Boston The Walking City - Part Three
Boston The Walking City – Part Three
Beacon Hill, Boston MA In Boston on a hill that runs behind the State House is a beautiful prime residential area called Beacon Hill. It stretches from the Boston Commons and up over the hill behind the State House down to the Charles River. The streets are lined with beautiful old brick brown stone buildings. Smattered here and there are some large almost mansions. The houses are mostly…

Boston the Walking City - Part Two
Boston the Walking City – Part Two
Boston Public Garden During the second day of our visit to Boston I took Joanne to see the Boston Public Gardens. The gardens are a park located smack dab in the middle of the city across the street from Boston Commons. Centered in the park is a pond which is home to the iconic Swan Boats. Filled with people you can watch them glide quietly over the water. It’s always such a lovely scene. The…

Boston The Walking City - Part One
Boston The Walking City – Part One
Boston skyline across Faneuil Hall towards the Financial District In the summer of 2019, my friend Joanne and I went to Boston overnight before she returned home to Canada. I wanted to show Jo what a beautiful city Boston was and how you can just about walk everywhere. Our hotel was in the Seaport District by the World Trade Center. We drove up to Boston from Cape Cod on a Friday afternoon and…

Quechee Vermont Balloon Festival
Quechee Vermont Balloon Festival
Quechee VT Balloon Festival A number of years ago Hubby and I took a trip to Quechee Vermont for the balloon festival. Typically, this is held each year on Father’s Day weekend. I had never seen an actual hot air balloon prior to our trip other than in pictures. Actually, the balloons were more magnificent than any photo I had seen. The sheer size of them was much larger than I imagined. When…

To My Husband With Love. Happy Valentine's Day!
To My Husband With Love. Happy Valentine’s Day!
This past year has been life changing, isolating, and scary for everyone. It has been a time for all of us to reflect as to what and who is most important in our lives. For me that is my husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, friends and pets. All of whom I care for and love very much. Because of Covid my husband and I haven’t been able to spend much if any time with our extended…

Where I May See Beauty Others Cringe
Where I May See Beauty Others Cringe
Freshly fallen snow in Rangeley Maine. I realize that while I may love, love, love the snow and cold others may cringe. As a child I grew up in Canada where in the winter we would be buried in snow. You knew how to dress appropriately and had all the heavy duty winter gear. We skated, cross-country skied, snowshoed, snowmobiled and went sledding. It was a perfect winter wonderland and a great…

Boston In The Winter
Boston In The Winter
Faneuil Hall Marketplace I love going to Boston. There is something magical about the city. From our house on Cape Cod, Boston is about an hours drive. During the week it can take considerably longer. So to visit Boston is not something that we do all the time. It’s great for Hubby and I to spend a night or two when head up for a visit. I’m sure most people don’t consider going into the city in…

One Thing I Have Never Regretted
One Thing I Have Never Regretted
MELLIE One thing I have never regretted is rescuing dogs. Our first rescue was a Pug named Virgil. He was six years old when we rescued him. He was covered in mange and half of his hair was missing. His nails were so unbelievably long. It took weeks of going to the vet and having them trim them back a little each time to get them to an acceptable length. Eventually his hair grew back, his skin…

Cape Cod and the Quahog
Cape Cod and the Quahog
https://www.etsy.com/listing/939508937/cape-cod-photography-massachusetts?ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1 My husband and I love to hop on our Harley Davidson and just explore. It’s especially wonderful on a sunny day. We happen to be riding along the coast of Cape Cod between Chatham and Harwich and came upon these people clamming a/k/a Quahogging as it is referred to on Cape Cod. This is a past…

$20,000.00 in sales. A Milestone.
$20,000.00 in sales. A Milestone.

I have always had a love of photography. For decades I have enjoyed capturing moments or places on film. And then came the advent of the digital camera and editing programs. I found I was more inspired by digital photography because I could immediately see what I had captured. And yes edit the photos to what I felt was perfection.
Here I am a number of years later and I have just reached a…

Christmas Ornaments

Each time we travel I make a habit of picking up one or two ornaments as a memento of where we have been. When I get home I tuck them aside to add to the tree at Christmas time. I’m always thrilled when that time of year arrives! I can see all the fantastic places we have been just by looking at my ornaments. It also adds to the beauty of the tree with its unique ornaments. This year was no…

Maine Get Away

I am one of those people who loves snow. If it’s winter then I want to be buried in it. The more the merrier. I love the beauty of it. At the same time I don’t mind the cold to a point. I find 25 degrees (fahrenheit) or higher is acceptable so long as you are dressed properly. Below that it starts to get uncomfortable even if you are bundled up.

This past week Hubby and I, my brother and…

A Week in Provincetown Massachusetts
A Week in Provincetown Massachusetts

My husband and I just spent a week vacationing in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Although “PTown” as its called for short, is on the end tip of Cape Cod, it still takes us an hour and a half to drive there.

The town itself from May through October is so exciting and full of energy. Commercial Street, which runs along the ocean is the hub for most of the shops and restaurants. The whole area is…
