I've always said I'd never marry a writer. I know if i liked her I'd have to like her writing, it'd have to feel like she was spooning my insides out so she can put them in her hands and boast "Look!". It'd have to feel like worlds opening in my gut just so i can vomit them out before her feet. And if it was that good she'd be a great liar and I have had a proclivity for lying and lying well since i was a child.A bad habit i know I've quit,i try. And frankly it's a lack of care. I try not to handle anything without care. She and i would be playing a fucked up game of tennis throughout and I would love it and I would hate it.

I play with the idea of a sculptor. I imagine her hands messy in our garage she's turned into her studio and I'm considerate enough not to disturb this gentle meditation. I'd play the playlist I've made and kept for over two years with old and romantic classical music ,meticulously curated and well thought out for someone,someone i haven't met yet, because i think it would soothe her and help her work. And she won't know i only ever play it for her. She'd sculpt me too, parts of me; my hand,my nose,my bust. And it would be strange and affirming and conflicting to see myself.

Or I'd be with a scientist. We'll sit on our sofa and she'll explain her studies and she'll talk a lot with her hands and I'll admire her and be happy to learn from her and say "Thank you for teaching me." I'll try offer what little i know of the topic to the conversation and she'll be grateful for the effort. I'll send her related articles and ask her to explain even if it's so straight forward,just to hear her talk.
