“ please, say something. “ dorcas night & justin foley @disgracedaughter
the elephant in the room is strictly on justin’s conscience. nothing made it lessened his guilt and he knew nothing would. he couldn’t even make eye contact with the woman who stood before him , imploring verbal validation of some sort. the unknown terrified him , not where he couldn’t decipher was real or what he couldn’t control. his own life uncontrollably torpedoed into a waiting disaster. it’s the life he grew comfortable with. “ what do you want me to say , that it’s okay dorcas ? i don’t even know what the fuck i saw. “

the warning was ominous and anxiety already danced throughout his veins. fingers rubbing up and down against his own arm in an antsy display. “ why not ? “ he shot at the other with a tone laden with attitude. “ what’d you see ? “ ocean eyes look towards to the path towards the section the other forbade him from going. very little trust existed , maybe it was their previous time together set everything ablaze.
a loud snap of gum was his first attempt at a warning. the second, though, provided far more clarity, “i wouldn’t go over there, if i were you.” he eyed the dark corner that turned to another part of the carnival. an area that he’d already been in and he absolutely would not be going back. not even if he was dragged, kicking and screaming, over there. like last time. he’d fight harder next time, he was certain of that much. “in fact, best to stay put. either they’ll find you or more people will come around. probably best to have numbers.”

Veronica hadn’t expected to stumble upon a sleeping man on her walk today, and she had no intentions of interacting with him in the slightest. Wasn’t the term, let sleeping dogs lie? Wasn’t it the same for sleeping boys too? But just as she was about to pass him, he startled himself awake which only startled Veronica too. “jesus..” she muttered to herself before composing herself together again. “Only a few minutes, and I was going to leave you to rest. If I was being honest. You looked pretty peaceful.”
the sunlight caused him to squint for a moment until he had to tear his eyes away from the silhouette. shaking the irritation away , he steadily rose to his feet , brows lifting from the astonishing word. PEACEFUL. when has he ever been at peace ?? the only time he found himself on cloud nine would be when he satisfied his addiction. and even then settling up at that high could remind you of how alone you truly were. “ peaceful ??” the word came out in a tone fo disbelief. but then he recalled something highly unusual, “ figures the first time that’d happen I’d end up camping outside the dorm building . ..” he sighed , the irritation coming from embarrassment at being caught. “ i was - locked out of my dorm room , my roommates suck. “ he pointed out with a casual shrug, lying through his teeth.

The summer heat lulled him into an unexpected slumber. Although , his lack of proper sleep he's had made it not so surprising. His dorm remained vacant for the last few days , his attendance level at ground zero during that time. College – definitely wasn't something that Justin Foley imagined for himself. At no point in his life did he ever imagine that he'd actually get into university. The way his life barreled down a disparaging path, it was hard to create any substantial thoughts of a future. Nightmares have left him sleepless. Everyday he lived with that aching and dispelling anxiety that it would only be temporary. Nothing good ever lasts , and his mentality slipped considerably at an alarming rate that he now rested up against a brick wall. “ Shit , “ he said suddenly, jerking awake, as he heard footsteps approaching , maybe a voice ?? he couldn't be too sure if that wasn't apart of his illusive imagination. “ how long have you been there ?? “
