Will LeBron James be in a Rockets uniform next season?
Coming into this 2017-18 NBA season, we knew that the Warriors would be great, currently sitting at the no. 2 spot in the Western Conference. Behind who? The Houston Rockets. Once again, the Rockets were projected to be a great team, but I don’t think that anybody saw how great they’ve been this year coming. They currently have the best record in the entire NBA, and for the first time since Kevin Durant decided to sign with Golden State, people are questioning whether or not the Warriors will make it back to the Finals. The Rockets have looked like an absolute juggernaut this year, blowing out opponent after opponent. Their offensive rating is on pace to be the greatest one that the NBA has ever seen. When the Rockets have Chris Paul, James Harden and Clint Capela in the lineup this season, they are 32-1. A nearly perfect record when their team is completely healthy, not to mention that they’ve already beaten the Warriors twice in three games this year. Now I know that whatever happens in the regular season doesn’t mean much come playoff time, but there is no denying that the Rockets are not only a legitimate threat to the Warriors, but also to LeBron and the Cavs should they meet in the Finals.
Likelihood
Now if the Rockets and the Cavaliers meet in the Finals this year and come out victorious, then it’s very unlikely that LeBron signs with them in free agency. Can you imagine the chaos that would cause throughout the league? It would also be seen as a weak move for LeBron if he were to join the guys who beat him, which is what Kevin Durant elected to do in the summer of 2016, when he signed with the Warriors after they had defeated his OKC Thunder team in the Western Conference Finals, blowing a 3-1 series lead in the process. Now if the Cavs don’t win the title this year to the Warriors, or dare I say, get eliminated before even reaching that point, then that makes the LeBron to the Rockets scenario more of a possibility, and definitely something to keep tabs on.
Fantasy squad
The Cavs haven’t been great this season. They’ve improved as of late since the trade deadline, but they still have a ways to go. The Rockets already look like a championship-caliber team. The main reason for that is the MVP play of superstar James Harden. Chris Paul has also been a huge part of their success. Now imagine adding the best player in the world in LeBron James to this team. They would instantly become the favorites to win the title over the Warriors. The Rockets would probably need to trade a few players to increase cap space for the King if he decides to come. Although as long as you got 3 stars on your squad, they can bring the best out of any role players you surround them with. It also helps that LeBron is best friends with Chris Paul. The two always speak about wanting to play with each other before they retire. If LeBron chooses to sign with the Houston Rockets this summer, the Warriors’ championship hopes will be in jeopardy, and that would mean more rings for the King.

Will LeBron James ‘Complete the Process’ and sign with the Sixers to join forces with Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid this summer?
There has been a lot of talk surrounding the possibility of LeBron James once again becoming a free agent and leaving the Cavs and the city of Cleveland for another franchise. The rumour of the King joining forces with the Sixers has been one of many, and it has gotten even more traction as of recently. Personally, I don’t believe that Philadelphia is a likely destination for Bron Bron, even if he does decide to ditch the Cavaliers. Teams like the Rockets and Spurs appear as better fits to me. Those two teams would give him a better chance at challenging the Warriors for an NBA title. There’s one problem with LeBron signing with the latter two teams I just mentioned: they’re in the Western conference. All basketball fans, and NBA fans in particular, recognize that the West has always been a more difficult conference to play in than the East, which is where LeBron has remained throughout his 15-year career. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he can’t win in the West. He’s the King, the greatest player in the world today, and any team that adds him would immediately become a championship contender if they weren’t already. If LeBron went to the Western conference however, he would meet the Warriors sometime before the NBA Finals, most likely in the conference finals. Now if they were to get past them and reach the finals, his team would be the heavy favorites over any Eastern conference team waiting for them on the other side. Beating the Warriors and then getting to the Finals would pretty much guarantee LeBron winning another title. If his goal is to stay in the Eastern conference however, then his best bet would be to either resign with the Cavs (depending on how competitive the roster is), or…..signing with the Sixers. Yes I know, the Sixers are a young inexperienced team, so I’m gonna explain why LeBron to the Sixers makes sense….and also why it doesn’t.
Why LeBron to the Sixers makes sense
The Cavs have struggled this season, especially on defense, so recently they made some changes to their roster, getting rid of guys like Dwyane Wade, Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas, and Jae Crowder. In total, they traded away 6 players and got 4 in return. These 4 new guys (Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., Rodney Hood, and George Hill) immediately made them a younger, more athletic team, not to mention drama-free. That’s nice and all, but can King James really rally behind this team as currently constructed and beat the Warriors, who all 4 All-Stars? Probably not. The Sixers have two young up and coming players, who’ll both be superstars within the next 2 years. Ben Simmons has even been compared to LeBron himself, while Joel Embiid looks like a mix of Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon, two Hall of Famers. The Sixers also have a young nucleus of guys who play hard every night. You pair LeBron up with Simmons and Embiid, and the Sixers instantly become a super team that can compete for championships in the future.
Why LeBron to the Sixers doesn’t make sense
The Sixers have been pretty terrible up until recently. The last time they made the playoffs was in 2012. LeBron didn’t even have an NBA title at the time; he has 3 now. Yes, Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid are excellent young players who’ll be superstars in no time, but they’re inexperienced. The Sixers are on pace to make the playoffs this year, but no one expects them to make any real noise once they get there. LeBron is at the point in his career where championships are all that matter, why would he join a team that barely has any playoff experience? Another question mark is the health of Embiid and Simmons. They both had to sit out their original rookie seasons due to injury (Embiid missed his first two seasons) and now even their 2017 no. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz is currently not playing due to a shoulder injury that has force him to change the way he shoots the basketball. He played just 4 games and may never regain his true shooting form again. This Sixers team does have a lot of potential to be a powerhouse in the near future, but even if the King were to join them this summer, would they beat Golden State in a 7-game series? Probably not, not now anyways, maybe in a couple more years when Simmons and Embiid have developed more. LeBron, who is 33, doesn’t have time to wait on these guys to develop. He wants to win more titles now.
