Honestly it makes sense that the mafia seems to consider Akutagawa and Higuchi kind of bumbling idiots when you remember they were given Dazai’s old job. Like that squad went from being led by a hyper competent prodigy who accomplished everything in the most brutally efficient way the mafia had ever seen and kept a decent amount of secrecy to being led by the dumb and dumber notice me senpai duo who are operating on pure desperation and brute force and seem to just be doing every mission on their own instead of actually utilizing the squad. Akutagawa’s so bad at subtly that he’s the one member of the mafia the entire fucking city seems to know about (well, and kajii). And I’m pretty sure Akutagawa was just so bad at being a leader that Mori sent Higuchi in to be his babysitter and she’s… not helping much.
I like to think Dazai passed by one of his numerous wanted posters one day after he left the pm and was just like “….God damn it Akutagawa.”
Bet the members of that squad were fucking thrilled tho. Because at least now they have a boss who won’t sacrifice them like pawns and they probably have to work a lot less because Akutagawa’s just sending himself in. I wonder if they downsized…

when you look into it, soukoku is actually so sad and heartbreaking. chuuya is a boy who is just a bunch of codes, and he is still capable of loving, but he loses everyone he loves. then he accepts himself as he is, then someone very important in his life leaves him behind without saying a word, again.
dazai is a boy who thinks that he isn't even capable of being human, and thinks he won't be able to have nice things with anyone he loves, because he will end up losing them anyway, he gives up on love. and while he thinks he is inhuman, one of the most important people in his life, the one he trusts the most, his partner, calls him inhuman. then he loses again, and leaves the mafia, empty handed.
i'm sad don't touch me.
