Picture this - they're all together to discuss some student-run festival at some Campus Restaurant after school hours. The housewardens + others are planning it without Crowley (because The Sevens know he'll just push that responsibility onto them anyways).

However, the topic derails, and the boys start sharing what they miss from back home, and it's Yuu's turn to share. Yuu says that they miss their family, their pets, and... their partner.

Cue the drama, the fall out, the collective shock. Maybe Idia disconnects from the call, or Azul starts asking lots of questions. Feel free to make it angsty or comedic or whatever.

Hello! My requests are currently closed for everything except for the QNAU as stated in my bio. I'm sorry to respond to such a detailed ask this way :( but I don't have the time to take on larger fic requests at this time as I finalize the last of the late raffle prizes and other personal non-twst projects.

hi Jade! any specific mushrooms you've found that have stuck with you? I've recently started a collection and want to know more about your's.

[A/N: Sorry for the delay. My life got insane irl. -Akuma] Yuu pulled the next piece of paper out of the box to read it, eyes narrowing. A question for Jade again? Interesting. Maybe he was just popular or something. They felt like the group had been sitting in silence for a tad too long but didn't want to comment on it lest they earn Vil's anger somehow (he was a strict person, after all).

"Okay, so," they spoke, "This person says a 'hello' to Jade-san and wants to know what kind of mushrooms have stuck with him? They are starting their own collection of them, apparently..."

Yuu trailed off. How does one collect mushrooms? Like coins? Azul collected coins from what they knew (he told them once when they had to help out at the lounge).

"Ah, someone with an interest in mushrooms, how lovely," Jade said, clearly about to launch into a lecture about mushrooms, which had several people in the room (one being his twin) sighing already.

"I wish you'd give it a rest with the mushrooms," Floyd told him.

Floyd didn't want to ever even look at a mushroom again, not after the incident. Too many were lost that day... Mushrooms are bad.

"I have to agree, Jade," Azul added, "Once in a while, they prove useful, but it's taking up quite a lot of space at the lounge to have this many of your creations running loose amongst the customers."

Floyd looked over at Azul when the octopus merman piped up.

"Are you actually agreein' with me, Azul?"

"Yes, I am."

"You usually like Jade's mushrooms as a free ingredient supply."

"I've rethought that matter entirely, Floyd."

"Huh... Sick."

"Anyhow," Jade cut in, silencing the commentary about his hobby, "My terrariums include mostly common varieties of mushrooms on the campus and surrounding mountains. I haven't had the opportunity to grow anything rarer..."

His expression was wistful if not a bit scary for Azul and Floyd.

What was he planning to bring home next time?

"That said," the mushroom-loving eel continued, "My favorite type that I have come across here on Sage Island is a variety known as panellus pusillus. It looks like a tiny ping pong paddle and is bioluminescent."

Jade thought for a moment, smacking his brother without a second thought when Floyd tried to reach for the Prefect's box of questions to pick another one. Jade couldn't let Floyd be rude, not right now.

"It reminds me of something back home," Jade concluded, referencing his and Floyd's home in the Coral Sea.

"That seems..." Yuu said, trying to ignore the brotherly spat of five seconds prior, "Like a pretty mushroom. I like things that glow!"

They smiled at him, and the smile Jade returned was surprisingly soft compared to his scarier grins. Perhaps he had a softer side to him?

"Ugh, enough with the mushrooms already!" Floyd said, having grown even more bored of this whole setup, "Pick another one, Shrimpy!"

They jumped in their seat at his sudden volume.

"Oh... Okay!" they agreed, taking another slip from the box held by their sighing upperclassman, "And this one is for..."

So, no one will bat an eye if you just call them a good boy. I think this is important canon information. Compliment them more.

Writing characters who don’t know they’re in love

(PS: but literally everyone else does and is so tired)

These characters aren’t clueless, no, they’re not walking around like, “love? never heard of her.” They know something’s going on, they just won’t admit it (not to themselves, not to anyone.) Maybe they’re scared of messing it up, or maybe they think the other person doesn’t feel the same. Maybe they’ve stuffed the feeling so deep even a NASA rover couldn’t dig it out.

Whatever the reason, they’re not avoiding the truth as much as they’re…rebranding it. Calling it “friendship” while giving each other their only jacket and dreaming about each other’s voices like it’s totally normal behavior.

ꕤ They don’t realize it’s love, but they notice everything else. They clock every mood shift, every absence, every little thing. They definitely  know when something’s off.

⇢ “You changed your hair.” ⇢ “You looked upset earlier.” ⇢ “You didn’t text me back and I panicked.” ⇢ “You weren’t at lunch and it felt weird.” ⇢ “Are you cold?” hands over jacket without a second thought

They don’t say “I love you,” but their actions scream it constantly.

ꕤ they get weird when someone else gets close They’re not jealous. No, how dare you think something like that… they’re just keeping an eye out. For safety... Or whatever."

⇢ “Who was that?” ⇢ “Oh, you’re hanging out with them again?” ⇢ “I just think it’s interesting how you never cancel on them.”

They don’t say it, but they hate the idea of being replaced. It stings more than they’re ready to admit.

ꕤ they make excuses to be around each other.

Literally inventing reasons to be in the same space.

⇢ “Wanna study together? I’m struggling with this topic.” (They’re not.) ⇢ “Oh, I was just in the area.” (They weren’t.) ⇢ “You forgot this.” (It’s a single pen.)

They’d rather lie badly than admit, “I just wanted to see you.”

ꕤ  Their friends are so over it Everyone around them is either rooting for them or trying not to scream.

⇢ “You’re in love with them.” ⇢ “That’s not friendship, and you know it.” ⇢ “You made them soup. FUCKING SOUP. Just say you’re married already.” ⇢ “If I have to hear you talk about them one more time, I’m charging rent.”

Friends are the Greek chorus of this situation, like, brutally honest and endlessly tired.

ꕤ  There’s always a moment they almost figure it out That one soft, unspoken beat where the truth almost breaks through.

⇢ Watching them laugh like it’s the first time. ⇢ Seeing them cry and wanting to fix it more than anything. ⇢ Realizing no one else makes them feel like this. ⇢ Thinking, God, they’re beautiful.

Then they blink, panic a little, and go, “Huh. Weird.” And move on. Like absolute fools.

ꕤ  When it finally hits, it’s not cute, it’s catastrophic. Suddenly everything makes sense and feels like too much.

⇢ Flashbacks. ⇢ Internal screaming. ⇢ “Oh no.” ⇢ “OH MY GOD.” ⇢ “Has it always been this obvious??” ⇢ “Wait. Everyone knew?!”

Yes. Everyone. The friends, the neighbor’s cat. You were the only two who didn’t get the memo...

Let’s Talk About TWST Leaks…

The next update for TWST, Book 7.5 for TWST JP, will contain animated overblot scenes made by Cloverworks. TWST JP has released an important statement about the cutscenes…

They ask that NO ONE LEAK THE CONTENT before AUGUST 1 JST! As this content is very spoiler heavy. If you decide to post, while I and TWST highly encourage you do not post, just be warned that you will get bombarded with messages and harassment from the JP side. I understand that people want to see this content but I ask that people legit follow what TWST JP has asked of us and NOT share the clips!

If you see this content online BEFORE August 1st JST, please be civil and ask them to take the content down!

I understand people want to see it as they may not have access to TWST JP but they need to understand that posting this content before the date they give all clear is insensitive. You are contributing to the problem by basically saying the creators don’t matter, their voices don’t matter. Their rules don’t matter. That ideology needs to cease and people should understand that they are not always entitled to post whatever they want whenever they want, especially when it is laid out specifically in the game’s news on the app and website.

Do NOT contribute to the problem, if you do they may NEVER give this content again and you could ruin the experience for EVERYONE. It’s tempting, I get it, I understand fully, I will record them myself and schedule the video to release later on, specially on August 1st JP to share with you all.

Remember, posting this content before they say we may can prevent other impressive and exciting content from being released later on in the future, do not be a part of this problem, actually listen and don’t post this content anywhere. I

If it doesn’t impact the rest of the story, you didn’t raise the stakes

              I recently went back to a chapter at the midpoint of my novel and changed a huge detail of it because I thought it didn’t raise the stakes enough as it was. Because of this change, I had to go through every single scene and chapter beyond that point and edit it to fit in and make sense. It was annoying, but that’s how I knew I achieved what I wanted to.

              Raised stakes change everything about a story.

              If your characters can continue on as they were, then you didn’t really raise the stakes at all. This heightened pressure or danger has to be heightened enough that their lives as they know them are different now.

              Consider this: at the midpoint, you introduce a mutated form of a monster your characters have been facing that’s more deadly and intelligent than its predecessor. It’s a super scary scene, but after that, your characters go back to their safe house to talk over how best to kill it.

              Suddenly, this new monster doesn’t feel as much of a threat. It’s just another element of the same threat they’ve already been facing.

              To properly use this element as a way to raise the stakes, it should take away something the characters rely on—safety, allies, powers, etc. Something they can’t get back, and don’t get back for the rest of the story. They now have to adapt to new circumstances, and things will never be as easy for them again.

              So maybe instead, they flee to their safe house only to discover that it’s no longer safe—the monster is smart enough to get through their hidden entrance and corner them. Now they’re stuck out in the open, taking turns keeping watch and slowly deteriorating to sleeplessness and stress.

              That’s a delicious steak.
