"As Robert Kennedy explained in 1964, "President Kennedy's favorite quote was really from Dante, 'The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality.'"

Is it true that Joe Sr. paid Jackie to stay in her marriage with Jack and that she accepted? I saw this story repeated in an excerpt from a new book called JFK: Private, Public, Secret. The excerpt is about a previously unknown affair that Jack had in the 50s that was serious and known to Jackie, although I honestly don't know much stock I would put into this new "revelation" The woman that Jack was seeing said he described his marriage as "arranged" and that when asked if he loved Jackie, he replied by saying "I love politics"
No. It was a made up rumor around the time JFK ran for his senate reelection - that Joe Sr. was going to pay Jackie a million for each year she stays with JFK. When Jackie read about the story, she called Joe and said “why only 1 million, why not 10?” so she clearly found some humor in how ridiculous the rumor was.
They did have tension in their marriage around 1956 (when Jackie sadly gave birth to a stillborn daughter and Jack was hoeing around) but apparently it was resolved by the time Caroline was born.
Unfortunately, a lot of Kennedy books repeat a lot of unfounded gossip/family myths that are regurgitated from older books, so I tend to take them with a grain of salt unless the author seems like they’ve done a lot of research or sourced their claims (which is very rare when it comes to books about the Kennedys lol).

Jack and Joe Sr. photographed together at Palm Beach in 1945.
"The story goes that Joe dramatically called Jack in to announce their revised mutual plans. As Jack told a reporter several years later, “It was like being drafted. My father wanted his oldest son in politics. ‘Wanted’ isn't the right word. He demanded it. You know my father.” In the Chelsea Naval Hospital, Jack tried to cope with the devastating news. One thing was clear: as he told his friend Red Fay, 'Now the burden falls on me.'" - "Two Sons, One Destiny", Cari Beauchamp
