Hz 105 has honestly really solidified for me that amethio will most likely join the rvts by the end of this arc. The moment they chose to separate him from Zir and Conia I already started to believe in it, because adding 3 new members to the ship would make things waaayyy too bloated, so going out of their way to make amethio be on his own feels like deliberate set up for when he joins.

I think the focus for amethio during the rest of this arc is definitely going to be about him understanding what it truly means to forge his own path, and that it’s not something he necessarily needs to do alone. A lot of his emotional development in the series so far has been all about relying on and trusting other people.

He learns to trust Zir and Conia enough to treat them more as friends rather than coworkers, he learns to battle alongside Liko and co, having Zir and Conia act without being in contact with him is a MASSIVE show of trust from him as he knows he can fully rely on them… and now he’s done something as simple as learning the value in sharing company with others. The focal point of Amethio’s development has always been about relying on others. So for me, the culmination of this would be him actively putting himself in an environment all about community and relying on others.

And also just from a meta perspective: they’re clearly not aligning amethio with the explorers for the foreseeable future and he needs to go somewhere on the relationship chart. There’d be plenty of space for him in the rvt part if they just remove the mega evolution bit. There’s a pattern of the second arc of the year being named after the rakua trio’s main pokemon, and with legends Za releasing about the same time next arc will begin I think there’s a very high chance it’ll be named after zygarde. So it kinda follows that the character with zygarde should be pretty present for that arc.

Tbh i’m pretty certain we’ll never get those agonisingly long gaps with no amethio for like 10 weeks again. I don’t expect him to show up next ep as it’s ult centric, and the one after that is probably Roy timeskip backstory. But 107 is about Liko’s charcadet, so i wouldn’t be surprised if we get a small update on amethio’s progress with zygarde. The episode is also written by Dai Sato who usually handles the bigger episodes, so they’d want one of those writers if amethio’s gonna pop up. I also think there’s a high chance we’ll get another amethio centric ep before the arc climax? They’ve been pushing him alooot on the official twitter, giving him a banner and that design sheet comparing all his outfits (which they notably only also did for the trio). I think we’ll definitely get an episode about him meeting zygarde, and how that influences his path. I’d also like for him to encounter the effects of strong spheres so he can see Spinel’s damage for himself. I could see him reaching the conclusion of going to the rvt as a potential parallel to The explorers closing in on them for the usual climatic battle of the arc..

I think it’s really important that amethio experiences the environment of the rvts so that he can use what he learns from them when he most likely reforms the explorers at the end. Even when absent, Friede would still be influencing amethio because this is the place that he built. Everything in the rvts can be basically traced back to Friede, so Amethio would literally be trying to recreate the home Friede built.. I really like this as the culmination of Friede’s influence on Amethio tbh. What if we were rivals but my sheer influence on the people around me indirectly causes you to change the cold environment you were raised in for the better..

It’s also a really nice way to bring the rakua trio full circle. Gibeon started his story as someone who could trust his friends easily and relied on them, but their perceived betrayal caused him to become cold and isolated from everything.. whereas amethio started as someone who didn’t feel the need to keep anyone at arms length, but is slowly learning the value of trust and company. And as a result, the bloodlines that had been at conflict with one another will be reunited as friends and travel companions once more.

It feels waayyy too deliberate to me that Friede mentions paths in this particular line, I think it applies to Amethio very nicely.

I could be completely wrong but tbh I just don’t see what else they could do with his character. If he doesn’t join up with them he’ll kinda just be in off screen land doing a whole lot of nothing. Last ep proved that they’re willing to put him in more comedic situations now, so idk it just feels like to me that they’re really trying to ease him into fitting in with the rvt environment.

In the next ep, what if Ludlow becomes a sort of uncle iroh mentor figure for Ame? Like he takes one look at the worn-out sallow teen he rescued from drowning and decides to teach him how to make curry and brew hot tea over a fire and later takes him shopping for new clothes and shoes!

I think it would be really cute if he ends up respecting him! Even better if he becomes a Mighty G fan lol. I’m not too sure if we’ll get the new ame fit just yet, I feel like they’re saving it for after he gets zygarde, it would properly symbolise him taking a big step in taking on gibeon’s will again. I saw someone else talk about how the tattered explorers uniform could represent that he’s not quite ready to let go of his more loner like lifestyle, so when he puts on a new fit it’s to represent a big change within him. But yeah i think Ludlow will have lots of good wisdom for amethio, bonus points if he gets amethio to laugh at his jokes too

Amethio potentially being the only one to know about mighty G’s true identity is a pretty neat parallel to Liko being the only one to see palafins transformation… and that ep also introduced Mighty G. Actually so excited for this dynamic i’ve always wanted it but didn’t really expect to get it… they didn’t really touch much on amethios guilt over gibeon, so maybe he’ll talk about it with ludlow? curry is a big deal in hz, it’ll be the first time we see amethio eat on screen (his ass burnt that berry before he could eat it lmao) and just genuinely means a lot in terms of characters bonding. So I think the connection the two form is going to be really special and important for amethio’s arc. Also it’s really funny to me that amethio finally locks in and immediately gets blasted by a storm, potentially nearly drowning judging by the ep description 💀 someone give this kid a break pls

New reference sheet for amethio… happy birthday to me I guess?? Kinda hard to tell how much taller he is, considering his shirt is loose he must have grown somewhat. Makes me really sad seeing his repeated side expression with his mouth open and just how tired he looks in the new one ☹️. I like that they showed multiple angles of his hair though, they know people wanna see all of that lmao. The fact he’s brushing it away in that one pic makes me think it probably won’t remain like that? either he’ll cut it or find a better hairband because for all we know he’s using a blade of grass or something for his ponytail… or maybe he doesn’t know how to tie it (let conia tie it for him…)

His face looks even more like Gibeon’s which makes sense given he’s going through the same depressive isolation as he did… makes me wonder if his face will look different in the new fit? idk if it’s just maturity that his eyebrows are more sunken but it also gives me a depression vibe, so maybe they’ll perk up again when he’s back on his feet. I’m glad his shoes are dirty too because now he’ll have to get new ones… please just buy normal shoes amethio i’m begging you.

The loop tie being gone is really interesting too. I’d been thinking for a while if he’s really depressed it’ll be related to Gibeon, and the loop tie seems to be inherited from him so probably is symbolic of his will? I’d been thinking amethio might have thrown it away as he’s abandoning gibeon’s will, I really like the idea of him giving to ceruledge and it keeping it safe for the day amethio is ready to exist within society again. Alternatively, Spinel could’ve stolen it? I’d find it less intriguing if amethio losing it isn’t because of his own choices, but it’s also fitting for spinel to take the thing that’s symbolic of gibeon’s will away from him.

Kinda wonder if the new fit will be in 105 instead of next ep? I feel like it’d be a lot to cram into one ep, they’d need to get amethio back on his feet and establish his goal, get new clothes, learn about everything going on in one ep and that seems like too much tbh. I’d also like to see him just being happier for a second before he shoots off into off screen land again.. give my boy a nice meal and a warm bath please 🙏

HZ 104 SPOILERS

I find it really interesting that the main characters with fire types as their starters have sort of followed the same path in a sense?

Amethio is first presented to us as being very independent and mature for his age. He does have subordinates to support him, but he’s still the leader of the group who calls all the shots. There’s this sad vibe that he had to grow up really quickly for his age.

The same can be said for Roy post time skip. From what we can gather, he forced himself into this role of maturity by being the leader of his own adventure. The lyrics in his part of the op emphasis that he was completely alone, and even his va commented on his change of voice feeling like a kid being forced to mature.

Both Amethio and Roy were ‘isolated’ in a sense during this time of their lives, they couldn’t rely on their family or friends (well, more like coworkers for amethio). Even though they had people around them wanting to be closer with them (Ult for Roy, Zir and Conia for Amethio) they both felt the need to walk their path alone.

The Amethio and Friede parallel with post timeskip amethio and flashback Friede is slight skepticism considering we don’t have the full picture with amethio yet, but i’m assuming amethio is currently in a very dejected state. Both of them held this drive to pursue their goals (become a pokemon professor, gaining Gibeon’s will/approval) but after achieving said goal they both fell into this state of depression.

I guess it follows that something next episode will bring amethio’s determination back, interesting that Lucca was indirectly responsible for that with Friede, and now Liko is going to be the one to help Amethio…

I also find it noteworthy that Kureha Matsuzawa, the script coordinator for horizons, has tweeted about the upcoming ep and that everyone should definitely watch it, which I believe he did the same thing before the Friede and Cap backstory ep came out? It does reinforce my belief that amethios going to have his own ep18 moment here… I really like the idea that he first met ceruledge on that island, so it makes sense that seeing a charcadet now would especially remind him of how hard he’s worked.

As for what he’ll do after he’s back on his feet, I assume he’ll track down Zygarde? Honestly I thought they were intending for zir and conia to find it and then it’d bring them to amethio, but perhaps instead he’ll go after it much like how roy was tracking down rayquaza during the time skip. Legends ZA will come out around the same time the next arc would probably be beginning, so maybe they’re setting up for zygarde to play a big role? I’ve been betting the 6th arc would be named after zygarde considering arc 2 was named after terapagos and arc 4 rayquaza, so it would complete our hz legendary trio.

I’m very excited for next week’s episode… poor amethio looks so depressed he couldn’t even be bothered to change out of his tattered clothes. The fact that they’re hiding his new design from us clothes wise gives me hope he might have a pretty big outfit change? I’ve really wanted him to wear something less fancy and more adventure esq to fit his current state in the show, he’s an exiled prince trying to win back his throne so i’d like it if he didn’t look super princely anymore. It’d be kinda cool if he wore something the same color as his coat outfit. Also it’s funny his shirt still fits considering how much broader his shoulders seem to be now lol

I love his hair, i’ve seen people bring up the idea of him cutting it in his proper new design which could look good but I like how it is now tbh. Also PLEASE ditch the elf shoes… this is the part that matters to me most 🙏

Did anyone else find the new capture really lacklustre?

I don’t mind Liko getting charcadet, it’s one of my favourite paldea mons and this one has a very charming personality already. I’d thought for awhile whoever got the amarouge would probably be important to Amethio somewhat, so Liko is a good pick.

But I just felt really let down by the pacing in this episode. Charcadet didn’t even show up until the halfway point, had one very small interaction with liko, and then just decides to go with her. If they’d cut the penny battle and begun at the picnic scene we could’ve seen liko and charcadet bond some more. It’s not even at the end of the ep, we don’t see how the rest of the rvt react to it, and from the looks of it it’s not even in the next episode? Just some really odd choices to me. I guess I just feel like hz has never botched a big moment like this before, and it’s especially disappointing given this is most likely liko’s final capture.

I wasn’t even sure if she really needed anything else, but I suppose it’s fair given Roy basically has 4 pokemon atm (Yes cap counts, he gets to command him and has him in his eyecatch) plus even after cap goes back to friede, roy will most likely have rayquaza. Pagogo is only really used to hoover up rakruium atm and hattrem is a support healer mostly, so it does make sense for them to give Liko a second battler. Does make me wonder if we could potentially be getting megas for amarouge/ceruledge? I don’t think everyone needs megas, but if they’re giving liko a new pokemon it might as well as be one that can mega evolve.

I’m going to assume that her charcadet might play a big role in helping amethio? Personally I think he’s been very depressed over the timeskip and is isolating himself on that beach. I’d wondered for awhile if liko’s lyrics in get back would also be pretty relevant for him given the two of them tend to go through similar struggles, so perhaps the ‘just like you i need to evolve’ will be triggered for him by seeing charcadet and remembering how far he and ceruledge have come together? I’m 100% certain Liko is going to play a key role in getting him back on his feet anyway, the fact that they’re meeting Zir and Conia next ep makes me even more certain as it’s most likely setup for her to learn about his disappearance.

I also wonder what kind of dynamic charcadet and cerueldge will have. To me, meowscarada is more ceruledges rival as she’s had a steady arc of catching up to it in terms of strength, so an amarouge had always felt kinda redundant to me when everyone was saying Liko should get one. I really hope instead they have more of a dynamic like crocalor and charizard. I think it’d be really cute if charcadet admired ceruledge instead of feeling a rivalry towards it… ceruledge is also kinda lacking when it comes to dynamics with other pokemon, so it’d be really nice to see it develop a bond with charcadet. Especially if it acts like an older sibling around it aldovivigifiis

All in all, whilst i’d never really subscribed to liko getting charcadet/amarouge and am disappointed in the capture, it’s already grown on me a lot. look at the little guy with his sticks
