gender essentialism is soooo funny bc it's like "this is what women are like" and you're like "I've met women and many of them, if not the majority, have not been like that" and it's like "well women SHOULD be like that" and you're like "why should women be like that" and its like "because that's what women are like"

Nothing new this week, but I realised I've not posted my Dark Mechanicum here. Simple concept, necromantic-themed differently-evil AdMech
The flesh is weak! Bone is another thing!

First up, a random assortment of Skitarii. Note the two battlesisters from the depths of my bitz box: I lost some skitarii torsos, and sisters are a surprisingly close match in size and layout to Skitarii.

And these are a Dragoon, an Ironstrider, and a Skeletarii marshal for scale.
These are my take on the classic Admech chicken walkers, made by lengthening the legs on Van Saar Arachnarigs. The lance is made from brass tubes cut to length and glued together with threadlocker.

Loving the armour on this Lion. NMM can look so cool, but actual metallic metallics catch the light so well when done right like this.

Welcome to the Angels Errant, Son of the Forest, primarch of the first legion, Lion El’Jonson.
Hey gang this took me a long while to finish but I’m very happy with how he came out. I hope y’all have a great day, drink some water, take your meds, tidy your rooms. Ok love you bye <3.

Another Wardog. Doing pretty decently at getting one of these painted in a week!
This one is a Stalker-pattern, working name "Pyre". It's job is to be annoying on the enemy flanks, chasing down isolated units.
Fun fact: those bird things are a minor Daemon called a "Pterrorshade". They are mecha otaku and follow the giant robots around.

On the back cover of Wall & Peace is a quote that will always live in my heart.
"There's no way you're getting a quote from us for your book"
- London Metropolitan Police
Asking I'm genuine interest: does anyone who follows me have anything to praise banksy over? Because I'd like to at least have checked my opinion of "hack"

Work in progress, since it's been a while since t posted anything.
#1 is a mostly stock Executioner with chaos torso/legs and the loyalist kit's Mechanicus shoulders and autocannon.
#2 is a 50/50 mix of chaos wardog and a Gothizar Harvester from AoS. Horrible bones monster ftw.
#3 is mostly a Forge Fiend with bits taken from a half dozen other kits. I particularly like the vultures perched on it.
#4 is a Wardog torso, Dunecrawler legs, and has half a necron in front of it's meltacannon mouth. I expect that to be fun to paint!

Mechanicum
I finished reading Mechanicum by Graham McNeill and it's really long and dense and I'm not going to write a full-length blog entry about it, because it's so goddamn dense that I felt the need to go back and read it again to be able to summarize it correctly for one of these entries, and that killed the momentum on this project. Sorry.
It's good. Graham is continuing to get better at writing interpersonal conflict. It suffers somewhat in retrospect from the core revelation of the text (that the Mechanicum of Mars seems to exist because the Emperor, in anticipation of needing tech support in the future, stuck a psychic being under the surface of Mars millennia ago that twists population obsession towards machine development and the abandonment of the flesh; probably a shard of the C'Tan Void Dragon) being something GW has not been interested in following up on, but I'm sure it felt cool in the moment.
Reading Tales of Heresy now. I will be honest, I am probably not going to write a long entry for that either. The call of the content creator to produce ever more long and sophisticated entries in their opus, perhaps best-exemplified by the YouTuber who starts off creating fifteen minute videos every couple of weeks and ends up creating hour-and-a-half film-quality documentaries every four years, applies even to lowly book report bloggers, it seems, and I'mma resist it. The point of this project (such that it can be described as "a project") was to document reading the Horus Heresy series. Apparently sometimes that's going to look like me popping up and saying "So I read this one; bye."

I once did some analysis, looking for accidental duplicates in a large set of pensions data. Important to clarify pensions, because it is normal for both parties in a married couple to have their name on the policy. Because married couples are around the same age (within 3 years each way), something like one in 2000 couples share a birthday.
I found a number of genuine duplicates (data entry errors, mostly), and one couple that shared an address, birthday, surname and were both "Alex". Luckily there was a note on their account clarifying that they were both real.
more people with the same first name should date. i want to study the linguistical influence
