Rhaenyra Targaryen

Born in 97 AC, Rhaenyra was the only living child of King Viserys I Targaryen by his first wife, Lady Aemma of House Arryn. She became a dragonrider at the age of seven, and at eight King Viserys proclaimed Rhaenyra his heir, having all the lords of the Seven Kingdoms swear fealty to her. it's past 6 in the morning here, and i can't get any sleep, so i guess i'm doing this:

to the person that sent that confession that said that they believe that arya would choose to save jon over gendry if she was given the choice, you're absolutely correct.

but my issue is that you're practically doing something known as "comparando peras con manzanas" in my own language. (coming back to this point for shit and giggles, i've actually searched if people in english had a similar saying, and i learned that you guys compare apples and oranges; i mean at least that's how the saying goes for you, it seems... also shout out to the french language and the italian language for having the same expression. yay, romance languages! but i'm disappointed in the portuguese language with your oranges and bananas)

jon is arya's most important person in the world, and this is coming from the girl that had doubts of her own mother loving her and wanting her back, but never doubted jon, because he'll always love her.

and gendry was arya's friend once; that's it... okay, that's not completely it, because they saved each other; they survived side by side. i know i know, but in the end they had a falling out that ended up with a broken friendship.

we as readers know that, currently and for the last 19 years since affc was published, gendry has been carrying guilt over his shoulders about arya's disappearance, and his complete mood change overall has to do with her. arya once considered gendry to be her only true friend, and i think that for gendry, who is introverted, asocial, and doesn't like people in general, it was the very same for him.

we as readers know about this because it was shown to us: gendry is helping in taking care of countless orphaned children, and it's because that is something that arya did back in the time they were together. he's honoring her memory and becoming a better person in the process.

arya doesn't know this at all and still thinks that gendry chose the brotherhood over her simply because he didn't want to be around her anymore. and of course that this belief that arya has becomes the absolute truth for her when you add arya's own low self-esteem problems and her abandonment issues to the mix.

and sure, we can say that with all the things that gendry has been doing since they were separated, it is something like gaining brownie points for when they reunite again.

but it isn't comparable when jon, you know, arya's very own soulmate (at least that's what i believe) did die trying to get to her, and only her. he didn't do it for his memories of the stark family; he did it only because of his love for arya.

and we can ship what we want honestly, but there's not a comparison really.
