I love to draw buildings because they’re like people in a different shape. I draw old buildings only, because so many lives have been lived inside of them, and you can see that through their faces. Thinking about how many pairs of eyes have looked out of each window, what they saw through the panes, I become so imaginative. By studying the shapes and shadows I learn depth, structure, and think about the hands that hammered in each foundational nail. Most of the time I can only imagine the exterior, but I hope that one day I’ll be able to explore these places in a physical way, beyond abstraction of my mind’s eye.
