My brain has been absolutely consumed by paulkins and I stumbled upon this fanfic by @daylightisviolent that was a WINGFIC and oh god I LOVE WINGFICS anyways here’s a lil drawing

Thinking about how maybe there's a universe where Lex passes her equivalency test and she and Ethan and Hannah actually all make it out and they go to California together. And Lex actually gets a good job, and so does Ethan, and Hannah still gets visions sometimes but they aren't as bad because she isn't in Hatchetfield anymore and she actually has the help she needs. And she gets her own place but she's never too far away from her sister. And Lex and Ethan get married at the courthouse and save up enough money to buy a good house near Hannah's apartment. And maybe Lex and Ethan have kids and maybe they don't, but they're safe and they're happy. And they have Sunday dinners with Hannah, and Hannah gets a dog. And the two of them grow old together and they sit on their porch together (and sometimes judge the stupid teenagers in their neighborhood). And then I remember that the two of them are probably always doomed to be apart.

Hatchetfield High Yearbook Project Signups

Welcome to the signups for the Hatchetfield High Yearbook Project

Rules:

Individual Character artists will pick the name (or only last name) for their character if their character doesn’t have one, and writers will go along with it for their articles/interviews. (unless an actor or the Langs reveal the canon names of a previously unnamed character during the process of this project)

All art and writing must be original, not AI-generated or made by anyone else (commission, picrew, etc.) 

All art and writing must be digital, it just looks more uniform. (If you need help digitalizing a traditional sketch, I can help with that!) 

Each artist will draw the characters in their piece as they normally draw them, I will clarify which characters are which along with crediting each artist in captions below the photo) 

No infighting, be respectful and agree to disagree in the discord server if an argument arises over fandom stuff. It’s not that big of a deal </3 (Note - If enough trouble is caused, you may be removed from the project and your piece may be replaced)

For now, the due date for all art and writing is March 20th. (Note: This is subject to change. If you are unable to submit your piece at the deadline, contact me, or one of the moderators if I am unreachable, as soon as possible)

A little bit about the Project:

It will be free, both to participate in and consume!

We'll have a discord server for project organization, with other general and fandom related channels for fun in the meantime.

When it is finished, I will roll it out as both a flipbook AND a slideshow, as the slide show will be of a higher/clearer quality than the flipbook program I use.

it will be modeled similarly to the Ride the Cyclone yearbook project, but without all the little info per character, as Hatchetfield High is a much bigger school than St. Cassian. There will still, however, be senior quotes!

For signature pages, everyone who participates will sign a transparent image with their name and/or a little quote/doodle, just like you would sign an actual yearbook in high school. Individual character artists will also sign a separate transparent image as their character, unless their character is an alumni, and I will arrange them on their own pages just like the signature pages of the Ride the Cyclone yearbook project linked above.

You may apply to be both an artist and a writer, but please tell me which you would prefer to be in the forms.

Something about in the npmd proshot hearing the actual audience cheering for Ruth while she hits those GOT DAMN HIGH NOTES OH MY GAWD <3 in Just For Once . Fucking makes me wanna sob. In universe there's obviously one to hear it but max but we know she deserves it. We know that performance warrants that praise and that reaction but Ruth doesn't. Does this make any sense. It fucking breaks me every time.

Watching all those Hatchetfield ask/rp character accounts hold their own apocalypse event for the tgwdlm anniversary was so cool.

Like, huge kudos to those guys for that effort, and event like that, done the way it was? Amazing, and seeing the fall out as well is great.

i love how in npmd starkid presented us with these characters like “these characters are losers. they’re nerds and they’re weird and horny and deeply uncool. you’ll notice that you watch them and think ‘they’re really weird’ and that’s because they are weird. these are the weirdest motherfuckers to ever exist. they’re such losers that the losers bully them”

and we all. fell in love.

and i mean it makes sense!! they all own it. they know they’re uncool. and they wouldn’t have it any other way. because it’s who they are!!!

and i just think that’s beautiful. they’re weird and they’re nerdy and they’re horny but that’s them. and we all love them so much for it

younger me was a lot like ruth (except not horny bc i’m a sex-repulsed ace). i was young and sad and lonely and weird and touch-starved and fell platonically in love with anyone who was nice to me. and i was a theatre kid. and i cried. a lot. and i was still struggling to find myself, but i was so scared to be different. i was so scared to be myself. and seeing ruth own her weirdness in a way i wish i would have learned to earlier, was healing.

ruth, richie, pete, steph, and grace all have such unique stories and backgrounds but they’re all still so real. this is growing up. and it’s portrayed in such a real, living and breathing way. even though the events of the show quickly spiral into unhinged territory

but idk i think the langs have such a unique way of writing characters. they’re people, and they’re people in such a unique way. i can’t exactly put my finger on what it is but the way they characterize their characters is so enthralling

idk if this makes sense i just really love the nerds and i think they resonate with a lot of people for similar reasons.

I might not be able to post any of the one shot requests until after new years, but I’m thinking of working on a reader insert multichap npmd/hatchetfield fic.

You laugh while quickly trying to duck as popcorn gets thrown across the couch, a few pieces inevitably ending up sticking to your shirt.

A smile is easily rested upon your lips as you hear Richie give a snort of laughter, and an overdramatic gasp comes from Max as marshmallows are thrown back in retaliation.

Richie doesn’t have much time to think, purely trying to keep himself from falling at the fault of his own feet as he tries his best to escape the voice echoing against lockers, taunting him.

But the one thing that flashes across Richie’s mind as he finally topples, racing towards the tile of the school hallway, is the hope for his friends, few as they are, staying safe.
