Quistis was honestly surprised when she gave her her name, she could tell the girl, Michele, still didn't like her or trust her. But, it would be easier to get back together than alone.

She nodded her head, took a quick look around, found a thinning in the trees, and headed that way, but skirted around it. She did NOT want to enter a clearing after hearing something big crashing through the shrubs, that was just asking to get eaten.

It was a clearing, and she slowed as she got to the edge, carefully keeping as quiet as she could. A T-rexaur was there snuffling at the carcass of several caterchipillars. She froze and fought back the magic inside her that wanted to burst out, turning away from the clearing and making her way quietly around it, as far from the t-rexaur as she could. She hoped the wind stayed in their favor, even though the stench was awful, and that Michele was following.

She wasn't very good with her whip yet, and even SeeD members had a hard time with t-rexaurs. Quistis did NOT want to tempt it in any way.

Born with it.

For a second, she is even more hostile, bristling at the concept that someone would just admit to having that kind of magic-- no one here is supposed to just have it. They're supposed to earn it, and it's not the sorceress stuff.

But Quistis tries to explain, and Michele tries to shake off the hostility; they still need to get back to Garden itself without being eaten, after all.

"Michele," she replies, and takes Quistis' hand to pull herself to her feet, brushing off the grime from her uniform skirt as best as she can. "I hate it here. I'm not an orphan." Another reason to be excluded from just about everything-- enrollment from Esthar is minimal at best, and right now, the only person who speaks the same mother tongue as her is Instructor Aki, and he's an unbearable jerk. To put it mildly.

Something moves in the trees at her back; her fingers curl around the training knife at her hip. Her leg doesn't hurt at all.

"I think we should run back," she adds. "That sounded big."

"Oh yes, because clothes are so easy to distract you with." Quistis huffed and rolled her eyes. "You were staring at my boobs, you're distraction is my advantage. And taking a shot when I can is what you keep telling me to do. So really, this is all your own fault."

She certainly hadn't worn it to distract him, she'd worn it because it's what she wears every time she works out. Just because they've been at this for hours now and it's loose and sagging with sweat, isn't her fault. At least, that's what she'll say if he complains about her cheating to anyone else.

Sometimes, it's easy to forget that she's probably more deadly than he is. Sometimes, he just gets distracted by how she looks in workout clothes.

And (he'd say unfortunately, but he'd had a great view down the front of her shirt a second ago), this was the latter time.

Seifer doesn't even see her punch coming, not fast enough to evade it, anyway.

He stumbles, heel catching on the edge of one of the mats, sending him on his ass without trying, and lays there for a second, trying to figure out what happened.

"You cheated," he decides finally, gently massaging his jaw to make sure she hasn't broken anything. But he can talk, so he's probably fine. "Wore that to distract me."
