V4 as Hungarian cards/Tell cards! Honestly idk which cards are the og Hungarian ones because there is another kind of deck where the aces are drawn differently, like I remember winter was an old lady and it had German text on, so I'm guessing it's the one I drew? Anyways I based this on my own deck. The only thing I really changed expect the characters is that I wrote the names of the seasons in their respective languages

First of all I hope I don't offend anyone with this
I think this is how the three partitons of Hungary would have went?
So Transylvania is the Principality of Transylvania that's obvious; semi-independent, vassal state of the Ottoman empire. Also, her territory included Partium. Quite liberal for the age, multicultural and this time was her glory era.
Noww the other two parts are a bit more difficult in sense of who would represent what, because there were two separate states which were both Hungary + Hungary was still in personal union with Croatia at the same time
Ottoman Hungary was directly under the control of the Ottoman Empire, and it's territory mostly consits of the majority nowaday's Hungary, and a good chunk of Croatia. This is the reason why I choose Hungary to represent this state. The complicated stuff comes with Croatia, because although it's territory was partly part of Ottoman Hungary, but they elected the Ferdinand I as the king, as did the other part of Hungary so that's why I didn't chose to represent him with Hungary.
Croatia is often forgotten and overlooked because of the personal union, and well the fact that people don't (or refuse to) understand that Hungary was always a multicultural kingdom, so I only think it's fair that he gets representation. Yeah the administrative/political stuff GREATLY changed after the partitions aka Croatia's autonomy suffered a lot which was only somehow restablized in 1868 ( but let's be honest, that was way too late. That's why I say that the route to the Treaty of Trianon started in 1526)
But this ties to my next point why I chose to represent the Kingdom of Hungary with Slovakia. I want to make clear a few words.
Hungarian= person who lives in Hungary
Magyar=the ethnicity itself
So, the KoH (and Croatia) were fully under Habsburg control at this time, and after Hungary was reunited, it had a brief independence during the revolution of '48-49, and only regained semi-independence with the compromise of 1867. (Hence the colour of the flag)
Slovakia during most of it's history, was core territory of Hungary, and during the partitions KoH's territory mainly consisted of nowaday's Slovakia. (I heard that the name Felvidék/Upper land /NOT UPPER HUNGARY/ was gaining popularity this time).
To make one more thing clear again, Slovaks were in this territory sooner than Magyars. But there weren't really ethnic issues until the 19th century, because national identity wasn't a thing. I mean eg. I've seen waaaay to many debates whether Hunyadi János/Ioan de Hunedoara was Magyar or Romanian but people didn't care about things like that back then lol and most of the administrative language was Latin anyways. If anything, this proves the exact thing, bc he had ties to both but nobody cared about it. Like, religion was taken way more seriously than nationality lmao
But that being said, again I think it's unfair that Slovakia is seen as nonexistent just because it was a part of Hungary without autonomy. Ofc, there were many other ethnic groups, but Slovakia is kind of a special case, because they like only lived here and did not have another part of the population to unite with or anything (after of course that part of the population (re)gained independence from the oppressing state. So like for example Romanians or Serbs. The only ethnic group in similar situation were Rusyns maybe depending if you want to consider them separately from Ukrainians but honestly I don't know enough to have an opinion on that so I'm just leaving it here.
Back to my point, Slovakia never really existed independently from Hungary or Czechia, but despite this he deserves to get a representation somehow, because like they didn't just suddenly appear as soon as Czechoslovakia split lol
So considering the points of
1. Territory roughly similar to nowaday's Slovakia
2. Ethnic issues weren't a thing
3. Great part of the territory was inhabited by Slovaks
He may have represented the KoH back then? It's just a theory anyway
So this have been an interesting thing to think about but then I remembered that Hungary was actually split in four parts for a while. This was the Principality of Upper Hungary, which was a vassal state of the Ottoman empire and this was supported by Transylvania, and existed for the astonishing amount of 3 years until it was defeated by the Habsburgs. Honestly idk about that. My brain is fried.

If I had a nickel for every time a shepherd has been killed for 300 sheeps by other shepherds and the shepherd's wife went to find her missing husband, found the remains with the help of the shepherd's dog, then found the killers too and outsmarted them to deliver justice, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
These were my exact thoughts when I sat in literature class and read "Barbárok" (Barbarians) from Móricz Zsigmond. Prior to this, only a few months ago have I read "Baltagul" (The Hatchet) from Mihail Sadoveanu. The two novels were written 2 years apart, the first being Baltagul, but it's practically impossible that Móricz has read it, because 1) he didn't speak Romanian 2) Hungarian translation came out much later and it's not like information spread that quickly in that time. So it's kinda incredible that not just the plot, but also the sociographic descriptions were very similar in the two novels lol (although, imo Baltagul was way better)
But the funny thing is this isn't the only occasion when almost identical literary works surfaced from these two countries (eg. Kőmíves Kelemenné & Meșterul Manole)
And yeah my brain went like I need to make a fanart about it so here is Hungary as Bodri's wife and nyo Romania as Vitoria

The text says: YOU! Scare-mongering counter-revolutionary, who is hiding in the dark, be afraid!
I made a redraw of one -if not the most - popular propaganda posters from the time of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, 1919. This poster is used to demonstrate the red terror, executed by the so-called Lenin boys (around 500 victims; the white terror had around 1000). The flower on the cap is a reference to the Aster Revolution of 1918 - the soldiers wore similar flowers on their cap who revolted against the Habsburg-regime and Charles IV.
My hc is that hetalia personifactions ≠ governments, but rather people + personal biases.
That being said, I think Hungary would have been a commie and helped the revolution opposed to the forced communism after ww2. Because this was -although by a coup- but still way more organic.
The people's influence can't really play in because the the Soviet Republic wasn't even a recognised state - like only the USSR recognised it because Kun Béla and Lenin were friends. Even Czechoslovakia and Romania didn't really recognize it although it was in war with them. To be more precise, the Romanian attack made the SFSRH collapse, and after that just anarchy remained.
Population was VERY much divided and chaos ruled everywhere, the borders were uncertain, so only her own biases could decide where she stood.
This would have been like a last strand of hope for her, because of the pent up hatred for the Monarchy + the desperation or losing 70% of her land, while her economy also crashed. At this time, she would have wanted to do anything to make the soviet regime work, but after the revolution failed she would have lost all faith she had in communism, hence she thought of the post-ww2 one as a thing bound to fail. This was the last slap on the face just before the biggest knife, the treaty of Trianon was stabbed into her.
I can imagine Poland mocking her post-Warsaw pact about how in the past she was a Lenin-boy and a big commie and now she acts all that hostile to anything communism related lmaoo

Did you know that there is a Hungarian-Bulgarian friendship day? Because I didn't until the day before yesterday. It's apparently on october 19th and I still don't understand why it exits but it's cool I guess?
So anyways, I needed to make self-indulgent fanart about it. Hungary's clothes this time are based on one of my mother's dresses.

People who read fanfics but don't interact with it, here's a harsh reminder:
Comment.
Comment like the fanfic's life depends on it, because it likely does.
The author behind it is writing this for fun, writing this to share with others, for free. Don't bother saying "Oh, they write it for themselves." No, not really.
Art is meant to be shared and enjoyed and discussed.
Comments are motivation for an author to keep going. Comments tell an author someone is enjoying their work.
Comments mean more than kudos! Kudos can only be given once and could be given early when a fic is young. But if people are reading but not commenting on later chapters, an author has no idea if anyone is enjoying or even reading their recent updates! They might think people have lost interest! An author might give up if not given a reminder that at least someone is reading and loving it.
"But I don't know what to comment!"
Easy! You've got several different styles to try! Mix and match if you want.
The simplest and quickest: Thanking the author for the update or maybe even just a 💚.
Screaming: Caps and chaos, scream at the author all your thoughts. I assure you, authors love seeing this:
“NOOOOO 😭😭😭 WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME??? ajdkskfjskfj”
You can even go further and write line by line as you 'live react' to the chapter/fic:
“Okay the opening is already killing me.” “OH MY GOD THEY FINALLY KISSED!!!” “WHY WOULD YOU END IT THERE???”
Quote: Pick out a quote from your favourite part and make a comment around it. Was it a good line? Did you really like what happened?
My favourite line is "she had more money than sense sometimes, but she’d hardly cry over this." It's a small one but I love how it conveys his attitude towards her mixed with his desire.
Hype: Maybe you don't have much to say, but just announcing your love is enough!
"I'm obsessed with this fic." or “frantically mashing the kudos button again and again"
Speculate: Guess what might be coming next!
"i wonder why lilli would rather Elikar take her and Cinnara 👀 👀"
Analyse: Offer thoughtful commentary on themes, motivates, foreshadowing, or symbolism. An author would be thrilled to see all the little details they might have written are being picked up!
"Her mentioning the magic being different somehow seems to imply she's already dimly aware of the sea's connection to Apocrypha, maybe?"
Just remember one crucial rule: Don't offer criticism unless you know each other and you've been asked.
Now go! Go support some of your favourite fanfics and authors! Show the love, and don't hide it behind discord servers!

Important backstory is:
The Ungarndeutsche/Donauschwaben came to the land after the the country reunited. Hungary was partitioned into 3 parts; the Kingdom of Hungary (which was independent in theory, but in practise it was a Habsburg colony), the Hódoltság/Ottoman Hungary, and the Principality of Transylvania.
Long story short, Habsburgs """liberated""" Hungary in 1699 (nearly after 150 years) the country reunited, except Transylvania which remained semi-independent until 1867. The old territory of Ottoman Hungary was basically destroyed, with drastically little amount of citizens remaining. Now, Schwabs arrived mostly under Maria Theresia's regime, but even before and after her. The reason for this was exactly the destruction I wrote about, and they were brought in with good-sounding promises of properties, and living duty free for a few years and such which were given to them, but their conditions were still next to unlivable. The best which can describe their situation was this little poem:
"Die ersten kriegen den Tod
Die zweiten die Not
Und erst die dritten das Brot."
(The firsts will get the death/ the seconds the need/and first the thirds the bread)
Meaning, only the third generation will be well off enough to eat regulary.
They mainly inhabited the "Schwäbische Türkei" (Swabian Turkey) aka nowadays' Transdanubia, mainly the counties of Baranya, Tolna, and Somogy. An odd one out, because it's in the Danube-Tisza Interfluve, but Bács-Kiskun county is another hot-spot of them. This day, it sure is, because the biggest and most prestigious school institution - or rather, institution centre - of Ungarndeutsche can be found there.
There is another version of our coat of arms but I like this one more, and it is also the more common one.
Also the culture of Ungarndeutsche is reeeeaally rich and sadly it's quite forgotten and not at all mentioned. Like we even have an anthem and shit lol (and it's very beautiful indeed even if I have a complicated relationship with it along with my ethnicity)
The ethnic minority question is not at all discussed in Hetalia while it's one of the most important historical questions, especially in Eastern/Balkan Europe, so I was like why not show it to people! Schwabs (and other Germans) are still the second largest minorty group in Hungary, and one of the 13 acknowledged nationalities in Hungary, although they are slowly assimilating to Hungarians.
(Because in Hungarian law acknowledged nationalities, and other ethnic minorities are differentiated.)
A radical decline in their numbers were of course after ww2, and most of Schwabs were sent into Siberia (even if they never set a foot in Germany), and they were forbidden to speak German. My family was lucky to stay here, but for example my grandfather can't speak German anymore and my mother and her siblings never learnt it, just me and my cousins (because we were all born after communism). My grandpa's siblings live in an another village nearby, but they speak Schwabish dialect at home, not Hungarian, because there are multiple Schwabisch families that live there, while our village is homogeneous. So the place really matters in assimilation. But like city names are still written out in German in many places.
I hope I managed to teach something new with the second part of this coat of arms series! :DD
I'm planning to do more, and more about the Ungarndeutsche!

Lmao this is why I can't take seriously that Serbia's human name is Vuk🥲🥲
For backstory, Vuk is like the most popular children's cartoon ever since the last 40 years at least in Hungary which is about a wolf pup, named Vuk. The text says: "Hipp-hopp, jön Vuk" (Hipp-hopp, Vuk comes) which is the like refrain line from the main song of the cartoon film. And uh, Vuk literally means wolf soo yeah
Swear, every time I read/write that name in a fanfic this annoying song starts playing in my head haha

I present you the very real Serbian-Hungarian Baranya-Baja Republic, established by a Serbian painter and leftist Hungarians, which existed for the astonishing amount of 8 days!
Long story short, after ww1 there was mere anarchy until the signing and ratification of the Treaty of Trianon in Hungary. During this period the definitive borders were still not set in stone; thousands were killed by both reds, whites and invadors and especially after the first Socialist Republic of Hungary fell, nobody knew who the head of state was. Because of this, dozens of Ephemeral States - Kérészállamok - appreared on the map for shorter or longer periods with various political ideologies and state forms - yes there were even kingdoms "established".
The SHBBR was a state like this, founded by Petar Dobrović, and the capital of it was Pécs, Linder Béla the major of the city being the co-funder. This was a puppet state of the Serb-Slovene-Croat Kingdom, and they later expected to unite with it. Socialist intellectual Hungarians also joined in, because they were afraid of the white terror and the persecution of the National Army of Horthy. Of course, it wasn't taken seriously by neither the Hungarian nor Serb half, and the National Army occupied the internationally not recognised "state". It existed from 14 august 1921 to 21 august 1921.
Personally, I reaaaly like this topic of history, even if it's pretty overlooked! There are a lot of other states like this which I've found very funny and interesting (like one of them was the first state ever to recognize the Soviet Union, and legalize also nudist beaches and drugs lmaooo) and I may draw them in the future!
Although, I don't think such short lived, non-recognized states would get a personification, but it's a too funny and obscure topic to ignore. (Tbh both Serbia and Hungary are ashamed of him probably lol)

I thought of doing some more educational bit now! Recently I researched about our coat of arms, so I was like why not share lol
Personally, this is not my fav coat of arms, the most beautiful variant in my opinion is the one from 1915 - although I'm not religious nor on a good opinion about the Monarchy. I'd prefer the Kossuth-coat of arms nowadays, but that's up to debate which would represent Hungary better.
On the double cross: what I found is not certain and I've seen a lot of other interpretations and explanations of it (like that it's meant to represent the union of Slavs -specifically Slovaks here as we lived together with them since the very beginning of the Hungarian state- and Magyars - I use this word here since in many languages there is a distincion between Magyar, the ethnic group and Hungarian, as one who lives in Hungary) but those were the ones I've found as the most common.
Also, the hills partly appeared because the cross only just floating in the air would have looked clunky.
I'm thinking about doing more works like this haha
