My once in a Lifetime pedal Journey It was the first wave of pandemic when i started riding my bicycle. "Pandemic Cyclist", that's what they call us- Those young people who developed their interest in biking when pandemic started. Personally, i really love going to place-either by foot, by wheels or this one- by pedal. The pandemic had a great impact to me as an individual who loves to go to different places. As if i was chained at home bearing the burden of boredom and longing to go out. It was a dilemma. I used to do other chores but it seems like there is something missing in me. AFTER THE LOCKDOWNS AND THE STRICT IMPLEMENTATION OF PROTOCOLS, FINALLY, THEY OPENED BORDERS BUT, STILL, WITH RESTRICTIONS. IT HAS BEEN A FULFILLMENT, A DREAM AND A HAPPINESS TO MOVE OUT AGAIN. AFTER MONTHS OF CONFINING AT HOME, BORED. THAT IS WHY I NEVER HAD A SECOND THOUGHT USING MY PEDAL BUDDY, MY BICYCLE. WE HAD EACH OTHER'S BACK. WE GO PLACES I'VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE WITH MY ONLY BELOVED PEDAL BUDDY. ON MY WAY, I MET DIFFERENT SOULS OF THE SAME INTEREST WAVING THEIR HANDS TO SHOW COURTESY. I HAVE EVEN GAINED SEVERAL FRIENDS WHILE GOING TO PLACES LIKE ILAGAN , SIMMACBOT , SANTIAGO AND A LOT MORE PLACES I THOUGHT I COULD NOT VISIT BY JUST RIDING A BIKE. IT WAS A FULFILLING ONE. EVERY PAIN IS WORTH IT. EVERY PEDAL, EVERY UPHILL CLIMB AND DOWNHILL SLIDES ARE SUCH A BLISS IN WHICH MY SOUL REALLY EXCITED TO PLUNGE. IT WAS A FASCINATING AND ENJOYABLE JOURNEY. THE COMING OF THE SCHOOL YEARS DIDNT HINDER ME TO CONTINUE MY PANDEMIC HOBBY. IN FACT, I WAS SHOCKED WHEN SOME OF MY CLASSMATES HAS DEVELOP THE SAME INTEREST AS ME. SINCE MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING HAS BEEN OUR MODE OF EDUCATION, I HAD A LOT MORE TIME GOING OUT TO BIKE WITH MY FRIENDS AND BUDDIES. IT WAS A FULFILLMENT, IT IS FREEDOM IT IS WONDERFUL.

I imagined myself as a bird flying freely across the sky while enjoying my company of friends. I know that life, sometimes, has its ups and downs. Whenever i am sad, weary, tired and in pain, i prompt myself to ride my bike and take me to places i've never been to ease the pain, the uneasiness and the weariness. This has been my kind of relaxation, a therapy, perhaps. My family has always been supporting me since the day i choose to ride my pedal buddy and it changed me a lot. A lot, really- by the way i view life, the world, the people around me and my outlook in life. Above all, it changed me to become a better person worth emulating. As cycling taught me about perseverance, patience, strength, and confidence which, i didnt gain by simply staying at home. I can say that this pandemic made me some realizations and taught me lessons as well. I know that there are still places i want to explore and i still want to sojourn it with my travel buddy, my pedal buddy, my bicycle.

This time, i want to tell everyone to move out from your comfort zones. This pandemic taught us some lessons on resilience, love and strength. Resilience in all the aspects of life and being firm and strong as a person and most of all sharing and imparting Love to others.
