MY LITTLE PONY - EQUESTRIA GIRLS

I became a fan of MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC after watching the second EQUESTRIA GIRLS movie RAINBOW ROCKS. I really liked Trixie’s song. After watching the EG movie SPRING BREAKDOWN I had an idea. Not a story, but a concept like “this had to happen.” It sat in my head ever since. Then about a month ago, it popped back out, and I wrote this story.

The following is the first chapter of the story, and am sharing it here for your enjoyment. If there is real interest, I may write further chapters. I want to know what fans honestly think. Let me know in the comments.

MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS (fan fiction)

“Trixie’s Okay!”

They had started to call themselves the ‘Mane Six’. It was something the first Twilight Sparkle had called her friends back home, and somehow it had stuck to these teen girls as well. From where I stood, the name was all wrong. For one thing, they weren’t ponies and didn’t have manes. Even when they ‘ponied-up’, as they call it, along with their ears changing their hair became long pony-tails not real tails. Secondly, there were seven of them not six; since Sunset Shimmer was a part of the group, and obviously their real leader.

It had been Sunset’s idea to invite me along with the group today as they hung out at the mall. She thought they’d welcome me as a friend. Everyone was a friend to this group. They were kind to me, of course, but it still felt uncomfortable. I had never been a friend to any of them, just a classmate. For me, all I needed was myself, the Great and Powerful Trixie! I wanted to be in the spotlight. However, back when Sunset was the mean queen of the school, I kept that light low so not to draw her attention. I didn’t want what had happened to Rarity the previous year to happen to me. Later, I ended up playing into the hands of the Dazzlings; not that their mind control powers were needed for me to try and steal the show. I own the stage, I’m all the rage. After Sunset had her magical reformation, at first it seemed so easy for her, but in truth it wasn’t and she struggled for a very long time to quietly make friends. The others were always there to help, but it was a struggle. Surprisingly, after months, Sunset became the my only true friend. Though sometimes I wonder would it have happened if magic hadn’t been involved trapping her in the yearbook office with me. She was experiencing the same feeling I usually did, unseen and alone.

Today, Sunset had invited me along with her friends, but they were gone now. Rarity had gotten excited about a clothing sale, and leapt up grabbing Applejack’s arm to drag her off (why haven’t those two started dating yet), the others laughed and followed. A few minutes later Sunset’s boyfriend Flash Sentry got up from sitting next to her. “I want to go check out the video game shop. You coming, Sunset?” She looked at him with adoring eyes, but then glanced over at me. It was clear she really wanted to go with him. “No, I want to finish my drink first.” She grabbed her soda and sucked on the straw with the sound of air gurgling up betraying that her cup was already empty. Flash smiled and leaned down and gave her a kiss, then headed off. “Is there another one of him?” I asked her playfully. “He’s one of a kind,” Sunset said with dreamy eyes, “after all the terrible things I did to him; Flash was still willing to give me a second chance.” That was certainly true, even after having eyes for the other world Twilight, he really loved Sunset. “I mean where you’re from,” I corrected, “Is there a Flash Sentry in the Pony world?” She looked at me questioningly. Should I have not called it ‘Pony world’? Yet she still answered. “Princess Twilight says he’s a royal guard in the Crystal Empire.” “Have you ever been curious?” “Trixie!” she laughed. “I’m quite happy with my own Flash Century. Besides, even though Princess Celestia has forgiven me and I can come and go from Equestria anytime I want, the human world is really my home now.” She really did look happier now than anytime in the past. I guess friendship really is magic.

“Whatever happened to the Sunset of this world? You didn’t—” “Trixie,” she sounded exasperated, “Why does everyone think I killed the other Sunset?” “Well, you were kinda…” “I know, I know.” She blushed in embarrassment of everything she had done in the past. “But the human Sunset actually graduated from high school early and started college a year before I arrived. Only Pinkie seemed to notice I wasn’t the same girl. Which is why I messed with her friends. I feel so bad about it now. It is so hard to believe she became my friend after all that. All of them, but especially Pinkie. It’s like I’m her BFF.” You’re my BFF, I thought to myself.

She looked at me with concern as if she had read my thoughts. I quickly looked down to make certain she wasn’t touching me and using her powers? “What is this all about, Trix?” I sighed. It was now or never. “That girl you brought over from the Pony world for about a week a while back.” “Starlight Glimmer. Sure, why?” “I only met her once, briefly,” I said, the girl was so grunge. “When I did, she looked at me like she knew me, then you dragged her off like I might cause trouble.” “No, not at all. She wanted to see as much of this world as she could before going back.” “Sure,” I said. “Makes sense. I guess.” I was going to let it go, but Sunset just kept looking at me the way she does. It felt very motherly.

“Remember how Applejack crashed the cruise ship into that island?” I asked. “I don’t think she crashed the ship.” “Tomato, tomahto. The point is you got us all home by taking us through the portal into the pony world.” “It’s called Equestria.” “So is our High School, and a theme park.” Sunset laughed at that. “Yep, and we had to keep track of all of you, which wasn’t easy. As we made our way to Twilight’s castle, people… I mean ponies… kept wandering off.” I knew she meant me, and I gave a half-smile in way of an apology and tried to explain. “When we were going through Ponyville, I saw a poster that read: Come see the Great and Powerful Trixie’s Magic Show. Wow, she’s a magician just like me.” “There are a lot of similarities between our two worlds,” Sunset explained.

“I know, but the only ‘magic shows’ I’ve been able to put on are in the school cafeteria or on the street. From the poster it looked like the pony Trixie was on a traveling show. “I wondered what kind of stage magic she performs in a world where there’s real magic all around. Her show must really be Great and Powerful, I just had to see her perform.” “Trixie, you didn’t meet her, did you? That could have been dangerous.” “Any more dangerous than two Twilight Sparkles?” Not to mention the rest of the six. Sunset didn’t answer, but she obviously knew something about the other me.

“As I went through the town, I couldn’t help but think of all the Unicorns with real magic. They were using it to do such everyday mundane things. I saw a waitress filling an order and the plates were floating and coming down onto the table in front of two ponies on a date. Not surprisingly, when I attempted to use the magic in my horn, it just fizzled. The best I could do was snag someone’s cloak that I could use as a disguise. “I inquired with ponies about the magic show. Some liked the show but others seemed too leery of this Trixie for some reason. That should have been a warning, and I shouldn’t have kept going, but I did.” “What did you do?” Sunset asked, she really sounded concerned. “I eventually found a small caravan wagon with a stage set up in front of it. I stayed in the back of the small audience and watched. I was still wondering what good stage magic was if every unicorn could do real magic in this world. “I was suddenly drawn out of my thoughts when a puff of smoke burst and the pony Trixie appeared on the stage. You know I can do that trick.” I said. Sunset smiled and I was sure she remembered. “She performed a few more small tricks, that were pretty similar to what I can do and some of them turned out just as bad as my own. Several minutes went by and Trixie called her assistant onto the stage. The audience pounded their hooves louder as if they had been waiting for this. I wondered who her assistant might be, I’ve never used an assistant. “Walking in from the side of the stage came a pony that for a moment I thought was Twilight, but then that Trixie introduced her as Starlight Glimmer. “I watched as the show went on; the audience applauded as each trick was better than the last. Better than anything I could ever achieve, at least on my own. Obviously, it was Starlight’s presence that was improving the show; whether she was using her unicorn magic or not to help. That Trixie was so much better with a partner. “I even hung around after the show. I really wanted to go up to meet the other me, but I didn’t. I was scared. I just watched as she and Starlight cleaned up the stage and put everything away in the caravan. They were laughing together. Heck, they even sang one of those friendship songs the rest of you do. They really were close friends. Closer than any friend I ever had. I couldn’t bear it any longer and ran off looking for the rest of you.”

“We eventually did find you,” Sunset said, again with that motherly tone. Part relief, part concern, part wanting to punish me. “Yeah, the two Twilights seemed really concerned about what I might have gotten into.” I had been giving that a lot of thought and finally asked, “The other me, she did something that upset everyone?” “According to Twilight, yes.” Sunset replied, “But apparently that was long ago, she redeemed herself when she and Starlight saved the world from an invasion of Changelings.” My mouth fell open, “Trixie saved the world?” “Yes, or at least she helped Starlight and a couple others do it. The Mane Six and the Princesses had been captured. So, it was just up to them; a draconequus without access to his powers, a rogue changeling, and two small unicorns to save the world. Couldn’t have happened if they weren’t friends.” That’s when it all flooded into me. “I need that.” “What?” Sunset asked. “Before we go back to school, I want…” This was hard for me to say. “…to go and find my own Starlight Glimmer.” Sunset just stared at me. “Will you help me?”
