I think we should really consider replacing, "shaming everything that makes me uncomfortable until it is entirely erased from existence," in fandom spaces with, "ignoring shitty behavior from strangers on the internet until it disappears from my radar and no longer bothers me, at least."

AI fic? No reading it, no commenting on it, no sharing examples on social media for outrage points. Do that enough, and perhaps the ones uploading AI fanfic will go the route of those tumblr posts along the lines of, "If you don't interact with fics and comment on them, eventually fic writers will stop posting to ao3!" Bam, problem solved.

Fic tropes/ships/etc that make you super uncomfortable to read? Same solution, and one of either: i) same ending, or ii) at least it no longer takes up a bunch of unpleasant space in your brain, and now maybe you can use all that free space to create more fic that you like, which still leads to a net gain in percentage of fics that make you happy on ao3/decline in percentage of fics that make you outraged.

Terrible takes being recirculated on tumblr in fandom [X], over and over by the same small but loud handful of blogs, until you want to grind your teeth to dust and launch yourself into space to escape? Block those blogs, follow more niche blogs that post some grass so you remember to go outside and touch some every so often, too, and make your own posts about the takes you'd love to see more of until they gain a bit of traction in the fandom by sheer force of numbers.

Trolls being trolls? This is one which fandom already used to have a very good answer for: Don't feed the trolls. Seriously. Trolls thrive on your outrage. Stop feeding it to them. Stop giving them a larger platform by elevating their voice on your blog. Your outrage doesn't hurt them. It helps them to grow.

Are fandom spaces influenced by broader social issues? Yes, of course they are.

Are fandom spaces dominated by people with significant social reach and power outside of niche fandom spaces? No. Absolutely not. These are not the people at risk of destroying anything except your personal sanity if you don't acknowledge and address them. If they are having their own harmless fun that just isn't about you, then you'll both be happier people by staying in your own lanes. If they are engaging in genuinely shitty behavior, then these are the people whose behavior you can influence by not giving them your attention no matter how much they want it.

Concerned that fandom spaces are overrun with Evil Things and Terrible People? Then you'll have a much better time if you stop spending a bunch of your own time and energy on shaming things you dislike out of existence, and try ignoring those things instead.

Don't reward shitty behavior from random nobodies on the internet with a bunch of your time and attention.

And don't feed the trolls.

Thinking about a concept where Juno swaps Annabeth and Reyna instead.

Annabeth and Reyna are fine, because they’ve always been able to handle just about anything the gods threw at them. Piper accidentally has her gay awakening via fake memories of a relationship with Reyna and is really confused why her girlfriend is acting so weird. Reyna and Leo bicker non-stop because even without her memories Reyna knows what she’s doing and she’s very used to getting people to listen to her but Leo will not be serious for even one second.

Percy would start fist fighting the gods in the first week. Jason has never been more stressed in his life because he never even wanted to be praetor but it was manageable while he was doing it with Reyna and now he’s alone. What the hell is he supposed to do.

By the time Annabeth shows up at Camp Jupiter, Jason is so relieved someone knows what they’re doing that he immediately asks her to be praetor, now if she’ll excuse him he needs to go have an anxiety meltdown in a corner somewhere
