Aviarium (Grasshopper Sparrow) by: Terry Adkins
It’s very innovative to make what looks like a sound wave out of equipment that you use to create said sounds.

Assignment #5
1. The source of influence in Carol Barton’s work stems from the title “A bone, a rag, and a hank of hair” referring to a phrase that her grandmother would tell her when she would walk into the house looking like a mess.
2. Barton’s process in to play with her work and allow the material to react to the paint, she would bend, twist, fold, and cut the material in many different ways. She never stated if there was a set plan involved, but she did say how ever that she wanted to experiment when it.
3. Burtons uses the grid to her advantage in making her work, for patterns, arrangement, etc.
4. Photography shows the image as flat and lifeless if it’s a 3-D artwork. The image might not show the full model as the artist would want it shown
5. Holographic viewers. An alternative because photographs have their good sides to when the picture itself is the art.

“Wasteland” by Vik Muniz
1) Muniz feels that the art world is somewhat exclusive and for the rich, he wants to change that so everyone feels included in the art world.
2) Muniz's problem lies within the economic classes as in, the poor stay poor, cleaning up the waste and recycling when they see was reusable and the rich stay oblivious, not looking and acknowledging what is happening.
3) They would be able to tell the amount of wealth the people hed based on how expensive something looked, they joked about the boxes and the shoes that they would find being thrown out.
4) Muniz finds that beauty is in the garbage that had been collected and the people who collected it. The pickers mention that it is not garbage, but recycled material and Muniz brings out the beauty in the pictures hes taken with the trash that they all recycled. The pickers are then moved by the beauty that they can say they made along with Vik.
5) The primary market is referring to the first time sale of a piece either at a gallery or an exhibition. The secondary market is more about the resale of an item bought at either a galley, exhibition, etc.
6) Muniz had a very large change on the pickers lives when the project was over, i would say the biggest one he changed would be Tião dos Santos. Santos is president of the ACAMJG (the Association of Recycling Pickers of Jardim Gramacho) and in the beginning people laughed at his attempt to make a change. But after meeting Vik and being able to view another part of the world, Santos was given the hope and the help from those who viewed both the art and the movie.

Philip Beesley
Beesley’s piece are on a very large scale and he has a lot of them that show light being used inside of them. These pieces of his seem to be done with a lot of care. His work is to show “the rapidly expanding technology and culture of responsive and interactive systems.”

Byriah Loper
Loper’s use of paper is so colorful, not to say all origami isn’t. His art is very nice and open for different styles and patterns, which he does explores in each of his pieces. Whether or not it’s different color, shape, size, etc.

Scott Griger
In the interview on page 153 in the book "In the Making," Griger mentions that he takes care of his works and it really does show in his art. The amount of care and dedication that his works have in it is amazing. At the same time he keeps up with the people who have his work. He talks of seeing a painting he had done 25 years ago brought to an opening of his. "And i was like. "Gee whiz! It looks pretty good!" [Laughs] It was nice to see it again." (Page 153)

Scott Grieger Grieger's works have such a interesting view when it comes to the human body but the interesting part is the items he uses on the people. The woman with the striped bag on her head has the pattern going vertical while her skirt is going horizontal. The man with the tire looks straight to camera and the look he gives is very passive. The last one with all the household looking items is very complex and really shows somethings the things in a house that we might forget.

Charles Ray Each work kind of has a simplistic view to it. With the person on the plank its interesting how they are posed and yet are not falling down. The man in the bottle is a very interesting piece for its simple design, as well as the amount of care shown into making the figure and then getting it in the bottle. The silver machine is simple in the sense that it looks like any other tractor but the fact that it seems to be silver everywhere makes it stand out even more.
