On a night of a crescent moon, I accidentally time-traveled back to 19th century France.

There, I met a man with a sweet fragrance of cigarillos…

A great figure who left his mark in history known as “the versatile genius” — Leonardo da Vinci.

——— FLASHBACK ———

Leonardo: You’re an interesting one. A fascinating subject for my research, at least.

Mitsuki: A subject… for your research…?

Leonardo: A woman who came from a world that I don’t know interests me. In other words, it’s not a romantic interest.

——— END FLASHBACK ———

I’d never fall in love with him…or so I thought…

——— FLASHBACK ———

Leonardo: When I look at the people in this town, I think, ‘So that’s what it means to be alive.’

Mitsuki: What do you mean, to be alive?

Leonardo: A lot of things happen in life. There are days when you think it’s unfair, days when you want to cry.

Leonardo: In spite of that, everyone overcomes those days and tries their best to smile.

Leonardo: I…think that kind of outlook is beautiful… even precious.

Little by little, as I spent time with him as his ‘compagna provvisoria’, I began to learn more about Leonardo.

Leonardo: ‘I can’t let it get me down. I have to keep smiling properly,’ you said, and then you smiled. I thought it was courageous and admirable of you.

Leonardo: I understood it was your way of showing your consideration to the others.

Leonardo: …but for some reason, I couldn’t bear seeing you like that.

Staring at humans with a look of yearning in his eyes… 

He saw through my stubbornness, and opened up my heart with a kindness that was almost unfair.

——— FLASHBACK ———

Leonardo: A love that will only make you cry isn’t your destiny…

Leonardo: You deserve a love that fills your life with the greatest joy.

Mitsuki: …Leonardo…

Leonardo: So, don’t tell me that you want to become a vampire… Please never ask that of me again.

By the time I found out he was a pureblood vampire who could never die,

I had already fallen so in love with him that there was no turning back.

I, who live for a limited time, and you, who live for eternity…

We were hopelessly drawn to each other. Even though we kept passing by each other and hurt each other, we couldn’t give up.

That’s why I made a decision - I’d remain as a human and live my life to the fullest now, by your side.

With each and every passing moment, I realize what it is to be loved…

I have truly wandered into this paradise called you.

This is the story of a forbidden love between a human and a vampire.

One day, a while after I had decided to live with Leonardo in 19th century France…

Sebastian: It would be quicker if we split up to do the shopping.

Mitsuki: Fufu, I got too carried away and ended up buying more than usual… Oh! That’s the last store.

The bakery, liquor store, art supply store, tobacco shop… One by one, I packed the requested items into the basket. After busily visiting various stores, I finally stopped at the produce shop.

Mitsuki: Excuse me, I’d like some oranges and grapes…and also apricots please.

Shop Owner: Thank you for your continued patronage, miss!

The shop owner wrapped up all the fruit in a burlap sack and placed it on the counter.

Shop Owner: Take this, too!

A bright red color peered from the bag’s opening.

Mitsuki: Wow! These apples look delicious! Are you sure I can have this many?

Shop Owner: Leonardo fixed my cart for me the other day.

Shop Owner: At the time, I didn’t have enough to show my gratitude, so please try our freshly picked apples!

Mitsuki: Thank you! Apples are Leonardo’s favorite, so I think he’ll be pleased!

As I took the gift with a smile, voices from people in nearby shops and from people passing by started flying around.

Pub Owner: He painted our sign for us the day before yesterday too! Come over for a drink sometime, on the house!

Woman: I also had my child’s toy fixed the other day!

Woman: It’s a wind-up toy boat, and they’re so happy that it runs even faster than it did before!

Mitsuki: I’ll make sure to let Leonardo know!

Sebastian: As expected of Master Leonardo, the versatile master of all trades.

Versatile - The word I often hear used to describe Leonardo. 

(Though there are times he tries to deny it, saying things like he’s hopeless when it comes to cleaning his room, and that dancing isn’t his style…)

I smile to myself as I remember his weaknesses.

Mitsuki: We’ve got some great stuff; shall we head home?

With full baskets in hand, we made our way back to the mansion.

Mitsuki: Phew…

As I put the things we bought on the dining room table, an apple rolled out.

Dazai: Oh? It’s Isaac-kun’s favorite apples. There’s a whole bunch in the basket, isn’t that great?

Arthur: Heeere you go, Ai-chan~! Say ahhh~

Isaac: Wa-! Stop talking about apples! And don’t force the whole thing on me!

Mitsuki: Stop! This is a gift for Leonardo!

I confiscate the apple being passed around between them.

Arthur: So, you’re saying we can't eat these apples without Leonardo's permission?

Arthur: That’s too bad... isn't it, Ai-chan?

Isaac: Don’t get me involved in every single thing...

Dazai: If this was a gift from the people he helped around town, then it’s not something we should be taking lightly.

Dazai: Sorry about that. If that's the case, you should hurry and bring it to your lover.

My heart beats faster hearing him call Leonardo my lover. 

(I still can't get used to us being called that in front of everyone…) 

Dazai: Oh my, your cheeks are turning as red as an apple. 

Mitsuki: I… I'm going to give Leonardo the apples…! 

I quickly left the dining room, trying to escape everyone’s amused gazes.

——— SCENE CHANGE ———

As I stood before Leonardo’s room, I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

But as time passed, there was no reply. 

Mitsuki: Leonardo?

I quietly opened the door, but no one was in the room.

(Where could he have gone?) 

Mozart: Ugh, this room is as messy as ever. 

Suddenly I heard a voice, and when I turned around… 

Mitsuki: Wah… Mozart…and Jean. 

Mozart frowned at the terrible state of the room, which was visible from the open door. 

Mozart: I don't even want to take one step inside.

Jean: I've never seen a military tent as messy as this.

Though it might’ve been more acceptable to the usually candid Jean, it was unbearable for the neat-freak Mozart, who turned his eyes away from the room, as if he didn’t even want it in his field of vision.

Mitsuki: I just cleaned the room the other day…

Mitsuki: But Leonardo’s such a curious person, so it becomes like this immediately… 

Jean: He's able to collect so many things in here. It's completely different from my room. 

Mozart: Jean, I think you could do with adding some more things.

(Oh, that's right. I should try asking them…)

Mitsuki: By the way, have you seen Leonardo?

Jean: Unfortunately, I haven't.

Mozart: I haven’t either. I was holed up in the piano room until now. 

Jean: Sorry we couldn't be of help.

Mitsuki: It's okay, thank you! I'll try looking around. 

I parted ways with them and walked down the hallway. 

(Ah…this scent.)

Following the familiar sweet scent in the air, I entered the library, each shelf like a towering tree in a vast forest of books.

(There he is…) 

I found a sleeping Leonardo, leaning against a bookshelf.

(He can really fall asleep anywhere…)

I quietly approached him and gently placed the bag of apples beside him. 

I looked at his sleeping face, and a smile naturally appeared across mine. 

(He always acts like such a composed adult, but…)

(His defenseless sleeping face makes him look even more innocent and adorable than usual.)

(He looks so comfortable. I wonder if I should wake him up…)

As I crouched down to gaze at his face, resting my chin in my hands, precious memories suddenly came to mind. 

(The first time he kissed me…)

(and the first time I realized my feelings for Leonardo…was here.)

——— FLASHBACK ———

Leonardo: …You’re not hearing me.

Mitsuki: …Mm…!

——— ANOTHER FLASHBACK ———

Mitsuki: Leonardo… I like you.

Mitsuki: ...I've fallen in love with you… 

——— END FLASHBACK ———

(The first time I confessed to him was while he was sleeping…) 

(The situation in the past and now overlaps, and I feel my heart beating a little faster.)

Mitsuki: …Leonardo…I love you.

Mitsuki: Back then, now, and into the future… I will always love you. 

His bangs gently stirred from the whispered words that escaped my lips… 

Leonardo: …Can’t you say that to me while I'm awake, cara mia? 

Amber eyes appeared from behind closed eyelids.

Mitsuki: …! When did you wake up…? 

Leonardo: Let’s see… probably when I heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

Mitsuki: In other words, when I entered the room?

Seeing me turn bright red, Leonardo chuckled.

Leonardo: So? You won't say it directly to my face?

Mitsuki: That's… I'll say it as many times as you want…. I love you, Leonardo. (Now that our feelings have finally come together as lovers, I can confidently say that I love you, because I want to tell you…) Leonardo: Heh…I’m in trouble. I underestimated your straightforwardness.

Mitsuki: If you do something for me, then I’ll tell you… (Because it can be frustrating to say I love you so honestly…) Leonardo: An equal exchange, eh? So what do you want from me? Mitsuki: Well… the same words, of course. Leonardo: Heh, alright…

Mitsuki: I…I won’t say it unless it’s a special occasion. Leonardo: Heh… Even when you’re not being honest, you’re so adorable. Leonardo: But, isn’t it a special time now? Mitsuki: Huh? Leonardo: After all, there’s not a single moment we spend together that isn’t special.

At that moment, Leonardo wrapped his strong arms around me.

Mitsuki: Leonardo… 

As I struggled in his hold, I felt his breath graze against my ear. 

Leonardo: I love you… I love you, Mitsuki.

Even though it wasn't the first time I've been told… 

My chest tightens at Leonardo’s words filled with love.

Mitsuki: Seriously… it's so unfair when you say that… 

A kiss suddenly fell on my lips, as if to interrupt my protests.

My heart skipped a beat at the sight of his smile.

Leonardo: Now, it's your turn.

(...I can’t compete with him…) 

(No matter how many times I think about it… I just can't live without you by my side.)

In 19th century France, I accidentally found the place I felt at home… and what it means to live.

Mitsuki: I love you, Leonardo.

Hearing him express his feelings for me, I can’t help but smile and return those loving words.

(I want to live my life to the fullest… and with the limited time that I have, I want to love you until the end.)

Leonardo: …Mm…

I press my warm lips against his cigarillo-scented ones.

Leonardo: Hah…Mitsuki…

Leonardo shifted his body and held me even tighter. He settled me on his lap and placed kisses along my neck.

Mitsuki: Nn…We can’t… If this goes any further…

Leonardo: If you keep your voice down, no one will find out.

Mitsuki: I’m saying this because I can’t…

Leonardo: Heh.. this you being honest or something?

Leonardo: Unfortunately, the fire you’ve ignited can’t be stopped now. Guess you'll just have to do your best and hold on tight… 

Mitsuki: Huh? Wait…. L-Leonardo…

Beside us, bright red apples rolled along the floor.

Me, a human, and Leonardo, a pureblood…

Our forbidden love was still blossoming sweetly.

I was hoping Ikevamp EN server would be able to push through til Leonardo's sequel... but seeing as it won't be released, I'll be attempting to translate his sequel route.

Although I don't mainly post IkeVamp, it was my first game in the Ikemen Series. Visuals wise, I started for Faust, but as I was waiting for his release, I fell in love with Leonardo.

During a time when I was really struggling mentally, I found comfort in Leonardo's words and the way he showed his love. When I thought I was worthless, I could believe that at the very least, Leonardo didn't think I was.

It sucks knowing that so many JP (event) stories won't come to EN. Honestly, I'm a little wary about the future of Vamp JP too, but for now I'll just have to remain hopeful and continue to enjoy it as much as I can. I'm thankful that I was able to experience the wonderful characters and world of IkeVamp; that it led me into IkeSeries; that it inspired me to get better at drawing and helped me meet such lovely, creative people - some of which I get to now call friends.

I hope I'll be able to do Leonardo's sequel translation justice - please bear with me as I try to figure out how to go about it.

This is one of my favorite moments in Jude's main story that I really wanted to draw since his route release:

Jude is like a firework. It’s fierce, intense, and dangerous if you get too close, but no matter how hard you try to look away, you can’t. But at the same time, maybe because I’ve been watching Jude for so long, a sense of unease is born in me. (Just as no firework shines forever, there are times when it seems like Jude will vanish…..) The profile of the person next to me, seems like he will suddenly disappear without a word to anyone, without leaving anything behind…..

I've been getting in my own head lately about creating polished pieces, so I tried to experiment with a more... sketchy/textured paint-over style. Definitely a struggle when I'm still lacking in a lot of fundamentals! There are a few mistakes I couldn't manage to fix at this time, but maybe when the nagging voice in my head wins, I'll create a cleaned up version.
