about the corn racism jokes, i kind of understand how people may find it funny at first, sort of as a type of dark or unhinged humor, plus i'm pretty sure it's deriving off the 'robot racism' jokes that have gotten popular recently (lowkey scary that this kind of 'humor' is becoming so normalized btw). it's easy to brush off as a harmless joke, but just giving it a second thought makes you realize how wierd it really is. and i feel so bad for all the non white osc fans that have to see so many people say these types of things because they just don't understand how alienating and uncomfortable it is. i really hope people start getting the memo and let the 'joke' die already.

yeah ive been uncomfortable with the robot racism jokes since the start, especially since Once Again, they're deriving racist slurs from the n slur. it's disturbing to watch and i don't get what's funny about basically roleplaying racism for views?

every time someone says something like this "isn't that deep" it shames those who care and those who are hurting from something because it's forced down your throat that it's "harmless". jokes are some of the most digestible ways to spread discrimination. and just like how suicide jokes worsen your mental health, fake racist jokes are training your brain to follow those patterns too. there is no good faith way to make these sorts of jokes, it DOES hurt people and the less you gaf the more it becomes normal to you to hurt people and justify it by them being "overly sensitive". it's already not funny but it's ALSO a slippery slope.

OH MY GOD im so happy im not the only one made uncomfortable by the "corn racism!!" posts and jokes... i thought inwas just being sensitive at first lolll

ive talked about it with multiple friends of colour and they're all really uncomfortable with it so i know it's not an overreaction or anything... i don't get how pretending to be racist and pretending to say racist slurs is funny? it's creepy and embarrassing, especially since ive seen adults doing it too

it's not an excuse to say "it's not that deep" or anything of the sort when it is jokes mostly being made by white people that are disturbing people of colour in the fandom 😭 especially when some of the slurs being made up are based on the n slur, like today i saw "disgusting cobber" and it feels repulsive to look at. i hope people smarten up soon cause it is not funny or cute

i like popbot so here's what's wrong with them

poppy doesnt seem to be entirely aware that bot is a person and not just a machine (yet) ... how ironic that theres a preconceived notion that needs to be corrected in the "people bogged down by preconceived notions" ship

When I first saw this scene I thought that Poppy was talking about the blue-ray, but oh god, they're looking at Bot.

i'm pretty sure that this was done in ignorance rather than malice, seeing how Poppy is personality-wise, and how rapid-fire they're doing everything. Not a lot of thinking-through happening here!

They were also just brought into existence and didn't come from MePhone so the idea of sentient robotic life hasn't been introduced to them yet. When it is explained to them, I can see them asking a lottttttt of questions a bit too enthusiastically. It's going to be awkward, folks.

It is possible, that just like their robotic skills, some of their views on robots were carried over from Cobs, although I'm less inclined to believe it over simple ignorance.

Bot just kind of seems... dazed throughout all this. Which makes sense, they were just bashed in the head and briefly lost consciousness. Robot concussion. But it does mean that their reactions are subdued and difficult to read.

Poppy does get corrected by Test Tube, but they don't acknowledge it. I don't think that it really got entirely through to them, especially considering that after this they...

Not quite sure what to make of Bot's expressions here. This could be read a few conflicting ways.

Bot was disturbed by how Poppy talks about "tinkering with machines," since it was spoken in relation to them in a way that can be easily read as dehumanizing. They look back towards Test Tube for support. Earlier they had a negative reaction (although subdued) to Poppy talking about them as if they weren't a person.

Bot is in awe of Poppy's skills and immediate drive to help them, and looks back at Test Tube because they're concerned about Test Tube's hostility towards Poppy, seeing how Poppy did just save their life.

Or... maybe a mix of both! I don't and won't know until they get to interact again! The rest of the scenes here are of them reacting to others, and it doesn't lend into this discussion unfortunately.

OH WAIT IT DOES. Poppy interacts with MeTag as if they aren't a robot, and this could be because that single "Them!" from Test Tube put them into shape or maybe it's just because they've been fully briefed on who MeTag is. I don't know. This could all be totally bunk next episode but I'm having fun clinging onto my one kernel (hehe) of angst.

I'm really interested in seeing how this develops, if the writers go with it. I'd suppose that Poppy would not be able to be normal about Bot, for a little while at least. They'd probably ask them a lot of questions and just not be able to shake prioritizing the fact that they're a machine. Although I'm pretty sure they'll get over it relatively quickly, those two have a lot in common to talk about.
