Our Easter Holiday Adventure in Scotland
Last week, we embarked on a memorable Easter holiday adventure from Yorkshire to Scotland after staying at my sister's house. We managed to find a fantastic deal on an Airbnb room in Newtyle, a charming village located in the southeast of Scotland, not far from Dundee. Our cosy accommodation included everything we needed - a bed, table, sofa, and kitchen - all in one space, situated in an annexe attached to the main house. Despite the somewhat questionable scaffolding covering our Tesla, the underfloor heating and functional amenities made our stay quite comfortable.
Upon arrival, we ventured out for a leisurely walk around Newtyle. While there wasn't much to see in the area, the soothing hum of bugs and bees accompanied our exploration. That evening, we enjoyed a delicious homemade pasta dinner before settling in for the night.
We kicked off our first full day in Scotland with an early start, heading out at 9 am for a drive to the stunning Cairngorms National Park. Along the way, we stopped to charge our car, picked up a Starbucks coffee and an ice peach tea, and grabbed some Easter eggs from Home Bargains. With our refreshments in hand, we continued our journey through the breathtakingly scenic route known as the Snow Roads.

After a delightful drive, we arrived at the Linn of Dee car park, where Francis, my Frenchie, and I went for a mesmerizing walk. The beauty of the place was reminiscent of Yellowstone National Park, with clear running water, rocks, and a picturesque path surrounded by lush woodland. It was undoubtedly one of the most enchanting dog walks we've ever experienced.

Next, we visited Balmoral Castle and its expansive grounds. I stood in the Balmoral part of the river, striking a teapot pose before we embarked on a hike up to Prince Albert's Pyramid. The ascent was exhausting, but the breathtaking views from the top made it all worthwhile as we leaned against the pyramid to rest and take in the scenery.

After our hike, we hopped back into the car and retraced our steps along the scenic route to recharge our Tesla. On our way back to Newtyle, we decided to take a detour through Dundee, a city rumored to be one of the rougher areas of Scotland. To our surprise, Dundee appeared quite charming and pleasant. As night fell, we took in a spectacular view from Dundee Law before crossing the impressive bridge that seemed to stretch on for miles.
Our Easter holiday adventure in Scotland has been filled with unforgettable moments, and we're excited to see what else this beautiful country has in store for us.
