Week 6 - Shifting Focus: From Transport to Crime Control - Exploring a Solution to the PNP Challenge
Following our validation of the Bus Tracker App idea with Cagayan Villanueva Transport and Multipurpose Service Cooperative (CAVITRAMPSCO), we have decided to drop the project. We acknowledged that transport cooperatives cannot be solely responsible for commuting issues, and that implementing GPS tracking would entail financial burdens such as payment to Google Maps API. Instead, we have shifted our attention to a portion of the PNP Challenge presented in class, which is "No System to aid the PNP-COCPO in improving the city's crime control and efficient deployment of resources (personnel & mobile)."
Our new solution involves the use of a system that collects data over time, such as the number of crimes reported each day in each barangay in CDO City, to identify crime hotspots. With this information, resources can be allocated more effectively to improve the city's safety and security. While we had to abandon the Bus Tracker App idea, we were able to repurpose our efforts towards a solution that could aid the PNP-COCPO in addressing their challenges.

WK5 - Validating the Idea to the CAVITRAMPSCO
We conducted an interview with the Cagayan Villanueva Transport and Multipurpose Service Cooperative (CAVITRAMPSCO) to validate our Bus Tracker App project idea. During the discussion, we presented the daily commuting problems that the app aims to solve, and the cooperative manager responded positively, indicating that they don't have any solutions to these problems. However, we discovered that CAVITRAMPSCO faces a significant challenge in implementing our tracker idea due to the unavailability of the required devices such as GPS trackers, cameras, and Automated Fare Collection Systems (AFCS) in their modern units. Consequently, they are struggling to find the budget to cover the installation costs, which would lead to the coop's ineligibility for renewal if not installed.
After careful consideration, we proposed a possible solution that the Bus Tracker App could be a source of additional income for the cooperative by having commuters pay for subscriptions to use the app's service. This income could help the cooperative cover the installation costs and other expenses. In conclusion, our interview with CAVITRAMPSCO provided us with valuable insights into the transport cooperatives' challenges and limitations they face while implementing our Bus Tracker App project.

Week 2: Rejection Therapy and Project Idea Validation
Our instructor gave us 2 task for this week, the Rejection Therapy and Project Idea Validation.
The first task was the rejection therapy test. We were tasked to ask 2-3 strangers with silly requests and expect them to reject us, but if they accept and give us something we asked for, then it will be a bonus for us. Unfortunately, both of them didn't give me 100 pesos, which is still okay. The purpose of this exercise is to help us improve our acceptance and become more comfortable with rejection.
The second task was to develop three project ideas for a technology entrepreneurship course and validate them with potential customers. Digital attendance, a home service app, and a bus tracker app were our three ideas. Our instructor rejected the first idea because it was aimed at student organizations that might not have the financial resources to support the app.
So my group then focused on the bus tracker app because it received more positive feedback than the home service app, especially from commuters who were eager for a reliable way to track public transportation.
We learned from these tasks that coming up with ideas on our own does not guarantee public approval. It's essential to test our ideas with potential customers and respond to their feedbacks.
