Lindsey Buckingham called me Kooky. Don Henley called me a coyote. I blog about them and life and other things.

July 10, 2001: Endings, Beginnings, & Meeting Brian Wilson
July 10, 2001: Endings, Beginnings, & Meeting Brian Wilson
I realized recently that I’m approaching 30 years (!!!) of seeing my faves in concert—I’m on year 27, which kicked off with Mr. Coyote and I seeing the band Chicago at Casino Rama in April. Amazing start to the year! I saw my first concert in 1996, The Beach Boys at Kingswood Music Theatre inside Canada’s Wonderland amusement park near Toronto with my dad, a lifelong Beach Boys fan. The longest…

Dallas Dreams: Don Henley Runaway Tours 2016, Part 5
Dallas Dreams Part 5: Waking up from the dream that was meeting Don Henley at the @GaylordTexan @RunawayTours in 2016. And realizing just how much this all meant, when an old memory comes to the surface. The end of my very favourite story.
This is part 5 of a 5 part series. Missed the rest? Click through for parts one, two, three, and four—the show! MAY 2, 2016 Quack. Quack. Quack. Stunned that I’d had the presence of mind to set an alarm at all, I rolled over to tell my ducky ringtone to go back to sleep for awhile. Don’t make me leave, I thought. I live here now. The rational part of my mind went over the logistics of my…

Dallas Dreams: Don Henley Runaway Tours 2016, Part 4 (The Show!)
Happy Birthday, Don Henley! Here's Dallas Dreams Part 4: The @RunawayTours show back in 2016, where this Coyote finished off her bucket list by meeting Don. Tons of details, whatever I could remember...and an incredible moment I'll never, ever get over.
This is part 4 of a 5 part series. Click here for part one, here for part 2, and here for part 3! MAY 1 2016 First, a BIG DISCLAIMER: This is not a review. It is not comprehensive, and there’s no setlist. I remember most of this show, but not all, and in bits and pieces. And it’s not owing to the years that have passed since then. I never did remember everything, because I was just overwhelmed…

Dallas Dreams: Don Henley Runaway Tours 2016, Part 3
Dallas Dreams Part 3: Exploring the absolutely breathtaking @GaylordTexan Resort on May 1, 2016, then getting ready to meet Don Henley @RunawayTours! Tons and tons and tons of photos abound in this one. The prettiest place I have ever been.
This is part 3 of a 5 part series. Click here for part one, and here for part 2! “If I’m alive in the morning, I’ll be alive in a dream…”Eagles, “Chug All Night” MAY 1, 2016 Alive in a dream I was. I woke up surprisingly early, and as soon as I opened my eyes I was raring to go. I’m telling you, it was a whole different world down there. That never happens! I ordered room service for…

Dallas Dreams: Don Henley Runaway Tours 2016, Part 2
Dallas Dreams, Part 2: The Coyote arrives at the @GaylordTexan, picks up her @RunawayTours swag so she can meet Don Henley, and explores the gorgeous hotel. Lots of photos here!
This is part 2 of a 5 part series. Missed the first part? Click here to go back! APRIL 30, 2016 The hotel looked huge and imposing from outside, but that had nothing on the inside. I walked in and just stood there for a moment, looking around, mesmerized. And lost. “Can I help you ma’am?” “Oh, uh,” I stammered, having not even seen the greeter. “I’m sorry, I think this hotel is bigger than…

Dallas Dreams: Don Henley Runaway Tours 2016, Part 1
Dallas Dreams, Part 1: In which the Coyote finds out what @RunawayTours is and flies off to meet Don Henley and complete her bucket list in 2016, through tornados and terrible timing. This is the 1st of 5 parts, and is my favourite story of all.
MARCH 10, 2016 Reluctantly, I stood up from the break room table. Lunch hour over, I picked up my phone and started towards the door. Buzzzz. “Well, I should check that email before I go back out,” the procrastinator in me thought. I stopped, clicked the Mail icon. ULTIMATE FAN EXPERIENCE, my inbox proclaimed. The sender line read Don Henley. I’ve never clicked anything so fast. I don’t…

Before there were shows, there were fan letters.
Before there were shows, there were fan letters. And once upon a time, @BrianWilsonLive actually answered mine. ❤️
Before I was a Coyote, before I was Kooky, before I even knew what a Lindsey Buckingham was, I found the Beach Boys. In grade 5, we were told to pick either the Beatles or the Beach Boys and do a project on their history and songs. (I don’t know why those were the only choices…my teacher that year was brand new and a little strange, maybe she was a fan of both?) I knew more Beach Boys songs…

So long, 2020, the “All is Lost” moment in the world’s screenplay.
Lots of feelings this New Year’s Eve. Thoughts on 2020, my life 20 years ago, and the “All is Lost” moment.
If I wrote a screenplay of my life, late December, 2000 would be the “All is Lost“* point. The lowest point for the protagonist, the point where it cannot get any worse but you also can’t figure out how it could ever get better for them. I flew to Toronto from Virginia on Christmas Day, 2000. It was mostly a practical decision; my 6 months in the US (the longest Canadians can stay without any…

All your hope is gone, It’s not that funny, is it?
All your hope is gone, It’s not that funny, is it?
And here we are, another world away from that last post in April.
There have been many times I’ve intended to write, wanted to write.
But the hope I spoke of in April hasn’t made it this far, and it’s hard to write about the things I’ve done when in my heart, it just feels like writing about lasts.
The last show I saw was nearly a year ago now, a Walden Woods event in Boston in 2019. My body…

Hope, for no reason.
I wrote this days ago, and struggled with posting it. Finally scheduled it to go up so I could stop debating, lol. Just felt like getting my thoughts out there in all of this weirdness.
Man, we’re a whole world away from my last post, aren’t we?
I’ve been trying hard to come up with words for this, as I suddenly work my regular job full time from my little spare room, surrounded by photos and souvenirs of 20+ years spent Coyote-ing across North America. Sometimes, those wonderful memories are hard to look at these days.

They do make for some pretty cool office mates, though.
I’…

Everything happens for a reason?
I hate missing posting days! Messes me up, as I have lots of stories to tell and I love telling them here.
However on Thursday, I had something else to write. My resume.
Without going into too much detail, immediately following my dad’s accident, I was put on a performance plan at work. It  ends in late September in termination, should I not meet the requirements which are purposely very…

Viva Las Vegas!
Viva Las Vegas! The Lindsey Buckingham '20 Comeback Special, and the 2007 trek that changed everything.
It’s been exactly one week since the news hit.
Lindsey Buckingham. Â On tour. Â Spring 2020.
What?!?!?!?!?!
I was at work, fangirling uncontrollably, being the worst possible mentor to my new employee.  Yes, boss lady squees and dances and smiles so wide her face hurts when news of a tour drops.  I’m super professional!
But seriously. Â This tour, of all tours. Â How could I not freak out!?
When we…

A Coyote gets back on the horse.

Long time no blog!
Long time no much of anything, really. This has been a stressful year so far.
Right after my last blog, I embarked on 3 solid months of working 2 jobs. One was supposed to be a part time side gig, but quickly turned into near-full time hours, and the only days off I had in May and June were by request because of things I had to do, like an out of town wedding. Not restful by…

So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains...
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains…
Record show day dawned cold and rainy and grey. This was my first day off since March 3rd, thanks to newly working 2 jobs, and I had no intention of getting out early.

I decided to rep all 3 of my music fandoms, Lindsey for strength and my Eagles VIP merch bag from 2014, which carried home the t-shirt I won in a raffle, for luck. And of course, the cursed book, for freedom.
By the time I pulled…

Memories, projects and cursed objects

Out of my brand new Supernatural fandom last year, I found a perfect term for a thing that I have carried with me through 7 moves (I counted), over 700 kilometres, for 16 years: a cursed object.
According to the Supernatural wiki, cursed objects are “objects imbued with black magic, that cause bad luck and misfortune, and in the most extreme case, can cause death.”
Mine’s certainly not as severe…

Remember where you come from, Remember who you are...
Remember where you come from, Remember who you are…
That line, from the Eagles’ “Fast Company”, has been echoing in my mind a lot lately.
I’ve had a weird health issue/injury for awhile now (nothing dire, just uncomfortable) and the inactivity caused by that, in addition to the freezing cold weather and feet of snow, has contributed to a lovely depression these last few months. And as anyone who’s struggled with mental illness knows, when you’re…
