do you know how fucked up it is that on the 80th anniversary of japan's unconditional surrender which is yesterday, new evidences of one of their their war crimes which is inhumane experiments and in this case, the unit 731 that no one seems to care enough about except chinese people are revealed? and this was revealed by one of the former soldier/researcher/member of unit 731 with pictures, research records and reports and everything. they stripped people naked and make them go outdoors in in under -20°celcius, turn on huge fans until they get frostbite. and then use woodsticks to hit on their arms and fingers to see if frostbite turns people frozen literally. and this is just one of the many more cruel and insane experiments, like freezing people's arms in a container, then immediately pour hot water on them and peel the skin off right away, forcing a mother and her newborn baby to enter a big metal microwave oven room basically, heat the room up until its unbearable to see if the mother would put the baby on the ground so she could step on it to just get some momentary relief.

unit 731 wasn't the only unit doing these, there were many others troops and units doing something similar in different parts of china that they invaded. biological weapons such as viruses, and diseases were tested on chinese people. and we haven't even mentioned the victims of the comfort women system that are found everywhere that the japanese had invaded. china, korea, south east asia. if the japanese soldiers weren't doing experiments, they were brutally torturing and killing civillians, women and children included for entertainment. they forced sons to rape their mothers, threw babies into the air and see who could pierce the most babies with their swords.

yet barely any international sites are covering the actual war crimes, and only news of their politicians once again visiting yasukini shrine.

also there's people nowadays who happily say they want to incorporate unit 731 real life events into their stories or art ... like what the actual fuck?? real people were hurt? and these things done to them were never acknowledged, or even gotten any apology from the japanese?

People defend dropping the atomik bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki by saying Japan committed war crimes in Nanjing or elsewhere, making it sound like the US did it in the name of justice for Koreans and Chinese, but then you learn afterwards the US pardoned the Japanese scientists who tortured and experimented on Chinese civilians in exchange for data. America did not care about civilians in East Asia, if they did they would've punished the war criminals instead of punishing all the civilians (including Koreans) that were in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

This is History Sunday. If you learn anything from this blog, is the inhumanity and hatred by the Japanese to the Chinese in WWII.

I am a historian, I studied mostly Europe, which I deeply regret not paying attention to Asia. I am 34. I learned about Unit 731 LAST YEAR and am deeply embarassed. This needs to be shown, it is horrific and unsettling but we need to acknowledge the past.
