On a completely different note, I'm starting a project for grad school and job applications rn and might post some updates about it here. Gonna turn an esp32 into a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse controlled by an app on my phone. Nothing complicated but something to show I have some programming chops and the ability to complete a real project outside of education.

Just gave notice at my job, kinda mentally clocked out at this point so I'm gonna hopefully be interacting more online. Brain is filled with ideas and man I've been missing the time to really sink my teeth into some game or media recently, so with the extra energy I'm not spending at work hopefully i can shitpost here more. Got some applications in at the health department and stuff like that, hoping to get a job that isn't going to make my carpal tunnel worse. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled game clips.

Y'all I figured out why I didn't get scheduled for Valentine's Day despite working at a steakhouse that's prob gonna be insane. These fuckers got me coming in at 6 am the next day instead for the truck. Which like, fair enough, but I still don't know where anything goes in that store. I've worked a total of 6 shifts and have done nothing but mix things and prepare ungodly amount of fresh produce so how the fuck am I gonna know which cabinet the liquor goes in. I think they forgot I'm barely trained somewhere in the fancy knife skills.

Yo this new job is way too easy. My last boss was fucking insane paying me 14 an hour for how much work I was doing. Literally half as stressful and 3 dollars more an hour and I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to make decisions by company policy so I just get someone else to tell me what to make and then make it.

Food Service is weird

So I showed up for orientation at my new job, thankfully starting my training on Monday so I can start making money but that's beside the point. So I walk in, and 3 other people are being hired, and somehow my 22 yr old, trans, barely out of college self was the most put together hire of the 4 of us. Also the only back of house staff getting hired so like that does change things since demographics between front and back of house tend to be extremely different but still, it's definitely strange being one of the adults in the building when 2 years ago I was the part time college student.

So why does this canned bubble tea i just bought warn me about lead and cadmium but only in the state of California? I really want to know why that could ever be a concern about ending up in something made with tea, milk, starch, and basically nothing else. Nothing in the ingredients list contains lead or cadmium so what's up with this. Are they using lead acid batteries in the machinery? Nickel cadmium batteries somewhere? My curiosity is piqued and I will never have answers.

Gonna post here at least daily until i manage to leave the US. Could be gaming, could be memes, could be politics. Could just be complaining about working in kitchens. Who fucking knows?
