Vasilisa Azarenka, guy in the chair, connoisseur and curator of all things pink, number one Neopets caretaker and omelette market dominator of all time
"I'm in. Yeah, no, I know, it's from a movie—never mind. You ready?"
Vasilisa is my merc in @lifesupreme-if's IF A Life Supreme, which you should go check out the demo for posthaste! I also have a standalone game about her called #ff63b3. In honor of Vasilisa's birthday today, I will be replaying the demo so she can have a little cry in the freezer, as is her right.
gradient alts + details under the cut because I really liked painting her hair and earrings in (plus a bit more of her unpainted nails bc I think they came out nice)

Tumblr said I could have one (1) video so woe, gif grains upon ye!
An electuary is a type of medicine (typically herbal) that is ground into powder and mixed with honey or another sweetener in order to make it easier to take. It is a way of making something unpleasant more bearable.
Some might say a key feature of an electuary is that its palatability does not hinder its function. It is, after all, a medicine. Medicines are intended to treat or cure illness. I, however, propose that the function of an electuary is no longer curative. That is, the purpose of an electuary is not to restore its consumer to a previous state of being, but to make its current state more pleasant. Its primary purpose is comfort.

The 2025 Colossal Fundraiser has begun!
Hello, friends.
We are just a couple of weeks away from this year’s IFComp games being released. Are you looking forward to them as much as we are?? IT'S SO EXCITING!!  (Unless you’re an author who is furiously testing and revising and recompiling and testing and revising and recompiling and… Good luck, authors! You can do it!)
While we eagerly await the new games to come, we’d like to ask for your help with the Colossal Fund. If you already know about the fund and are able to contribute, please go to ifcomp.org and hit that blue “Donate with PayPal” button!
If you’d like more information first, keep on reading…
The Colossal Fund raises money for the cash prizes that are awarded to the top two-thirds of IFComp entries. We use 80% of the funds for that, and the remaining funds are used to provide support for the programs and projects of the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation, including the Interactive Fiction Competition, the IF Archive, the IFDB, the forums at intfiction.org, and other projects.
This year, we are shooting for $8K.
We’re now accepting donations for 2025! The donation button is live at IFComp.org. See your name listed on our donor page (or listed as “anonymous” if you prefer)! Our fundraising deadline is October 15th - the last day of competition voting. 80% of the proceeds (~$6.4K if we hit our goal) will be distributed among the top two-thirds of IFComp finishers.
What does this mean for authors? Because we’re dividing the money among the top two-thirds of games, the exact numbers depend on how many entries there are. If we have 75 entries, then we will divide the money among the top 50. If we hit our goal, that would mean that the winner of the competition will be offered a prize of $357, second place will be offered $343, third prize $329… and so on and so forth until 50th place, which will be offered $10.  Our goal is to distribute prizes across a broad range of IF styles and ideas. Any game which does even moderately well is offered a decent prize. (If you wanna get nerdy, there's information about the formula with a link to a Python script here.)
How do I donate? Please go to https://ifcomp.org and push the big blue Donate button.
Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes, to the extent allowed by law. (Consult a tax professional.)
Does the Colossal Fund replace the usual IFComp prize list? Nope! These cash prizes will be in addition to the usual IFComp prize list. We do need more of those non-cash prizes as well! Please visit our prize page to see what objects and services others have donated, get ideas from donations given in previous years, and see how you can contribute.
How will the cash prizes be distributed? Via PayPal or Venmo. (The IFComp entry form has a field for your Paypal address.) If you can’t accept PayPal or Venmo, we can mail a US check to a US address. If that doesn’t work for you, or if you wish to decline the cash prize, we will roll the money into next year’s prize fund, which means it will continue to support authors and IFTF programs.

Ship date changed! I'm keeping the single choice mechanic but because the Summer of Translations goes through the 30th, now there's a more metagame-y type of thing going on. The little details disguise all sorts of devils :)
one day I'll stop getting ideas/making scope cull calls within the last (checks palm) three days of jam/comp events. that day isn't today, but maybe one day.
anyway in totally definitely unrelated news, spiritual companion game to wild oats is dropping sometime around the 16th. if you like women with complex relationships to motherhood, excruciating mother-daughter relationships, and/or acid trip dreams, you'll probably enjoy it! am i going to explain any of the lore that's going into it, and therefore make it more understandable and less immediately vibes-based?

writing (actual) translator's notes from the (fake) POV of the character who allegedly did the translation is *so* fun. Not only do you get to play with representing a character's actual knowledge level, but sometimes...someone who is very fluent in a language is just terrible at teaching it, and it SHOWS
Yeah she WOULD explain it like that! She would explain the incredibly emotional syntax decision she made by deflecting into a tangent about how her native language has been butchered by the dominance of English loanwords! She would, because she does NOT want to talk about why she translated "[redacted]" as the newly-coined "[maker of bittersweetness]"
Yeah, the woman who more or less grew up in a cathedral and then specifically studied Latin in an ecclesiastical sense is translating it in the most confession-booth-adjacent way imaginable! She doesn't know the grammatical terms for anything, so no, her notes do not address the Very Significant Case Change by those terms! Instead you get basically her making up new words to explain!

A sample of the animation for my ongoing project, a 2D/3D animated romantic thriller. A quick shot like this takes about six hours of work.
If you're interested in following this project you can follow me here or over on my itch.io, where I'll be sharing frequent updates and announcements.

Update with Itch.io - UK Edition
As we all know, UK OSA recently came to play for UK residents. Which means itch.io had to comply to the new rules (read more about here).
Essentially, until itch finds an acceptable way of complying with the "Check people's ID" rules from the new regulations, they are geo-blocking any NSFW page. This includes (afaik):
Project pages
Profile pages displaying geo-blocked projects!!!*
*right now I don't know if it's just listing games widget-style, collections are affected, or if having basic links towards NSFW projects in your profile description counts too.
If you are a UK resident landing on a creator page with NSFW content, you probably will end up with a screenshot like this:
Tumblr media
If you are a creator looking to see if your project(s) is affected by this, you can find whether a project is geo-blocked by:
Going to the Distribute tab of your project
Click Geo restrictions
Tumblr media
You can also appeal the decision by contacting itch.io support.
This was also shared by itch in their update post:
Connect with local advocacy groups working on digital rights issues
Review and consider signing this petition opposing the OSA’s implementation: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/722903
Contact your local representatives to express your concerns
