The way the air changed between the two women made Hazel smile and lean in. “I completely believe it. I’m sure you’re terrifying when you need to be. If I end up needing a wingwoman for murder you’re my first choice.” Hazel loved that she and Laure got along so well. Their personalities meshed in a way that Hazel didn’t find often. “That’s good to hear. I thought it was going to be insane, and then there was barely a fucking shake! I swear the media just wanted to get us all fired up or something.”
Letting out a light-hearted laugh, Laure nodded once and responded, "Good! I would totally have your back if it came to that. Let's hope it doesn't come to that. But the sentiment stands!" She grinned and said in a quieter tone, "But seriously, Hazel. Just let me know if anyone is bothering you." She cleared her throat and waved the serious tone away, plastering on her smile once more. "Right! I wasn't sure if I had felt the quake or if someone was just playing music in the apartment below me. Yeah, the media was definitely just being over dramatic. Maybe it's just an L.A. thing? Nonstop melodrama?"

“Maybe, depends how much he pisses me off,” Adrian winked as he slid on to the barstool next to her. He slapped a bill down on to the bar and shoved it toward the bartender, knowing he’d get his favorite drink in a matter of seconds. ‘Regular’ might’ve been an understatement if someone were to describe Adrian’s status at this particular bar. “Oh, knock it off. You want me to buy you a drink? Fine. Bartender, another…” his eyes fell to the fruity looking drink in front of her, and he raised an eyebrow. “Scratch that. Bring her a rum and coke.”
Laure rolled her eyes once more when he sat beside her. She angled her body just so that she could keep up the conversation but she didn't have to look directly at him. "Well," she paused and said reluctantly, "I'm not going to turn down another drink. Even from you." She shuddered slightly when he ordered the harder drink for her. Hard liquors were definitely not her thing. However, she didn't want Adrian to look down on her even more than he already seemed to. She forced a smirk and nodded, "Perfect."

Hazel’s eyes flicked up to Laure, giving her a soft smile as she worked out of her troubled thoughts. “Hey!” Of all people, she wasn’t surprised that it was Laure to realize something was off with her. The other woman had a way of reading people, and Hazel admired that. “I’m alright. Just an unsettling text. It’s not a big deal, it just threw me off.” She sipped from her cold drink again, letting it wash away her worries. “How are you? Doing alright after that earthquake?”
Laure narrowed her eyes as she listened to her friend explain what was bothering her. She let the moment hang in the air as she took a long, drawn out sip from her coffee. Then, she set her drink down, propped her elbows up on the table, and cleared her throat, "If someone is harassing you, just let me know. I'm not the most threatening person alive, but I'll deal with them, trust me." She stated it matter-of-factly, with a small smirk drawing at the corners of her lips. She leaned back into her seat and grabbed at her drink again, "Oh yeah, I'm totally fine and my apartment is totally fine. I'm relieved that earthquake was as small as it was. They were making it out to seem like armageddon."

Laure had been gently nursing her daiquiri at the bar when she hard a familiar voice call at her. She shut her eyes and let out a sigh once she recognized the voice. She looked over her shoulder and smiled regretfully. “No. I was actually just treating myself to a drink. Are you gonna start boxing the bouncer? Believe it or not, I also have a life outside of my work.” She let out an indignant scoff when he called her 'sweets'. “Don’t call me that. Unless you have plans on buying me a drink. Otherwise, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, piss off.”

“What are you doing here?” Adrian was shocked to the see the woman he’d met in the coffee shop weeks before out somewhere he considered fun, especially without anyone else around her. Daemon’s vibe was the sort he liked, not to mention the drinks were cheaper than anywhere else in town. “Gonna make some vague prediction about the bartender’s love life so he’ll give you a free drink? I gotta tell you, sweets, I think he’d rather you just slip him your number.” @lachesisxlaure

"Of course I'm not bailing! This is so exciting," Laure said breathlessly back to her sister. Anything relating to spirits or the unknown piqued her interest, so she had to tag along. She looked up at the abonded house they were headed towards and felt a mixture of fear, anxiety, and curiosity. It was definitely creepy. Her instincts made her hesitate for just a moment before she followed her sister through the fence. "How did you even find this place. Do you just, like, look up abandoned buildings in your spare time?"
“you are not bailing on me now are you?” ari said shining her flashlight over in their direction. “come on it isn’t that scary. okay yes it’s creepy from the outside but that’s what makes it so much fun.” the redhead smiled. “it’s better than doing the same thing every night over and over again. let’s go, don’t be boring.” she said ducking down to go under the hole in the fence.

Caffeine was Laure's biggest weakness, and it was part of her daily routine to walk to the cafe every morning to get her daily dose. She walked in, looking alert and cheery despite it still being early. She promptly ordered an iced cappucino once she entered. Her gaze flitted around the room, until she spotted a familar face. "Oh, nice seeing you here, Hazel!" She made her way over to her friend and took the nearest seat. Frowning slightly, she asked, "Are you alright? I don't know if I've ever seen you look this... tense before." She did her best to project a genuine tone.
Hazel looked at her phone and scowled at the sight of a text from Kade Wilson. He had left her alone for weeks after that fateful day she stormed out of his home, and she had done her best to forget everything that had happened involving him. She thought she was done with him all together, but there was his name on her phone. Making a noise of distaste, she shoved her phone into her pocket and turned her attention back to nursing her frappe, completely oblivious to anyone around her.

Laure Williams {Lachesis}
Laure Williams, previously Lachesis; 29 year old astrologer and horoscope writer for the LA Times.
Mun
Heyy! I'm Colin (He/him). I'm 18, I'm from midwestern US, and I'm sooo excited to get the ball rolling on season 2! I joined at the very end of season 1, and I fell in love with this group and story, so I am very excited to see what this season will have in store. Little bit more about me, in my spare time I love to dance (ballet and contemporary) and do makeup. I'm finishing out my senior year in high school right now, and then I'm off to college. Naturally, in this busy spot in my life I decided to join a roleplay group. Oh well! I loveee talking to people and I'm always up for chatting or plotting, so hmu!
Lachesis
The fates are the daughters of Nyx and Kronos
Lachesis is the second fate, whose role is to determine the amount of thread allotted to each person
The fates worked somewhat in solitude. Lachesis rarely interacted with other myths, so she is inclined to distrust them. However, she trusts her sisters entirely. She believes the work of her sisters to be of great importance; she has become obsessive over the idea of controlling mortal lives. She loves to have that level of power
She allied with Kronos due to her sympathies for her father and her contempt with how the Olympians treated her and her sisters as lesser goddesses.
While spending more time with mortals, Lachesis has become much more sympathetic and understanding of the concept of free will. She understands the complexities of human life, and is starting to sympathize more and more with the reborn. However, she is not an agent of Gaia, mostly because of her immense fear and respect for her father.
Laure
Laure was raised mainly in Glasgow and in London with her younger sisters.
It wasn’t until her early 20′s that Laure decided she wanted to start studying astrology and writing horoscopes as a career
She’s the typical crazy astrology lady. She has secret storages of herbs and essential oils, she reads star charts for fun, and she spouts about karma at every opportunity.
She is heterosexual, though she isn’t very interested in having relationships with others. She’s so preoccupied with superstitions and other worldly energies she often forgets about romance altogether. She is also a bit of a prude, and won’t likely even notice if someone is trying to flirt with her
Laure is definitely in touch with nature. She has her own small garden and she much prefers the outdoors to the indoors.
Laure has a fascination with human nature. Since leaving Olympus, she has become fascinated with learning about life from the opposite perspective. She loves to talk to others and gain insight on how they perceive and understand human life

I had the best of both worlds when I was a kid. I’d spend a quiet week with my mum, then I’d go to my dad’s property in the Adelaide Hills, where there were all these kids and animals running around.

Adrian couldn’t believe she didn’t even crack a smile at his joke. That, more than anything, spoiled his mood. Like a child who’d been denied the toy he wanted, a pout tugged at Adrian’s lips, his eyes wrinkling. “Respect is earned, and I don’t respect all that gibberish. Especially after the world almost ended. Everyone was all up in arms thinking the meteor was going to hit and that allllll those old civilizations and had just gotten the date wrong - and then bam. Nothing happened. As always.”
It took Laure a few seconds to understand what he was even talking about. The sudden jump onto a different subject entirely confused her. Was he really trying to compare her work with the work of ancienct civilizations that stopped existing centuries ago? "what... who... what are you talking about? All I do is give people life advice. Nothing much beyond personal lives. But I guess you just can't respect those who would rather help others than fight them."

ari-atropos:
true ari had been taking her time getting to her sister’s place. of course that plan had been thwarted when she ran into zander who quickly ushered her along to her sister’s place. before zander’s delivery of ari to laure’s place she had made sure to grab any supplies her sister requested. getting out her keys, she found the one to her sister’s apartment and let herself in. “i’m here!” she called out into the apartment. placing the bags up on the counter, she began unpacking her stuff. “you know you’re starting to look like one of those doomsday preppers with all this stuff you have out laure!”
The glass of wine Laure had poured for herself just minutes ago was nearly empty when the door to her apartment open. She jumped to her feet in relief when she saw her younger sister walking into her apartment. She quickly cleared her throat so as not to appear relaxed. "Ari! Finally. What, did you get lost or something?" She said, a teasing grin playing on her face. She strode over to the other side of the counter and started helping her sister unpack her things. "Hey! You never know when this might be useful! At least one of us has to be the responsible one, and since I'm the oldest, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be me."

Adrian shook his head, still stuck on the idea that they were talking about two completely different things. Just because they were both insulting one another’s jobs didn’t mean the insults were on the same level. “Yes, because you’re giving people general advice based on made up on things!” It was as if she hadn’t explained the entire process to him only moments before. He rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair once again. “Oafs? Come on, give me some more respect than that. I’m at least a caveman.”
Disbelief washed over Laure's face as the boxer still didn't seem to understand her work, or how unreasonable he was sounding. She ran her hand through her hair and let out a deep exhale, her impatience growing. "It's not made up. There is a basis for all of my work. There is a basis for all of astrology that all astrologers must know and follow. Even if you personally don't believe in it, you have to realize there is some effort that goes into what I do." Her face remained neutral, not cracking the slightest of smiles at his secondary comment, "I'm not giving any respect to you if you refuse to return it."

'Fire extinguisher. Check. Canned foods. Check. Flashlights. Check...' Laure ran through her mental checklist twice. She really regretted waiting till the last minute to prepare. Now that the Earthquake was so imminent, her worries were paramount. She kept checking her phone and the time, wondering what had been taking Ari so long to get to her apartment. She took a deep breath, knowing it was no use to freak out. She calmly made her way to her kitchen, poured herself a glass of wine for relaxation purposes, and then sent her sister one last text asking about her whereabouts. She tried to sound as calm as possible, not wanting her younger sister to know how panicked she truly was.

“Hell yeah I do! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be well known for what you’re good at or what you like. I like boxing. I like fighting. At least I’m not out on the street whacking people with clubs.” Now did not seem like the best time to let this woman know of all the fights he got into out in the real world. “There’s no rush like it. It’s way more excited than making stuff up by looking at the stars.”
Laure's eyebrows shot up as he explained his profession. She wondered if he even caught onto how hypocritical he was sounding. Slowly, she respond, "Right... and I like astrology and giving others advice. Is there anything wrong with that?" She let the statement sink in before responding to his otherstatement. "More exciting? Probably. More useful? Not at all. Though, I suppose two hyper-masculine oafs fighting each other is better than random fights breaking out elsewhere."

“I do what I can.” She smirked and made her way into The Retreat, hoping Laure would follow. Even with much of the merchandise and heavy decorations taken off of the walls, the building still had a calming effect on Hazel. It was an environment she had worked hard to create and maintain. “So the essential oils are over here. I got a few new blends in that you might like. Maybe something with lavender or eucalyptus?”
Laure, of course, did follow, very happily. She followed Hazel into the familiar building, feeling the soothing and calm aura effect as well. She made her way towards the essential oils, carefully looking over and examining them as if she was picking out a wedding dress. "Well, lavendar is my favorite, so that's always welcomed. I was definitely looking for something floral. Maybe even rose or jasmine. What do you reccomend?"
