a dear friend of mine who is about to start bg3 asked me which character i romanced and who my favorite is yesterday and like. it’s actually unbelievably fucking humiliating that one of the bg3 characters that im most frequently rotating in my mind is the lawful evil goth loser who is wearing the magic equivalent of a weighted blanket while trying to plunge the world into totalitarian dictatorship. instead of literally anyone else

My personal thoughts on Gortash because Dark Urge playthrough has got me feeling things. (inspired by concept art)

First off all : baby Flymm

Young Enver had short hair because you can't look at the lower city and tell me lice/and or fleas are not an issue in the summer time.

Had a lot of brains (artificers be tinkering) and a lot of attitude but exactly zero friends. (pre-charisma Gortash)

He had to grow into his ears.

Sold by parents. Teen G:

Long hair because it's not like Raphael or his jailers care about the grooming of their child slaves.

The actual start of "Gortash" because he is leveling his intelligence in the archives of HOH as well as learning how charisma can be used to manipulate and thus control people. (Harleep using sexual manipulation on envoys sent from arch devils, Raph using honeyed words to lure people into selling their souls, ect ect )

Cuts his hair, starts arms trading

Duke Goratsh:

I like the idea that when he is rubbing elbows with the upper class of Baldur's Gate he has the slicked back hairstyle and outfit we see in the concept art. Always in control and impeccably dressed.

(except for one little peace of hair that won't be gelled down)

Makes a point of never looking "poor" again, so the Patriars and elite can't look down on his appearance or origins.

Casual Gortash:

The in-game design as we know it

Hair down, tits out, full of ink stains as he designs weapons and war machines for 3 days straight.

Actually likes having his tits out because he runs hot (probably cuz he's "burly" as the steamy in game letter says) ( also my durge runs cold ¬‿¬) but will only do so in the privacy of his own home/office.

Also looks like this when he is with Durge. Casual and comfortable but still (in his opinion) stylish. The concept arts in question:
