Analysis
For this project I found myself losing motivation quite frequently and even found myself not executing the work as well as I know I possible could have and that I am capable of. I feel that for the time I had to do the project know that I have not lived up to my full potential and that the quality of the work is not up to my usual standard. Although I have enjoyed a few different parts of the project, I also found myself lost in some parts, making my work not of a higher quality. The things I could have improved on were towards the end of my project and agree that I should have put some more thought into my final piece along with the research and content for the pitch towards Topshop. I have learnt so much from this project and have realised that it is very unprofessional to leave everything to the very last minute and that I could produce better work if I structured my time better.

final design and pitch
After I had established how I was going to execute the final 360 video for my pitch for Topshop, I started to explore how I was going to include the trend of nature-verse into my final piece. I wanted to explore florals a bit more and also include a slight touch of the digital daydream side of the trend. I wanted to include the majority of the colours from the colour palette to ensure they shine through on the final video. I wanted to create something similar to Rebecca Louise Law and have a form of florals installed however I didn’t want them hanging, I wanted them on the ground so that people could feel as if they are stood in a field of flowers when they put on the VR headset and watch the video. I started to test out creating stems and flowers in unity however as I started I soon realised that for what I wanted and had envisioned the process of making a field of flowers would take far too long. I explored the idea of having a template for the base and then adding the brands images and garments onto the shapes that will sit in the field of flowers. I managed to find a template on the unity website that was exactly what I had in ind so I downloaded the software template and started exploring how I could make it my own. The colours that appeared in the flowers were very bright however I did notice a few flowers that alined with the colours in the colour palette. I wanted to include the images that I had discovered on the Topshop instagram as I thought this was the best way to advertise the brand whilst using the consumers images as promo rather than the images on ASOS as I feel that these images are quit plain due to the fact they are simply to show the garment and I want my video scene to be artistic. I started by inserting a few three dimensional cubes as bases for the images and then exported the images as materials onto the cubes. I played around with the dimensions of the cubes so that they didn’t all appear the same but also had to make sure they didn’t appear distorted in any way. To ensure I incorporated the digital day dream aspect, I added a few planet like spheres that would hover above the flowers and ensured the material was shiny to make them appear in a more futuristic way alongside the colour digital lavender. I added a verity of images to the final video which included a range of accessories and clothing modelled for the brand to ensure they get a feel for what is capable with their content. Once I was happy with the placement of the scene content and colours, I started to record the scene using the window recorder in 360 view for approximately 2 minutes. I feel like the video didn’t need to be too long as its not interactive enough and 2 minutes looking around to catch the images and feel of the video was long enough. After I had recorded the video and seen it in the 5k video player, I realised that the images are really hard to see and aunt as crisp as I would have hoped, however I do admire some part of it and that technology is never perfect and the pixelated images are part of the digital daydream in a sense as they are representing the unclear visuals of a dream. Once I had exported the video into a 360 version on insta 360 studio ready for YouTube, I uploaded the video and tested it out on my recently purchased VR headset (selected and punched via amazon, ensuring that majority of mobile phones could fit in the slot). The video worked and I was very pleased with the outcome. As a way of targeting the audience, I feel that the QR code method will be best for reaching Topshop’s target market and audience. After creating a QR code with the Youtube link online, I was able to visualise where the QR code was going to be advertised for the brand. I have created a few ideas of how the brand could advertise the QR code for all to ee and access including social media, billboards and other various adverts. (see images on next post)

Creating A 360 VR Experience
My aim to create a 360 VR experience is going to take a few trial and errors, so I decided to create a test video to see I the process would work and so that I could see what I needed to work on in order to create the outcome I needed. I started by researching videos explaining how to record the video in 360 on the unity scene and found one that explained it perfectly. I needed to download the unity recored window in the application in order for me to start adjusting the presets for the video. Once downloaded and opened via window, general, recorder and recorder window, I then set the video setting to 360 view and started recording the camera view. Once I stopped recording I then had to open the video in a 5k player software as that was the only way I could see the 360 video and test if the recorder had worked. After seeing the success of the 360 video and seeing how it looked around when moving the screen, I wanted to upload it to YouTube however the video wouldn’t upload without rendering and saving it in 360 version in an application called insta 360 studio 2022. Once I had opened the video in insta 360 studio, I then exported the video to my files in the 360 format ready for me to upload to YouTube. I tested the video by uploading it as a test run to YouTube and the video worked in 360 and when the phone moved, the video image moved alongside. Now that I knew how to process the VR 360 video experience I started exploring how I was going to display a range of Topshop’s products and images for the clients consumers.

QR codes
QR codes are becoming even more frequently used forms of creating a link for something as they are so simple to use and can be easily formed. Throughout my day to day life I have more recently been noticing businesses using QR codes to their full advantage, some examples include an ohpolly advert I saw in the lift at my student accommodation (see image attached). As QR codes just required a mobile phone camera to access the link, I feel that its best to use this method for access of the YouTube 360 video due to its wide access for most people with a mobile phone.

developments in unity and photoshop
After developing my basic skills in unity and educating myself via YouTube videos and articles on how to use various tools, I have finally made some developments within the software. I started to experiment with inserting images and moodpboard work I have created into the materials folder and then dragging the images onto the cubes that have been placed onto the scene (see screenshots attached). I rotated the cubes and changed the dimensions of them to appear closer and fit in the main camera angle. I decided that I didn’t want to use blender in my developments any further as my knowledge for the software was just too little in order to create something good enough for my standards within my final outcomes. I have also been making developments in photoshop with creating mood boards by using the brands instagram photos (in which they use to promote products and are a more art like/ editorial images compared to catalogue) and creating various ways and layouts. Following on from the floral theme I have explored ways of interpreting this into Topshops images and wanted to use their use of similar colours to the colour palette that ensure a relevance between the brand and the trend. i have created a colour palette mood board too, using selected images from instagram alongside the colours digital lavender, bay leaf, pineapple and crimson that regularly appear in the brands products and social media posts.

Topshop Target Market
As talked about earlier, toyshops target market has changed and developed throughout its existence. Over the last decade having been a fan of the brand myself I would say that the brands target market is females ages 15-25 and who are enthusiastic about fashion yet are shopping on a high street budget. However as the brand has developed in the last few years and become an online business, the target market has grown slightly bigger and I would say now it ranges from 18-30 as the generation that has known and loved Topshop for the last decade are growing up and developing their styles alongside the brand. I personally feel that toyshops target market are the exact audience to appeal for a Metaverse marketing strategy. The ideas that I have and to use an application like YouTube will align nicely with the target market as the majority of these people in this age range are familiar with YouTube.

sustainability in technology
It is a known factor that technology is developing at a fast rate today and some of the technological advances that are coming up in the fashion industry are nothing short of incredible. Which is why its advances are not surprisingly helping aid the sustainability problem in the fashion industry. In an article written for Heuritech in January 27, 2022, the article explains how “technology creates a permanent and accessible public leger of the different stages of a brand’s supply chain”. One of the key things I took away from the article was how technology is helping reduce the emissions made during the process for synthetic fabrics and are using biotechnology to make a more sustainable approach.
“A promising solution for more sustainable textiles is the use of biotechnology. This typically involves is the application of science and technology to natural fibres to create different varieties of textiles with useful properties. Textiles can be made from bio-waste and are combined with existing fibres using chemical processes”.
Its obvious that this is not the only way that technology is making the fashion industry change its easy to become more sustainable. With more anymore brands moving to online marketing and websites to promote and sell product, its ensuring the lengthy un ethical process of fast fashion, fashion shows and printing catalogues to become more sustainable and create less waste during the processes.

Importance Of Colour Palette
Colour palettes are everywhere in our day to day lives and help to represent a range of emotions, feelings, environments and even temperatures. Warm colours such as reds, yellows and oranges can represent emotions such as happiness, pleasure and cold colours such as blue, black and dark greens can represent angry, sadness and envy. Colour palettes are used everywhere within the fashion industry and are used many times in order to for brands to be more recognisable due to the association with the colour and brand. A great example of this would be popular UK supermarket Sainsburys with their signature orange that is recognised widely across the country. The colour palette within Nature-verse is clearly a great representation of the ideas and things they want to communicate through this trend. The colour pallet consists of “swampy darks and mid-tones that sit alongside intense galactic cobalt and crimson, and artificial shades like digital lavender blend with warm neutrals such as parchment and pink clay”. I really admire how colours like digital purple and bay leaf have such a nice contrast of meaning but yet still compliment each other really well.

Current Ideas For Topshop Marketing Pitch - Introducing The Brand To Future Technology
I have though a lot about how I want to approach my vision of introducing Topshop into the Metaverse world and updating their marketing with technology. The first thing that came to my mind was to create a virtual reality (similar to what Nike and Tommy Hilfiger did) where people can explore the brands current and newest collections is a three dimensional way however creating a whole virtual reality world would require years of tech experience let alone a whole lot longer than 8 weeks of work. So I decided to be more realistic with myself in what I could achieve in 8 weeks that would still communicate the metaverse in my own interpretation and thought about possibly looking into how I could use unity to make a 360 promotional video for the brand to show to their consumers and potential new clients. As the metaverse is still being built and people are still confused as to what it actually is, I figured that maybe I should dumb down the process for myself and use a 360 video that would be uploaded to YouTube (a platform used by millions) where people can use a VR headset that you slot your phone into once you’ve got the video and watch in VR mode on YouTube. I knew that I would have to put a few weeks of educating myself in unity and other various softwares I may need to complete this, however I was more than prepared to learn and execute this and develop my skills. I also figured that considering topshop are now a online brand and they have got rid of all their stores it would make sense to do the same for launching collections rather than just using social media and the ASOS brand to promote, it also plays a part in the sustainability factor as having an online three dimensional view of the products, people can get a more realistic view online rather than having to print look books or catalogues or even adverts.

Rebecca Louise Law
After looking into the twilight garden trend, I started to really admire the way that the floral concept flows alongside the technological, so I wanted to explore florals further as I feel that’s a great route to go down with how I want to represent the organic side of the trend in my work. I was researching a few artists who work with flowers and came across Rebecca Louise Law, who’s work consists on hanging arranged floral collections from the ceiling of her exhibitions. Her website explains how Rebecca is known for “creating immersive installations with natural materials. Preserved flowers have become the signature of her most recognised works. Individually sewn and suspended, viewers are often invited to navigate through them, discovering the diverse forms, colours and textures of each specimen”. Rebeccas concept of how “sustainability and life cycles often present themselves” within her work and I immediately made the connection to nature verse and twilight garden. Rebeccas installations can be found worldwide, however my favourite one has to be the IRIS which is located in the NOW Gallery in London. The installation displays a mix of purple and yellow flowers that hand from long green stems, each at different heights, one of my favourite parts about the artwork is not only the colour palette and beauty of the flowers but also the way a flood of light comes in from the tall windows and exposes the flowers full colours and creates some beautiful dull shadows on the floor below. Nothing thing I admire about the exhibition is how Rebeccas intention shines through during the time its exhibited, in the description of the art on her website she explains “During the course of the exhibition, the flowers dry within the gallery space, allowing the viewer to observe the process and the artist’s exploration of ephemerality”. I noticed that the colours she has used in this specific piece also align with some of the colours from the colour palette in nature verse, pineapple yellow, bay leaf green and digital lavender purple.

Twilight Garden - WGSN
Twilight garden is a trend that visually explores the more organic and natural side of the Natureverse trend forecast from WGSN. The inspiration for the trend is “when day and night collide, be it dusk or dawn. It clearly explores the idea of styles that can be versatile in the way they can be worn at any point on the day and still be appropriate for the occasion. It circulates around “florals and tropicals” and talks about repurposing from old seasons “in fresh ways”. The prints and graphics of this trend consist of “eerie gardens and cloudy forests” and this is clear to see in the photo library for this particular trend. One of the main things that really drew my attention to this trend was that unlike the digital daydream that focuses more towards the technological side of Natureverse, twilight garden focuses primarily on the organic and nature side of the trend and explores this in such a beautiful way.in fact one of the main things that drew mt attention to the trends was an image used for the title and into section of the nature verse trend, an editorial style photo of a woman surrounded by a large floral display above her (see attached for image reference). I can clearly see the inspiration for the trend and its very on theme for the plans that I have for my marketing displays for topshop and is the exact route I want to explore over the next few weeks.

Into To Blender
Blender is a software frequently used in collaboration with unity, especially when it comes to defining objects that you want in your game/ canvas. Blender allows you to create and carve and mould objects exactly how you want them to appear before you save and export them into unity. I started by opening up the blender software once it had been downloaded to by computer and starting a new three dimensional project. The first thing to appear will be a three dimensional sphere shape that you can rotate by right clicking the object and moving to your desired position (this is very useful to see what sides of the object are plane and what you need to work on). I used the sculpt mode to allow me to select the blob, inflate and clay modes to add texture to the sphere, once you have selected your tool, click and drag the tool across the area of the sphere that you wish to manipulate, you can also play around with the radius and strength of the click strokes by changed them just below the sculpting bar. There are many other tools that you can play around with however I am yet to discover those as I am new to the software and I am just learning. Once you have the desired texture you wish to take forward into your game/ canvas in unity, your going to want to save your blender object by selecting file, save as and putting it into a folder that you recognise for later. Then after opening up your unity project, go to file export and select your file, once your file is selected drag it into the assets folder you have previously created in unity and drag and drop into that. Now the object is in the unity software, drag the shape into your hierarchy and the shape will appear in your scene for you to then play with dimensions and position to perfect your scenes. you can also create boxes with the editing mode and this will also allow you to play around with dimensions before you insert your shape into unity.

Intro To Unity
After researching into many different softwares that would aid me in creating a three dimensional virtual visual for my narrative, I found a software called unity. From my current understanding, unity is a widely used software (used frequently by design students) that allows you to create both two and three dimensional visuals. The software is also frequently used by game designers to create a model of virtual games as the softwares tools allow users to assign transitions and movement within the objects created. Resources such as YouTube helped my to understand the very basics of unity and so I started watching videos that explain how to create a new project, create new objects (the scale, lighting and even adding materials to that object) adding shadows, creating metal like materials and positioning of the lighting in comparison to the objects. I started by opening the software application once I had downloaded it to my desktop, selecting the ‘new project’ section at the top. The page then gives you an option of what type of project you want to open (VR, 3D, 2D etc) so I selected the 3D project and names my new project ‘Project1’ just to keep it simple as this was just an experimental project in order to learn the basics. Once you have selected your project definitions, select create and the screen will take you to your new project with a basic starting point for your project which includes your hierarchy (main camera and directional light) projects assets, scene and game view etc. The tutorial video from YouTube in which I watched to learn the basics of Unity started by explaining the main screens tools and layout, which was vital to revise and get familiar with before I started going into the next section. After familiarising myself with the main screen, the video explained how to insert a new object into the main scene, by right clicking on the space in the hierarchy section, selecting create, 3D object and then selecting cube (or Sphere, capsule, cylinder etc). The object will then be inserted into the main scene and also appear of the hierarchy list under neither directional light, you can add as many objects with this method onto the hierarchy as you wish to create your own virtual visuals. When you select the object that you have inserted three arrows will appear on the object with is the transform of the object and each arrow when held down, allows you to move the object in certain x and y axis directions. When you select the object, on the right hand side of the screen, under neither the inspector section, the transform section will allow you to change the position, rotation and scale of the object. The next aspect of the unity basics that I took on what how the create materials and change the material of the objects. In oder to create a new material for your objects, they suggest to create a new folder under the assets folder under neither the project section on the bottom right corner of the page (right clicking on the assets folder and selecting create new folder) once you have created a new folder, named the folder ‘materials’. In oder to create a new material, in the clear space of your new folder, right click the space and select create, then select material. A new basic material will appear which is then ready for you to customise the material how you desire. On the right hand side of the screen underneath the inspector section, all of the tools below are what you need to adjust to ensure the material is adjusted ready for use on your object. I started by selecting a new colour for my new material, then adjusting both the smoothness to create a shine on my object and played around with the adjustments of the metallic adjustments. Once I had adjusted these to my liking, I dragged the material ball from the material folder straight onto the object, the material then appears on the object and gives the object more dimension. To add the shadows underneath my objects I selected the object and under the inspection section, selected ‘cast shadows’ and ensured receive shadows was also selected. The added shadows add more dimension to the three dimensional objects and ensure they appear visually where I wanted them to sit in relation to the plane below. (see images attached in next post as it wouldn't allow me to post them under this lengthy paragraph)

Intro To Photoshop
Photoshop is widely used in the fashion industry, from editing after photoshoots to creating mood boards for inspiration. The software is something that I have been using for a few years now and have (and still am) been educated on all the relevant skills I need to create an amazing piece of art or touching up on my photographs. To get an idea and feel for the trends that I was looking at, I started with creating a few mood boards for my digital sketchbook. I started with opening a new document and setting the pre sets to width 16, hight 12, landscape orientation, 300 resolution and ensuring its a CYMK colour mode to get the clearest colour possible. Once I had a blank canvas to work with I started to drag my images from my photo Library and they automatically become a layer of itself, by right clicking the layer I was about to select rasterise layer to make the image of a better quality and easier to work with. After this the image was ready to be manipulated in any way I wished however I wanted to start the first image by cutting around the edges with the lasso tool and zooming in to a pixelated level to ensure I can have better precision with cutting away the edges. I cut away in sections to ensure I don’t have any errors in one go and have to start from scratch, then after the outline is cut away, trim the remaining excess of the image that was unnecessary. I also used tools such as the rectangular marquee tool to cut away large sections rather than spending time cutting away small sections with the lasso tool. After cutting images and inserting a background, I was able to play around with scale and perception by selecting the move tool to make the layers as big or little as I desired. Once I was happy with the images I saved them both as a regular photoshop file and also exported them as a png, in order to export as a png you must go to file, export, quick export to png (Macbook software).

Digital Daydream - WGSN
Digital daydreams concept consists of a ‘dreamlike’ three dimensional artwork that is “influencing real life aesthetics”. It visually communicates a softer side of the digital world and is there to ideally create “a more calming, soothing side of tech”. The colour palettes core is made up of pastel shades and soft iridescent finishes to ensure the calming visuals come through stronger, the styling of the trend ensures both ‘party’ and ‘work-leisure’ come together in harmony to create this dream virtual vision. Its relevance and targets for fashion consist of “digital fashion, loungewear, party wear, cut and sew, woven tops, knits and denim”. One of the reasons I chose to look into this trend was due to my admiration for the concept, it influences real life aesthetics and puts it through a digital perspective to create a futuristic feel to it. Something I want to explore further in this project (and one of the reasons I chose this trend set - Natuerverse) was because of my love for the idea of mixing both real life, organic and natural substance with the digital, technological side of things to create a visually pleasing outcome.
