It's alright... It's just a small pebble in your path, just a tiny pebble. The place you want to be...is farther than this, right? That's why it's okay... You can get up...and immediately continue on your journey...

The beginning: Master System III
Continuing my rambling on my old gaming days:
When I turned seven my father bought me a Master System III. This would be my main gaming rig for at least another seven years. I just loved that console!
Sonic the Hedgehog:
It was the first time I ever saw Sonic, the Hedgehog, and he's still one of my heroes today XP
Sonic the Hedgehog was the first game I've finished (and the only game I owned for a long time, as it was built in the console). I've loved everything in that game, speeding through Green Hill, climbing the waterfalls at the jungle, exploring the underwater labyrinth... Good memories.
This reminded me of a funny story: One of the older kids in the neighborhood, said to us (the younger children) that if we finished Sonic without dying, he would appear singing with a microphone. And we believe it. And we beat the game without dying for nothing. I was so pissed off! But it was so much fun learning the secrets of this game =)
And this was the beginning of my obsession to complete 100% of all games I would play from that day forth.
And a video of Sonic the Hegehog in the MSIII:
Phantasy Star:
The next game that would blow my mind, and define what kind of games I would love to this day was Phantasy Star.
I just can't stress how much this game was awesome at the time, and it was translated to Portuguese (Horrible job, but hey, we just started getting translations again a couple of years ago!). And I am not being an ass! The first line of the game a soldier (looking identical as a Stormtrooper) saying: "Scum! Do not sniff around in Lassic's affairs" and affairs were translated as love affairs and not business. Hahahaha!
This cartridge belonged to a friend of mine, and we played together for years and never finishing it.
The game was pretty hard, and exploring dungeons was always difficult.
At the time there were no internet, gamefaqs so we could just look it up. There was instead a phone number, called Sega Hotline, that we could call and get specialized help.
That's right, someone was paid to give you tips about games. It was so cool, 'cause we used to believe these guys who worked there were like video games masters, they knew everything: Mortal Kombat Fatalities, Chaos Emerald locations, Alex Kidd's winning hands at Janken battles and thank God they knew how the hell we could get out of Baya Malay Tower in Phantasy Star.
When I finally finished Phantasy Star, wow, what a thrill! My heart was beating so fast, I went running to my friend's apartment and literally dragged him to mine, so we could watch the ending.
Here's a video of Phantasy Star:
Pretty long post, for today. See ya next time o/
