I was back in my original hometown last week for some dj gigs and a fashion show. The very end of June means Paris Fashion Week, Men that is. As I arrived in the capital I rushed to Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire to play a dj set at the launch of Kitsuné’s spanking new Parisian flagship store. The party quickly gathered all the familiar faces and staff including boss Gildas Loaec, as well as some Kitsuné friends and followers such as Ukraine’s HD Fashion channel. In true French fashion, the champagne was flowing freely, the spirits were high and the crowd soon spilt onto rue Amelot. With 800,00€ spent on redecorating the shop and turning the basement into another iconic Kitsuné Café (they lovingly keep on springing up in Tokyo, New York or Paris), this properly stocked-up, chic but funky magasin is set to send Kitsuné’s ubiquitous Japanese visitors into commotion. Indeed as well as selling the current seasons upstairs and fine tea, coffee and cakes downstairs, customers can also graciously get snapped in a mini photo booth and immortalise the moment.

  Later in the evening I catch up with the Kitsuné tribe at the famous and historic Grand Palais sandwiched between les Champs Elysées and La Seine for a big event under the Cinema Paradiso umbrella (watch famous films on massive screens then listen to some djs). More delic’ champ' in the VIP where I too can finally have a chat with the crowd in the house like DJ Falcon and Simon from new French electropop imprint Profil de Face.

  The next day, I catch up with Korean designer Songzio to work on the show’s soundtrack which I’ve started in London. After so many seasons collaborating, I know well what kind of atmosphere Zio’s looking for and we spend our time together listening to the various beats and sounds I’ve added to the ambient track he picked up. Much tweaking and mixing follows, eventually the 10’ mix is ready for the show the next day at noon in a magnificent and wellpreserved convent a stone’s throw from boulevard StGermain.

  A quick bite to eat catching up with Stephane, JBAG's manager/assistant, a second mother to me and Andrea, then I managed to catch properly my good buddy Gildas, a man who fits in his weekly diary not even what most of us manage in a month. He’s arranged to meet in Kitsuné’s first permanent show room in Paris, a stunning first floor 250 m2 flat in Palais Royal, one of those 19th century bourgeois pad kitted with gigantic windows, classic mouldings everywhere and a balcony circling around the whole building. Men & Women collections are displayed elegantly for discerning buyers from all over the world looked after with posh cream cakes, suddenly Daft Punk’s tiny offices behind the Moulin Rouge in the 18th seem a long way away.

  Gildas is still the same though, respectful of all including his staff,cracking jokes... this ambitious - yet human - Breton’s patiently climbed the steps of success and is now enjoying every minute of it, continuously bearing a child’s grin on his face. In the evening I end up my speedy Parisian trek at Le Baron for another visit part of my residency in André’s original Parisian den, the occasion to catch up with good friends and party faithfuls, turning the experience into an all back to mine moment, just like having a party with mates in your living room. What’s best to do on a Saturday night?

JBAG’s latest summery anthem 'Everybody (Come On)’ is about all of the people getting together on the dancefloor and having a fabulous party time.

Offering a colourful explosion of clubbers and characters lifted off various eras, from NY’s funk/hip-hop block parties and Studio 54 to Manchester’s Haçienda and Ibiza's Amnesia, together with JBAG’s Jerry Bouthier & Andrea Gorgerino and of course Shindu’s vocalist Chibi, the video sends a positive message of love and unity.

A talented artist and graphic designer, Caio Zini is also a dj, producer and blogger, who deserves to become famous - and who probably will. It is the second time he collaborates with JBAG, he previously directed the video of the duo’s second single Mogadisco (CONT012).
