Kode Gaming
I was approached over social media to create a new logo and branding design for an up and coming gamer. They were only starting but they wanted a logo which would be over their twitch and other media accounts. We sent each other a few sketches of what he wanted, he was really clear on creating a KG icon mixing the two together. Also since he was a kind off commentator/lets play gamer he talks alot so I started to experiment with shapes to do with speech marks and bubbles. This is where the shape comes from.
He loved this after an initial sketch and then after I vectorised it he loved it and instantly wanted the image and files, which is great! He also has asked for a possible banner designs, again for social media presence stuff and also a small intro to be created for him. I will get round to doing these asap as he needs them doing and then we will discuss the payment but loved doing this!

Trappist Models
So I have created a fully functional Unity solar system which infinitely loops for however long you want it too, the speeds need changing and setting right, which I think we can do in the application if not I can always re-key them in C4D which will be a pain but not too bad.
I have had to export every rotation individually into the unity project from C4D as an FBX file, I then have had to bake every single texture onto the assets file in Unity seeing as Unity will not import multiple texture edits which, I tell you, is a pain. The next step is probably to finalise the textures as there is two textures which I am not too happy with, its taken a lot of fiddling in between everything else thats been going on to get them to look right.
The only crap thing about Unity is that the lighting isnt advanced enough to render bounce lights etc. So we will have to use directional light for it. But as I said we need to adjust the speed and make sure its not too fast and is slow enough for people to get a good look. We just need to get the correct height off the table for people to see and for people to see the system.
I really want to try and get this all done this week because I am sick off looking at Cinema 4d’s awful keying system for animations haha, I am excited to start some branding for trappist, get some editorial done and try and come up with some amazing posters.
And then I can add all of this into my hand in booklet which will be quite big as it goes.

20/20 Gold Final Hand In
Finally got this one out of the way, client is happy with the progress and likes the colours and final logo. I really liked the use of multiple icon designs so they can pick and choose what colour and style they need to promote their brand. I did enjoy this one, at the start they were very picky but this was a nice finish.
Goals for this week are to get my hand in booklet started, adding projects in there that are completed like Crowne Plaza, Cyprus, North Face 20/20 and Kodes Gaming. Then need to get cracking on getting everything else done such as Aquila, LXCUS (Style Book has been started :)) and Origin with Henry and Adam which should be pretty fun and light work!

Model Trappist F
Really liking the look of some of these models, Ive had to use some imagination of all the other bits of the planet that you cannot see. Also what colours the planets look like without the harsh orange glow on them.
Unfortunately the materials that I have created for the planets seem to not like being imported to Unity, so I have to burn every single texture to then layer them on top to get the texture and colour I want which is kind off annoying but it works.
As long as unity can at least make the planets look good quality through the camera I think we are really gonna have something that will at least make people see something they will have never experienced.

LXCUS
Since the guidelines for LXCUS have been completed and everyone is happy for it to move forward, Im starting to design and create a look book. This will include the brand and the style which was created for the brand and a style of photography thanks to Paul my good buddy. Hes in Spain at the moment but will be coming up in the next few weeks, he has done around 2 shoots keeping a style in mind for LXCUS and the marketing and lookbook surrounding the brand.
Im looking at creating some gifs with the text and images to grab peoples attention on social media as this is our demographic, young modern influencers.
Im looking to book out the studio for a photoshoot which should be great and can play around with lighting and feel when we get Paul in Birmingham.

Model 3
Model 3 is of the “e” planet of the system, this one was hard to do based on what has been shown of the planet. From images it looks as if its mostly made of water, that kind off blows my mind when you think about it, a bit like a star wars planet.
Again with this one the light is the orange glint from the physical light in the system they used to render out their image. I added a slight atmospheric look to this one, balancing out the alpha channels and the colour to get a realistic look that resembles what is the possible actual atmospheric look to the planet. Its a very blue planet so I though a light blue glow would suit the planet and also add some depth when a light hits the back it has a slight glow which is nice.
I think we will look into lighting physical effects for the actual environment.

Second Model
The second furthest planet of the solar system, need to tweak the clouds but its difficult to get the alpha channels right. Again with this planet the harsh orange glow was hard to judge but this is such an interesting planet with almost 3 colour stripers running through it.
This was hard to try and emulate and I had to create a turbulence gradient which allowed some colours to mix similar to the planet, it needs to be tweaked as do the clouds but the colours are pretty good. I just need to slightly tweak them but very happy with this one, im not sure if the planet is gas or not, that would be interesting to find out.
Happy with the first two models but this one needs slight tweaking with the clouds and turbulence.

Cyprus Kitchen Hand In
Final document handed in for submission for the Cyprus Kitchen brief. I am really happy with how this project turned out and really pleased with the colour palette out of everything. I think it has a great story and meaning behind the colours that were chosen and how they were chosen.
Also very happy with how I tried to bring in Nick’s personality from his videos using phrases that he used on multiple occasions around the packaging. I think it was important to show that the brand was essentially a part of his personality as it was his creation.
I wish I pushed myself further to create some motion for it however, as they do youtube and constantly do vlogs and material for online use it would have been great to show how the brand could work online and with motion. I also think it was important to show the client how the packaging and brand could fit over almost all elements, using either the pattern, icons or logo font to help the brand stand out.
Overall pretty pleased with the final hand in, but wish I added a few more elements to try to cover all bases, just have to wait to see who won and if not I still really like this and it will definitely be going in my portfolio.

First Model
Whats hard about trying to create planets that have only been seen through nasa and its system images is that you cannot judge the colours too well. They use a harsh orange glow that covers half of the planet as you can see from the first system image here.
This render is a material that spent me a good while adjusting the material layers, It still needs a few tweaks but the hardest bit was getting the colours right. I think it looks very alike to what has been posted about the planet and I am happy with the way this one looks.
Another hard task is that there is no high quality images such as there is with our system so you have to make a material from scratch and make sure it has the same elements as Nasa’s. I tried to match up deep caverns you can see on this planet and also as it is the farthest away I tried to make it white as without the orange light thats what it would look like. I have also created a transparent atmospheric layer that is subtle but is important for the look. This creates a small dark shade around the circumference of the model and gives the planet a realistic colour look. I have begun some of the other models but I am creating my own texture maps for a lot of them.
Especially F, im having to create my own version of the ice and the sea that seems to cover around half the planet and it is important for that element to be in the material and stand out.

20 20 Gold
The clients liked my first initial ideas but then also loved the refinements that were made as they mentioned wanting the designs to look more like actual gold. I decided to refine the rest of the designs and send them over and the preferred designs were these two.
I really like the right one but the left one would look great on anything placement wise for them so I think both are a great choice but its just now down to them to choose a final design.

Aquila 3D Modelling
SO for Aquila we have the original elements I made for the solar system which need some tweaking for unity and for edan to use but also we need to figure out the lighting and physics system in unity and whether it can give the models a great look!
I have started to try and create copies of the Trappist system, I have done the far 2 right ones but as you can see some of them a varied and complexity. The toughest one I think will be “f”, it looks as if its an ice planet with a large ocean which can be hard. It took me a good few hours yesterday creating the right material and elements within it to have a similar look to the far right ones of the system. Also a lot of pictures released of the system have a harsh orange glow on them so its hard to tell there actual colour.
I think the ones I have completed are good enough but It’s just about getting the right look for the rest of the system. D and F and definitely looking like hard ones at the moment, I will see what can be done but I may have to try and create my own texture maps for them.

Cyprus Kitchen
Managed to finally finish Cyprus kitchen and will start to post how I went about the final steps of the branding and the project. Showing my insights into why I chose certain elements of this branding project.
Quite pleased with the outcome and looking forward to the next part of this year with 4 projects down! I am also going to start collating everything I created and how I did it within a small editorial pamphlet as I did for negotiated study but this time I will print them out. Giving people at the degree show the opportunity to see how I work and where the work starts from!

Poster Series
The client chose a few images with some of my advice on what suited the seasons and demographic of the campaign. The images were such good quality and then I came up with the idea of “becoming one with the elements” as the clothes are made sustainably and with natural material. Also “consider the elements within your clothes” as this also linked directly with the sustainable side of the brand and cloth range.
The client loved the saying and wanted a series of posters using colours from the brand guidelines and a similar blocky style to what North Face already have. Really pleased with the outcome and so was the client, the colours were all used within the guidelines and so was the text.
I will tidy up this project and then thats another one down, 4 down 2 to go and possibly a few more mini briefs along the way!

North Face Elements
Helped create multiple video placement shots for the social media and advertising side of the project. Showed how the branding and campaign can be versatile enough to stretch through the seasons giving the client the ability to use the designs and videos when they needed them.
Also worked on a short poster series as well as actually looking into printing of the fabric for the logo that was made for the project.

Over Easter!
So whats been going on over easter. Not too much, Birthday and chocolate kind off took over. Next steps with Aquila have taken a leap, managed to create a looping solar system animation in cinema 4D which would allow our MR idea to move and it works in unity with only the slight problem of not looping. We can look into it but its a great start as originally I couldnt get any animation what so ever!
When we’re back we can steam through aquila and also work on any other elements such as promotional videos and material and also any 3D AR elements we want people to interact with!
LXCUS will be getting developed this week, finishing off some guidelines, some video possibly for it and also planning the photoshoot and getting some T-Shirts ready for then. Also wanted to work on the website and promotional material which will be happening this week or next and then flying through both of them to get them finished in time for hand in.
Possibly also developing a lookbook for the brand and with clothing which would be cool!

North Face Elements
My girlfriend is currently studying Fashion Business Promotion and is currently looking to set up a range for North Face for her FMP. She wants to create a line of clothing created using sustainable and innovative materials that not only strengthen and enhance the clothes but also are good for the environment.
She felt that North Face would be the perfect brand as they are well paced in outdoor clothing. She has researched into these materials and has put together a business plan explaining the demographic, cost, finance as well as a range plan and trend book. She will also look to develop a marketing plan and create some “elements” for them.
For this project she wanted some designs, she decided that the range would be called elements as it makes sense. The clothing is essentially made by the elements and she needed a logo design. It had to be something similar to what North Face currently have but something that would stand out. I put across some design ideas and the ones she liked are on the top 2 images. We boiled down the choices to two very similar designs with small differences and decided on one.
She is now stuck into her business plan and has already experimented with pattern designs for her range as you can see above with my logo design printed over the top. They look so cool and actually look really legit, in a sense that I can imagine North Face going for such a pattern design with the colours. The next stage for this project is to create a motion piece describing her project, also other marketing elements that she may want for the project.

Operation Aquila, Back In The Swing
We had a meeting with the guys about Aquila and the next steps as this first few months was mainly to understand new technology. Edan has thrown himself into the Unity game engine and now pretty much understands a lot, I have done my own experiments but will need to refresh my memory. We decided that we would want to create this MR experience but make it simpler than we first thought.
Instead of using the phones GPS location to map out a room or space we will go back to the usual target image on a low down structure such as a 30cm high table that has a decent internal area to map out the solar system. Our next goal is to build this or construct this and go about making the elements move which is where we may need cinema 4D as Edan has researched that most people animate in other programmes and then bring them into Unity. This is probably my next step with the project.
We also talked about the AR elements as we don’t want to completely forget this interaction, for example allowing people to hold 3D spheres with each planet and examine up close, this will give a mixed reality feel and people the ability to get up close. I think this is such an exciting prospect and we are all going to put so much effort into doing this.
