If "loving yourself" seems far away, aim for treating yourself with the basic kindness and respect that you aim to treat everyone else with. Or if even that feels unrealistic, aim for not hurting and neglecting yourself. You don't have to move from 1 to 100 all at once. Just start, even if you gotta start slow, even if the journey in front of you is long. It's okay to be a work in progress. We all are, for life.

hi gang. reminder that we are some of the best sweaters in the animal kingdom (second only to equines) allowing us to stay cool and keep moving in hot weather. we have 10 times the density of sweat glands compared to other great apes.

we are ALSO insanely good at smelling rain (specifically geosmin, found in the soil and activated by rain) with the ability to smell 10 parts per trillion. this is speculated to have helped our ancestors survive!

we ALSO have absolutely batshit diets compared to most other animals. caffeine and chocolate are completely toxic to most animals but we can eat it without even feeling sick. even avocados are severely toxic to many animals to the point where it can be fatal to eat, but humans love it!!!

we are ALSO the best endurance runners ON EARTH out of ANY other species. we beat horses in endurance running. you know, the animals that gradually evolved away most of their toes in order to be the best runners?? yeahhh.

and to top it all off. our lifespan is unusually long for our species' weight/mass. typically, the bigger a species is, the longer its average lifespan (e.g. domestic mice live for 1-3 years, whales can live over 200) but we're very small for how long our average lifespan is. big cats like tigers live around 14-15 years, brown bears 25 years, yet here we are expected to live around 75-85 years. that is NUTS.

humans as a species are so extremely cool. it's not just our intellect that makes us amazing. we may not be the fastest or the strongest in the animal kingdom but we're super cool in many other ways. next time you sweat you can go wow!!! humans are so cool I'm able to keep moving because of my absolutely insane number of sweat glands! thank you evolution!

if susie wants to be a box, she will.

the universe can scribble down all the tragic endings it likes. destiny can draft all the plans it pleases.

but if there's a spot next to susie where you belong, that's where you're going to be. prophecy be damned.

susie's never been one to confine herself to prescribed roles.

you really think she’s gonna start now?

doesn't matter who’s doing the talking - teacher, tyrant, time itself. if the call is for unquestioned submission, she’s already halfway out the door.

she can’t burn the pages, can’t erase the words or scrub out the subtext.

but she can drag her heels across every sacred line. love so fiercely the glass begins to fog. care so loudly the plot forgets its course.

the ending may be scheduled. might already be rounding the corner, actually. 

still, i believe susie can stall it. trip it up. make it stutter. doubt.

susie is resistance, knuckles white.

susie is hope, everything bright.

watch her grab hold of someone's despair and shake it until it rattles apart. 

watch her look at inevitability and laugh until it gets nervous. 

watch her plant her feet on ground that was supposed to give way and discover that some things are more stubborn than gravity.

the prophecy longed for order. dutifulness. clean lines. it wanted "heroes" who stuck to the script, who saved the world quietly, who knew their role and stayed in it.

and for the most part… that was ralsei.

the one who guides, who heals, who smiles no matter how much it hurts.

he's never asked for more than what the prophecy offered. never reached beyond his lines.

ralsei's lived his whole life like a beautifully penned footnote - important, but never central.

he believes being good means being useful.

he doesn’t ask. doesn’t want. doesn’t dream.

his room is empty... because no one ever told him he was allowed to want something just for himself.

his desire has always been to be needed, never to need.

he bakes for us. sings for us. sews for us.

keeps giving and giving and giving,

believing that is what earns him a place to stay.

but... susie doesn’t keep him around for what he offers. she does so simply because he is ralsei.

because conversations are more fun when he's in them, because someone's got to groan at his terrible attempts at sarcasm, because someone has to look him dead in the eyes and tell him he is real and can't be cast aside.

susie is hope. blinding, blistering hope.

every time she batters her way through the destined writ, her friends get another moment to exist and be by her side.

every bone she picks with fate is one more heartbeat they get to feel.

and that. that is all she needs. 

you don’t have to be chosen to choose. frankly, susie doesn’t give a single, solitary, shining blue fuck about what’s been foretold and decided for us. the second destiny tries to threaten those she loves - she’s already standing in its way.

this world seems hellbent on racing toward a single ending.

but if that’s where it ends up, it’ll only be because susie isn't letting it go anywhere else.

and if you spend enough time beside someone who refuses to stay in their lane.... you start wondering why you ever stayed in yours.

if susie wants to be a box, she will.

and soon... ralsei will too.

My Farewell to The Eclipse and Puppet Show

2 Years ago A Youtube Comment left on The DEATH of ECLIPSE in VRCHAT (Part 2):

This show is something else, man. Wow. Sayonara, Eclipse. I really, truly wish you could have chosen to learn better before it was too late.

I guess I got my wish.

Eclipse. I have talked so, so much about Eclipse. But now faced with the end of his story in The Eclipse and Puppet Show, I am actually finding it hard to know what to say for once. And I think anyone who hangs out around the theory threads on the tsbs discord regularly knows that is highly usual given what a high-octane yapper I can be once I get going, ha ha.

I thought about copy-pasting some stuff I have written in the past instead. About why I love Eclipse so much as a character. About how fascinating and complex his relationship with Charlie is. About how Eclipse is the character who got me hooked onto tsbs as a whole, and about how talking about him drew me into to actually participating in fandom. To make connections with other people. But honestly. There is just too much.

Perhaps that is the real problem. Not that I do not have the words, but I have far, far too many. I know EAPS is just a piece of fiction, but it has meant a lot to me. There is just so much I want to say that I can’t begin to meaningfully summarize it.

The Eclipse and Puppet Show has been my absolute favorite of the TSBS shows and I am going to miss it immensely. But, I am so, so happy that I got to experience it.

Davis, Flora, Matt. Thankyou. Thankyou so, so much for telling this story. It really has been a heck of a ride.

… As for the titular hosts of Eaps. Well, if I could talk to these characters, I think this is what I would have to say:

Charlie. You wonderful girl. You have been forced to carry far more than any child should. And it isn’t fair and I’m sorry. But in the end, you didn’t lose yourself. And for that I am so, *so* proud of you. Keep that loving, earnest heart of yours alive. It is one of the best qualities you have, a power greater than the ones Puppet gave you. Just, don’t forget that respecting people is just as important as caring about them, ok?

You have a good heart, kid. I'm rooting for you.

Eclipse. I admire you so much. Your integrity of action, your willingness to learn and change. Your determination. Your deep well of care. And that even when you mess up, when you regress into worse habits, when you stumble, when you struggle, you get back up again and keep trying. I respect that so much and in that regard, I wish I was more like you.

Don’t forget that people care about you. They don’t always know you to communicate that to you, just as you sometimes struggle to communicate that to them. But they do care.

Sayonara, Eclipse. I hope one day you can you can see yourself the way your loved ones do.

So. To Writers, Voice Actors, Body Actors, Artists and Ediors Alike, Thankyou. For everything.
