when i started magi season two, i didn't expect it to be about israel, but it is, and it is so good at it that it honestly astounds me.

it's also incredibly good at being about bigotry; mogamett is warm and kind, and sacrifices so much to save titus and maintain a safe environment for magicians, but also sees non-magicians ("goi" differs in magi in that it seems to be a slur rather than a neutral descriptor like goyim, as only those in magnostadt use it) as less than human and mere resources to improve the lives of magicians.

even him seeing marga as a cat and the rest of the fifth district residents as bugs works here, racists will often know "one of the good ones", who is still inferior, but can be treated with kindness because they have been acknowledged by someone superior. this is why a lot of people can't accept it when they find out their friends or family are bigoted, because they have been nothing but kind and good to them, and maybe even to certain members of the minority groups they're bigoted against.

anyway, watch magi, it has a very moe art style, but handles topics like racism, imperialism, slavery and war better than most media explicitly about hose topics.
