A rusty old first-aid kit I made out of a Star Wars lunchbox. This was one of the most involved projects I’d done up to that point, combining my experience in digital and vector art with prop-making techniques.
The only thing really unique about this build was the way I emulated the flow of ink on the labels. In certain types of old label, the ink can pool around the edges of an ink press, creating a thick, dark edge that doesn’t wear as easily as the middle. This, as well as the faint halo of bleeding ink, were created with simple drop shadows. The labels were then soaked in water and gently rubbed to smooth them and simulate years of wear.

A series of wands I made for a Harry Potter event at my old workplace. They were made by whittling dowels with a knife, then adding details with modeling clay and wooden finials.
I developed a painting technique for realistic wood grain by blending in several layers of streaks in darker and lighter colors while the paint was still wet.
