of our orphanage, not to say we’re not grateful that you’ve came but as I’m sure you know, this place is quite a find, I’m curious.” The director tilted his head as yet another saccharine smile stretched across his face, the stuff of nightmares but Kaiji only batted his eyes in return and gave one of his own. “Oh well, I’ve had trouble producing one of my own and a friend of mine had told me about this place, very…discreet, a smooth adoption process…no questions.” He made sure to put an emphasis on the no questions part, locking eyes with the director.

The Director raised his eyebrows in response before nodding. “Yes, I see, well like I said, you came to the right place.” Before he could say anything else, multiple pairs of feet were heard getting closer before a cluster of children appeared before the two adults, Kaiji’s heart clenched when he realized that they were all in the same or even worse condition as the little girl who opened the door, hell, there were literal toddlers hidden in the crowd, almost all of them were looking down or were even avoiding looking at the two of them in general but there was a few curious eyes at stared in awe at the beautiful and well put together woman holding a big suitcase.

The Director clapped his hands, spooking the kids into more obedience before addressing them. “A wonderful day is upon you, children! This nice lady here is looking to adopt a lucky child here, I want you all to be on your best behavior and treat her with respect, perhaps she might even take more than one of you home if you’re good enough.”

The children said nothing but nodded their hands, eyes trained onto Kaiji as he lightly laughed and smiled back. “Maybe…” He trailed off as his eyes scanned over the crowd again and again, looking for blonde hair and pink eyes, blonde hair and pink eyes, blonde hair and-ah!

“You there!” He called out and pointed to a child in the middle of the crowd, taking both the kids and the Director by surprise. The kids parted like the sea to reveal who Kaiji had pointed at, revealing a small boy with blonde hair and pink eyes staring at the adult with wide and slightly fearful eyes, the boy looked to his left and right before looking back at Kaiji as if saying ‘Me? Really?’

Kaiji couldn’t help but let his smile get bigger as he nodded, beckoning the child to come closer. “Yes, you, it’s okay, I won’t bite.”

The boy hesitated for a second before shyly shuffling over to Kaiji, ignoring the jealous and resentful stared the other kids were giving him as he stood straight and gave the most polite bow his little body could muster. “H-hello Miss…” He greeted and Kaiji couldn’t help but melt a little inside, yes he was sure of it, he may looked like his father’s copy but those eyes, those beautiful, precious eyes were unmistakable.

Kaiji cooed and knelt down to be on his level, holding out his hands for the boy to hold. “Hello sweetheart, what’s your name?”

The child looked at the satin glove covered hands before placing his on top of them, eyes sparkling as he marveled the softness. “H-Haruki…”

Kaiji wanted to sweep the boy into a hug right then and there, he had finally found him and god was he as sweet as a button, it reminded him so much of him but without the darkness that tainted his soul, “Haruki…what a lovely name, do you want to come home with me, Haruki?”

Haruki stared at Kaiji like he had hung the stars and moon in the sky, he gripped the older male’s hands tightly with all the hopes and dreams his tiny heart held. “Plea-“

A harsh sounding throat clearing broke the small yet sweet moment between the two of them and Kaiji just barely resisted the urge to turn around and beat the ever living shit out of the old man who was staring at them with an unreadable expression on his face. The Director glared at Haruki with so much heat that it shook the boy to his core, before Kaiji could say anything, Haruki pulled his hands back and stepped away from him, his head hanging low and avoiding his gaze.

“Ahem, my apologies ma’am but…I’m afraid young Haruki is not eligible for adoption.” The Director put on a mock solemn voice as he placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder making him go rigid and Kaiji grind his teeth in anger, standing up, he turned towards the Director and stared at the old man with so much hatred it caused him to widen his eyes and pause.

“And pray tell…why not.”

Sputtering, the Director looked away from his fierce gaze and gestured to the crowd of children still watching them with bated breath. “T-that’s because someone else has offered to adopt him, but there’s plenty of other children you can choose from, I’m sure-“

“And what if I want him.” Kaiji coldly cut his off, full on glaring at this point as his patience had finally been wear thin.

“He’s already been chosen ma’am, I’m sorry but there’s nothing I can do.” The Director spat back, all pleasantries now gone. “Now you can either pick another child to take home with you or I’ll have to ask you to leave.”

Haruki now looked visibly terrified now, he was shaking under the weight of two adults fighting but every time he and Kaiji locked eyes the message was loud and clear.

Don’t leave me here.

Kaiji clicked his tongue and lifted up the suitcase, unlocking it, he smirked at how both the Director’s and the kids’ eyes nearly popped out of their skulls at the sheer amount of money inside. “Look, I don’t know who you promised Haruki to and I don’t give a shit, I’m willing to give you millions for this kid so tell whatever basement dwelling pedophile to fuck off.”

The Director’s breathing got heavy as he stared at the suitcase of cash, his hand shakily reaching out for just a touch before getting shocked back into reality as Kaiji snapped the suitcase closed. “The kid first, fuckwad.” He growled and the Director grumbled before sighing…and shaking his head. “I can’t.”

Kaiji stared at him, dumbfounded, this fucking sewer creature just rejected 20 million dollars…20 million fucking dollars for one kid.

This had to be a new brand of stupidity.

Kaiji shook his head and locked the suitcase back, staring at the Director with a heated mixture of hatred, anger, and disgust. “You’re even more stupid than I thought.” Then giving Haruki a tender look, he promised to him. “Don’t worry, sweetheart, I’ll come back for you, I’m not giving you up so easily.”

Before the Director can protest, Kaiji shoulder checked him as he made his way out the door and back to his car, not paying attention to any of the children, Haruki, included crowding around the porch to watch him get into his car and drive off back to the city, not without giving a dejected Haruki one last smile and wink.

As he drove, Kaiji used the call function on his car to call up Akari, ringing two times before the line picked up.

“What.”

“Change of plans, Akari, I’m a need you to call up those friends of yours, tell them I have a special job for them that’ll get them new members for their cause, I’ll pay them handsomely.”

— Later —

The wind whipped against Kaiji’s face as he sped down the road at breakneck speed, rapidly drying the blood that was caked all over his hands and face, ice blue eyes were practically glowing with anger as he pressed his foot harder against the accelerator, practically willing the car to go even faster.

“Fuck fuck fuck FUCK FUCK FUCK-!” He screamed, hitting the car horn, he was pissed, that much was obvious, at the Director, at himself, at the fucking creep who drove away with a crying Haruki banging and hitting the back of the van, staring at Kaiji with desperate eyes to save him.

The old man tried to pull a fast one on him, thank god he decided to follow his gut on going back to the orphanage earlier than he intended to, he wouldn’t have seen the creep throwing Haruki into his van and speeding off. Kaiji couldn’t remember much after that, only wet feeling of blood dripping off his face and hands, faint screaming, and the shocked faces of Scorpion Den agents by the time they arrived at the orphanage, one glance below him quickly filled him in on the situation.

Well at least that creepy old fuck won’t be hurting more kids anymore.

But he couldn’t think about that right now, he sprinted to his car after snatching the tracking device one of the agents had attached on the van and drove like a bat out of hell towards the location where the van, where Haruki was heading to.

Which lead to where he was now, violating various traffic laws to save one kid from meeting a terrible fate. If you were to tell Kaiji years earlier that he’d be doing something like this, he’d simply laugh right in your face before telling you to fuck off.

Crazy how love changes people.

Immediately slamming on the breaks, Kaiji nearly flung himself out of his car, instead bashing his head against the dashboard as his car skidded and crashed into the very van he was chasing, causing the airbags to explode and wack his head back to his seat. Groaning in pain, Kaiji pushed the airbags out of the way and almost fell out of his car, running and stumbling to the door of some old house, Kaiji couldn’t focus on anything else, not the blood, his wounds, or his totaled car, all he could think about was Haruki.

‘Not him, not him, anyone but him, not again.’

One of the perks of coming from a family like Kaiji’s is that you barely register the pain when doing physical defying stunts such as kicking down a door off its hinges, twice as he flew down the stairs to the basement, scaring the absolute hell out of both the predator and a half naked Haruki as Kaiji tackled the man to the ground, knife he barely remembered grabbing from the kitchen in hand before going to absolute town on the sick fuck.

Haruki stared and stared and stared as Kaiji tore into the man, blood spraying everywhere and even on him as the predator’s screams were cut short, his face mangled and caved in, his chest cavity openly displayed like a sick art exhibit, guts and viscera thrown every which way, and Haruki’s eyes opened wide as Kaiji pulled off the guy’s pants and carved out his penis and the skin around it before throwing it to some forgotten corner, the man now having a bloody hole where his manhood once was.

Eh, not like he was alive to mourn over his loss anyways.

A small noise snapped Kaiji out of his stupor, dark eyes looking over to where Haruki sat, his shirt just barely covering his lower half and eyes wide and afraid…but oddly enough it wasn’t Kaiji he was staring at with fear, he was still staring at the gore fest of what once was the man, as if waiting for him to get up and continue hurting him.

Kaiji panted heavily, using his sleeve to wipe the blood off his face to no success, getting up from the now corpse, he wobbled over towards Haruki before dropping to his knees in front of him, he wanted to touch him, he wanted to hug him and tell him that everything was alright now but he couldn’t, he was so tired and he was scared that Haruki was afraid of him now, he wouldn’t blame the kid, he was hoping that he could avoid something like this but he guess there was no going back now.

“I-It’s okay…” He gasped out and Haruki looked at him quietly. “You’re okay…you’re safe now…I-I won’t…I won’t let anyone hurt you…nobody will ever hurt you ever again…”

He didn’t know if he was saying that to Haruki or someone else but that was all it took for Haruki to throw himself into Kaiji’s arms and hug him tightly, burying his face into the crook of his neck, taking the snow haired male by surprise. His eyes widened before wrapping his around this small, small little boy and held him like he was his entire world.

“We’re going home Haruki.”

Haruki snuggled harder into him, completely indifferent to the blood and gore covering the both of them, he held Kaiji as if he would disappear if he let go.

“Okay, Papa.”

— Present Day, Katsushika Division, Later —

The party had been a major success, Kaiji grinned widely at the happy look on Touya’s face when he and the rest of Death Row Block stepped inside the venue. Kaiji graciously accepted his reward of getting bombarded with kisses by Touya and the two were inseparable the entire night, shamelessly lavishing each other in PDA and loving words much to the disgust of half the partygoers who knew better than to say anything to them, the couple was happy almost sickeningly so but they knew that they deserved it after everything they went through.

Kaiji’s laughter was cut off by a message he got on his phone, after skimming through it, his eyes widened before detangling himself from Touya’s embrace much to the latter’s confusion. Kaiji stood in the center of the room and tapped his spoon against his glass to get everyone’s attention, “Everyone! I ask for your attention please!”

The chattering and music died out as everyone turned to Kaiji, confusion and interest on their faces, Touya especially was confused as he tilted his head and stared at his beloved. “Kai-chan?”

Kaiji grinned at Touya and blew a kiss at him. “First of all, happy birthday to the love of my life, Touya Kisaragi, words cannot express how grateful and lucky I am to have met you and how absolutely ecstatic I am to be your husband to be, I can’t wait to get married to you, my love, my darling, my everything.”

The crowd aww’ed and cooed (except for Rintaro who gagged into his slice of cake muttering swears to himself) while Touya felt himself started to tear up as he happily stared at Kaiji with so much love in his gaze.

Kaiji continued on. “Touya, you make me want to be a better person, you make me want to do right by you, to spend the rest of my life giving you the love and support you so rightfully deserve which is why I wanted to give you the greatest gift I’ve ever given you, it took me some time and I’m sorry if it seemed like I was being distant with you but I wanted everything to be perfect for you, you deserve nothing less.”

Then calling out behind him, Kaiji yelled, “Okay, sweetheart, you can come in now!”

The double doors opened and in walked in Kaiji’s mom, Cordelia but it wasn’t her that everyone was paying attention to, it was who was beside her. A five year old blonde hair, pink eyed boy wearing the cutest outfit Kaiji had picked out for him.

Haruki gently let go of his grandmother’s hand and ran up to Kaiji, looking better and lively than he had ever been thanks to being under Kaiji’s care for months. The father and son hugged each other before Kaiji held him in front of Touya who looked pale faced and wide eyed, like he was seeing a ghost for the first time.

Haruki tentatively looked up at Touya, a bit shy but eyes glittering with curiosity. “Hi Mama.”

The party was in full swing and as Touya was enjoying and marveling how much his fiancé went out of his way to give him a perfect birthday party, he was approached by his beloved’s teammates.

“Thanks you guys!” He beamed and eagerly accepted the rockstar and assassin’s gifts.

Opening up Ren’s gift revealed to be a pink, elegant jewelry box to store all his extra jewelry in.

Opening Max’s gift revealed to be a pink and cute diary complete with its own pen, a celebratory gift for Touya getting better at reading and writing.

After gushing over his gifts and bringing the two into a hug, Ren and Max looked at each other then back at Touya.

“We’re really happy for you and Kaiji, Touya, honestly we never thought that he’d be the first to settle down but you seem to have a way of bringing out the good in him and we’re grateful for that.” Ren softly smiled and Max nodded.

“He loves you…very much…never…forget that…and please…take care…of him…he means…a lot to…us…but you…mean everything…to him.” Max quietly said, giving Touya an awkward pat on the shoulder.

The two then left to rejoin the party, leaving Touya with his thoughts, not for long however because it seemed like Kaiji himself had an announcement to share…

A huge smile was on Touya’s face as he stared out into the party in front of him. For once in his life, it was real, and not something he put on to prevent himself from breaking down. He was having fun getting gifts from the people he considered family. Something he never thought he’d ever have. Oh sure, there were his biological mother and grandparents, plus his adopted mother, but they were only family through blood and paper. He only saw them as the people who brutally abused him throughout his childhood. Touya stared into the darkness where that…person disappeared into. He wasn’t afraid of what most would call a monster. He knew monsters. They didn’t have glowing eyes or sharp claws. No, they looked human, unsuspecting, and even appeared kind. So yes, Touya knew monsters quite well. He had been raised by one after all. Even after all these years, no one had tortured him more than her. Still…

Touya closed his eyes. Flashes of all the close calls he’s suffered in his life play like a movie in his brain. The most prominent ones being of the sharp glint of a knife, pools of blood, and a violent scream. The serial killer sighed, falling backwards onto his bed.

On today’s episode of…

Jinpachi: We have a very special episode featuring quite the ensemble of characters here. We have an American woman by the name of Caroline Carter who insistently claims that the father of her one year old daughter, Seiko Carter-

Caroline: Seiko Chōten.

Jinpachi: Right, my apologies, Seiko Chōten, is the none other than the infamous recently disgraced Chōten heir, Tomi Chōten.

Audience: *murmurs and oohs*

Jinpachi: Now, Carter-san, not that I’m saying I don’t believe you but you have to admit that this is quite the bold claim.

Caroline: I don’t see how it is, Jinpachi, I’m sure you, everyone and their mother in Japan knows about the sex tape scandal that happened on this very day, I could never forget because it lead me to having Seiko nine months later.

Jinpachi: Of course, that was a once in a lifetime event, if you don’t mind me asking, Carter-san, you said that only Chōten-san was intoxicated when the conception happened?

Caroline: Yes, that is correct.

Jinpachi: If it’s not too uncomfortable with you, would you please give us a recap on how the whole situation happened?

Caroline: I was hired to be one of the card dealers in the gambling den for Tomi’s birthday gala last year, a coworker of mine called in sick so I had filled in for him, the pay was obviously amazing and little did I thought I’d needed the money for more than just rent but I digress. Tomi walked in with a bunch of men, his business associates I had assumed and they wanted to play a few rounds of poker, they sat at my table and I did what I was supposed to do for my job but…they all started drinking and Tomi, he…he became more and more touchy with me, he kept wrapping his arms around me and had his hands wandering all over my body. I was shocked of course, everyone knew about his marriage to his…well, his now ex wife so I had no idea that he would be so forward with another woman after a few drinks, but I guess that teaches me to think that a married man (at the time) would learn how to behave.

Audience: *shocked gasps and small boos*

Jinpachi: Well, seeing as how we’re here now, you didn’t refuse Chōten-san’s advances.

Caroline: *blushes* W-well, how could I?! I mean, I wanted to but…this was one of the richest men in Japan, i-if I were to have denied him, who knew what would happen to me?! I would’ve fired, I could’ve blacklisted to never find a job again, and I probably would’ve been blackmailed to submission! Despite their reputation as of now…the Chōten family were not people you wanted to mess with…I had to learn that the hard way when my daughter was born.

Audience: *sympathetic coos and awws*

Jinpachi: *frowns sympathetically* I’m sure it was a difficult situation for you, Carter-san, which makes it all the more brave of you to come out with this story now. Do you wish to continue?

Caroline: *sighs* Not much to say, one moment he was groping me and the next we were making out and rushing to a hotel room so we could…do the deed. I…know that we didn’t use protection, there wasn’t enough time between the kissing and wanting to get to the main event as quick as possible, I should’ve known when I felt sick a couple of weeks later but it still came as a shock when I saw the positive results. It was an experience, that’s all I have to say.

Audience: *contemplative murmurs*

Jinpachi: *nods* Thank you for sharing, Carter-san, now that it’s been a year since then and you’ve had your daughter, how have the two of you fare?

Caroline: Jinpachi-san, I love my daughter but I won’t lie that my life has been significantly harder now with her in the picture, I’m not sure how they found out the but the Chōten family have tried to silence me through large sums of money and later intimidation tactics when I’ve stopped accepting their bribes, I’m tired of living my life in fear and my daughter deserves more than to live her life as an unwanted bastard child.

Jinpachi: And what is it that you wish to accomplish here, Carter-san?

Caroline: I’m not asking Tomi to be an active father even though it would be nice, all I want is for him to acknowledge her as his child and to call off the silent crusade against me and Seiko, after all, I’m not the one who ruined his life but if he keeps going at it than I won’t hesitate to hit it where it hurts.

Audience: *loud cheering*

Jinpachi: What a great answer, I believe now it’s time to finally meet little baby Seiko, would you please bring her out?

[A backstage worker gently hands Caroline her daughter and the audience both in studio and those at home cannot help but gasp in shock and surprise at the sight of her, more specifically…her eyebrows.]

Jinpachi: She’s very adorable.

Caroline: *hugs Seiko close* Thank you.

Seiko: *baby babbling*

Jinpachi: Now, I don’t wish to alarm you but we have managed to contact and even brought Tomi here, are you okay with seeing him?

Caroline: *deep breath and adjusts hold on Seiko* …Yes, you can bring him in.

Jinpachi: *nods* Alright well, everyone please welcome Tomi Chōten of Aoyama.

Tomi: *walks into frame stone faced*

Audience: *boos and yells at him*

Tomi: *scowls at the audience and sits away from Caroline and Seiko*

Jinpachi: *raises hand to calm the audience* Now, Chōten-san, we do appreciate having you here-

Tomi: Oh spare me, you charlatan, you and your insufferable team of vultures refused to leave me alone if I did not entertain this absurdity! I should sue you and everyone in this damn room for all any of you are worth-which is not much-for even assuming this child is my offspring!

Seiko: Buhbuh?

Audience: *disgusted noises and more boos*

Caroline: She is your child you immature bastard-

Jinpachi: *clears throat* That’s why we’re all here right now, we’re finally going to get some answers once and for all, we received the results of the paternity test you so gracious gave us-

Tomi: **hissing** My family forced me to participate, I didn’t ’graciously give’ you anything.

Jinpachi: Anything else you two want to say before we reveal the results?

Tomi: *glaring* No.

Caroline: It’s not an ‘if’, it’s a fact and I sincerely hope from the bottom of my heart that when she becomes a Chōten, she won’t become anything like you, you already fucked up her eyebrows with these swirls.

Tomi: *still glaring* …

Audience: *watching with bated breath* …

“Oi, Touya, wake up.”

Touya Kisaragi grunted and squirmed, clearly displeased by his sleeping being interrupted (which was something he rarely got to do) as he was being shocked awake by someone, pushing their hands away, the bluenette slowly sat up and rubble his eyes, having half a mind to stab whoever woke him with his knife. It wasn’t until he actually opened his eyes to look at who really disturbed his slumber, a pout forming on his features as he whined and glared at his fellow inmate. “Rin-chaaaaan, what was that for? I was having a really good dream for once!”

Rintaro rolled his eyes and sighed, annoyed, however there was something else in his eyes that made his actions and words not have as much heat in them as they normally do. “Yeah yeah, don’t tell me what it was, I’d rather not get traumatized this early in the morning, c’mon, get up and get ready, the old man’s made pancakes.” He lazily waved as he strolled out of the room, leaving Touya to do his morning routine. The serial killer perked up at the mention of the hitman’s glorious pancakes and that was enough to leap out of bed and start to get ready for the day, as he was doing so, Touya couldn’t help but feel that something special was about to happen, he wasn’t sure what though but it didn’t seem to stop his bright mood as he finished whatever little touches he had and exited his room to join his team in the kitchen.

“Morning Touya-nii.” Akari waved, her and Rintaro were already at the table and digging in.

“Good morning, Touya.” Akihisa greeted, turning off the stove and setting down another stack of pancakes before siting down himself and nursing a mug of coffee, Touya’s nose scrunched up, no doubt it was black and bitter as hell, the bluenette had no idea how or why Akihisa could drink such things, he himself much preferred something a lot sweeter.

Speaking of, Touya happily took his place at the table and started to stack up his own plate, complete with absolutely drowning his pancakes in syrup, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and whatever else sweet was on the table much to Rintaro’s disgust.

“You want some fucking diabetes with your pancakes?” He side eyed Touya’s monstrosity of a breakfast and promptly got a kick to the knee by both Touya and Akari.

“Rin-nii, be nice.”

“Yeah Rin-chan, let me eat my breakfast!” Touya stuck out his tongue and Akihisa sighed, suddenly more grateful for his coffee than before. “Alright you lot, settle down, it’s far too early to be this rowdy, Touya, your parole officer called, they said that you’re permitted to skip curfew today which means-“

“I can spend the night with Kai-chan!” Touya squealed, dancing in his seat making Akihisa smile barely and nod. “Of course, just remember to call us when you get to Kobe.”

“I will, Hisa-chan!” Touya dutifully nodded and went back to shoveling more pancakes into his mouth, the mention of the white haired streamer had caused Akari to perk up as if she remembered something before slipping away from the table to head to her room and then came back to the table, this time holding an envelope. “Touya-nii, I forgot, this is for you, it’s from Kaiji.”

Blinking, Touya swallowed whatever food was in his mouth before taking the envelope from Akari and opening it right at the table, everyone curious as to what was inside which revealed to be a letter and a list of some kind.

‘My dearest Tou-chan,

Happy 1 Year Anniversary my love!! Can you believe it?! God I wish I could kiss you right now but unfortunately I’ll have to wait until later, I can’t wait to see you though, I managed to convince your parole officer to let you off the hook today which means you’re free to do as you please (within reason of course booooo), I just know you’re itching to get to Kobe and I am too however, there’s something I need you to do for me, what I sent you is something of a bit of a scavenger hunt, there are certain places that you need to visit and certain items that you need to collect, they should be easy to find but if you need help then feel free to call me though I know you can do it, you’re smarter than you think.

Okay bye bye for now, I have to go back to planning the super secret super huge surprise that’s for you, I love you soooooo much and good luck!

After much fangirling and hours later, that’s how Touya found himself in the bustling city of Kobe, list in one hand and phone with the other, Kaiji had kept his word, it wasn’t too difficult for Touya to navigate although he had a little bit of difficulty trying to read some of the words. First location was in a faintly familiar spot and after a bit of thinking, it suddenly hit Touya making his eyes go wide, this was where he and Kaiji first met! Immediately something caught his attention, it was a box with a note attached to it, opening it up, Touya was surprised to find a bouquet of roses inside, taking the note off the box, it read.

‘Congratulations, you found the first item!

Hopefully it didn’t cause you too much trouble, do you like the roses? I know red universally symbolizes love but there’s nothing wrong with pink, it doesn’t change how much I love you, plus, there’s something romantic about visiting the place where it all began y’know? I thought you were really beautiful the first time we met, who knew a chance encounter would lead to something special.’

Feeling tears well up in his eyes, Touya pushed the urge to cry down and held the bouquet close to him, savoring the sweet smell the roses gave off.

That was one down.

It became routine at this point, Touya would visit a place that reminded him of memories of him and Kaiji and would find a gift each time as well as a heartfelt letter.

There were the bloody brownies (not made from actual blood unfortunately) from the bakery where he and Kaiji had their first official date.

There were three plushies from the nightclub and hotel where he and Kaiji had fun sleeping with that detective from Suginami.

There were the beautiful pink sparkly dress from Kaiji’s penthouse where he and Kaiji would mostly spend most of their time together from doing clothes and makeup, to joining the snow haired streamer when he was live, to fucking each other within an inch of their lives.

Surprisingly, it was also where he ran into Nagisa and Akumu, to which he wrapped the two in a big hug. “Nagi-chan! Kumu-kun! Hi, what are you guys doing here?”

Akumu nodded in reply and Nagisa patted Touya’s back, “Hey Touya, we actually came to get you, I see you got all the stuff.” He said, taking note of all the items in Touya’s arms to which the serial killer nodded happily. “Yep! This was really fun, so where am I supposed to go now?” He asked and Nagisa gently took the gifts from his arms, only leaving Touya with the dress.

“Actually, you’re just about done, Kaiji told us to tell you that you should get ready in his bathroom and put on the dress, he’s got everything set up in there.”

“Oh.” Touya blinked, surprised and kinda disappointed that he wouldn’t be finding more gifts but that disappointment was very short lived as he was excited to finally see Kaiji after so long, giggling, he held the dress closer to him and skipped towards the streamer’s bathroom to get ready while Nagisa and Akumu shared a look, the former leaving to the elevator to head towards the roof. “Yo Akumu, I can trust that you can lead Touya the rest of the way, yeah?”

The small boy only gave a nod in response and that was all Nagisa needed as he rode the elevator up.

Meanwhile Touya admired himself in the full length mirror all dolled up and looking pretty in the dress Kaiji got him, apparently he was wrong, there had been one last gift he found in the bathroom and that was an elegant box containing photos and memorabilia from the entirety of his and Kaiji’s relationship from start to even now, looking through it made Touya emotional again but a soft knock on the door snapped him out of it.

He opened to find Akumu waiting for him outside, the serial killer tilted his head confused as he found no sign of Nagisa or his gifts, “Kumu-kun, where’s Nagi-chan?”

Akumu said nothing as he reached to hold Touya’s hand and guided him to the elevator, pressing the button that led them to the rooftop and waiting in silence, Touya’s heart was pounding as he anticipated what he was gonna find once they got there, the two of them stepping out once they reached their destination.

Immediately, his jaw dropped and his eyes threatened to pop out of his skull because right before him could only be described as a scene right out of a fairytale, the entire rooftop was decorated so beautifully with flowers and lights and there was even a huge dining set up at the back where all his gifts were sat, not only that, Akihisa, Rintaro, Akari, Ren, Max, Nagisa, Ryōhei, Ayano, all his friends were there too all dressed up nicely looking at Touya with smiles and affection in their eyes.

And right in the middle of it all was the love of his life, Kaiji Sano.

Akumu slipped away back to Max’s side during Touya’s gawking, the older boy giving the younger one a headpat for a job well done, Kaiji beamed brightly at the sight of his beloved, walking up to hold Touya’s hands and giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Tou-chan, you look beautiful.” He complimented and Touya could only stare at the snowy haired male in awe as the former guided him further into the beautiful set up.

“Kai-chan…what…” The bluenette could barely even speak, too starstruck by…everything that he didn’t know what to feel at the moment, Kaiji’s eyes softened and placed a hand on his cheek, caressing the skin. “Happy Anniversary, my love, I got one more item for you, hopefully this memory sticks out more than the others, there’s…honestly no words that can describe how much I love you, how much you mean to me, and how thankful I am everyday to have met you, I could go on and on but I’m honestly getting really impatient so I’ll just skip to the good part.”

Touya’s breath hitch and the world came to a screeching halt at the sight of Kaiji pulling out a small elegantly decorated box, looking Touya in the eyes with all the love and affection in the world, he asked a question that would change their lives forever.

“Touya Kisaragi, will you marry me?”

Touya stared at Kaiji, wide-eyed, mouth open, his mind for once in his life quiet, it was as if the entire world had stopped moving and all he could do was continue staring at the love of his life in front of him and the pink glittering diamond ring in his hands. His heart was beating rapidly against his ribcage, the serial killer couldn’t find his voice to answer Kaiji, he was quite literally speechless. The idea of marriage was never something that came to mind for Touya. Yes, he knew it was a joyful occasion for couples to go through but never in a million years did Touya ever think he’d get married. Not when he was who he was as an infamous serial killer who had so many people dead at his hands.

However, deep down Touya knew the real reason why he never thought he’d get married. He didn’t think he was worthy of it. How could he? Not with how…disgusting he was. His body had been twisted into something perverted for people to use for their own pleasure. His mind was a shattered hellhole that left many people wondering how he could function as well as he did. He had so much trauma from his biological mother and grandparents who had hated him for the crime of being born, from his adoptive mother who committed atrocity after atrocity against his person, and from a string of abusive lovers who only really ever used him for sex. Along with several other things that culminated in Touya being someone most people found extremely difficult to love.

Everyone knew of Touya’s deep desire for someone to love him. He barely kept it a secret after all but it was just more than that to Touya. He wanted someone to finally let his guard down with, a chance to receive the love and affection he never had growing up, and most importantly, a chance to finally heal from all the abuse and mental anguish that had been haunting him since he was a child. That was all he ever wanted a chance for someone to love him fully. To look past his admittedly several faults and to love him despite everything. He had waited for so long that Touya had begun to lose hope that he would ever find someone who’d love him.

But as he stared intently into Kaiji’s icy blue eyes, Touya knew he was wrong because he could see it, he could see the fierce love in Kaiji’s eyes as he stared back. He could see it so clearly and the epiphany hits Touya like a fucking truck. Kaiji wants to marry him. Kaiji thought he of all people was someone worth getting married to. It was almost too much for Touya to handle his emotions running high at an all-time high. Scratch that. It was too much for Touya to handle.

“Tou-chan?” Kaiji softly called out getting more and more desperate the longer it took Touya stayed silent and didn’t answer his proposal. “Is everything alright-”

“Waah!”

The loud piercing sob that had come out of Touya’s mouth had nearly caused everyone to jump out of their skin. Out of all the things they expected Touya to do that was not one of them as they watched as Touya buried his face in his hands. His skinny shoulders violently shaking from how hard he was crying. No one was quite sure what to do as Touya continued crying. His choking sobs echoed loudly across the rooftop.

Meanwhile, Touya couldn’t stop crying, and just when he thought he would stop he spiraled into another outburst. His emotions were all over the place and Touya had never been the best at regulating them even now that he was medicated. It was only when he felt a pair of hands gently grasp his arms did Touya finally looked up from his hands with fat tears and globs of mucus running down his face as he saw Kaiji staring at him with a soft and gentle look on his face.

“Shhh…just let it out,” Kaiji soothed bringing Touya into his arms for a hug which only made him cry even more at the gentle action. The white-haired steamer just ran his fingers through Touya’s hair in response waiting until his boyfriend could finally speak.

“I-I-I’m sorry K-K-Kai-chan!” Touya violently wailed out another round of tears running down his face. “I-I-I just n-n-never thought I’d have s-s-someone who’d want to m-m-marry me! A-A-And now I just ruined y-y-your proposal t-t-that you worked so h-h-hard on!”

“It’s alright Tou-chan,” Kaiji assured his tone full of nothing but warm love for Touya. “Just take your time. I’ll be here for as long as you need me to.”

Touya wasn’t sure how long he stayed in Kaiji’s embrace crying his eyes and heart out but certainly felt like a long time to him. Taking a deep breath to stop himself from crying all over again Touya gently left Kaiji’s arms taking a step back to stand in front of the love of his life. He had a question to answer after all. Wiping the stray tears from his face and quickly fixing his hair, Touya cleared his throat and gripped Kaiji’s hands with his own, holding them tightly to reassure himself that this still wasn’t a dream that he would wake up from, that this moment was real, he then began to speak, making sure that he was loud enough so that everyone could hear him.

“Kai-chan…”

“I waited for so long for someone to love me that I never thought it would actually happen…”

“But then I met you by chance and I’m so glad that I was wrong…”

“You make me feel so loved even when I feel like I don’t deserve it…”

“Even when I know I’m not the easiest person to love…”

“And I never want to lose that...”

“Or lose you…”

“Because that would be the thing that kills me…”

“What I’m trying to say is…”

“Yes…”

“...I will marry you!”
