Ingredients:

a little bottle/jar

wax, pink if you can

sugar for peace

vanilla for tenderness

dried rose for love

dried mint for positivity

dried sage to keep negative thoughts away

lavender for calm and love

a love stone such as rose quartz (if you have one)

How to proceed:

Take the time to light a candle, meditate if you wish to and focus on your intent:self love, feeling love to yourself, seeing your beauty, etc. Visualize it cleary and with as many details as possible.

Add the sugar at the bottom of your jar, then all the other ingredients in layers. With each ingredient, repeat your wish for loving yourself.

Finally, add the lid to your bottle and seal it with the wax (I used vanilla wax here), focusing on your intent one last time

Add a pink ribbon if you wish.

Keep the jar with you and don’t hestiate to pull it out everytime you feel self doubt overpowering you!

Note: you can also do the same thing as a charm bag, using a pink, red or golden fabric!

I don’t really mix religion and witchcraft. I don’t have an altar dedicated to anyone and I don’t really believe in any gods except for the one big bossgod.

In my experience no witch has ever attacked me for being Christian and no Christian has ever critisized my witchdom (but that might be because I don’t live a very obvious witch life and don’t look like this)

But what I don’t really understand is how you plan to be a Christian witch and still dedicated to Hecate since the monotheism thing is sort of crucial to Christianity...unless of course you don’t want to be Christian anymore. Or you see Hecate as something other than a goddess, like some spirit or something.

And lastly a short history of witchcraft in my beautiful European regions: When Christianization happened, a lot of people weren’t all to happy and just continued with whatever they had been doing for generations (The Merseburger Zaubersprüche are a great example). But under the church having magical powers was not approved, so all of the fun stuff was called a CRAFT, meaning you can learn it, no Satan has given it to you, and it’s just as valid as woodcarving. This idea has prevailed, very few people believe in a Harry-Potter-style-magic-by-blood witchcraft, but rather see it as a craft anyone can learn whenever they want. And this kind of witchcraft is fine with Christianity, I think, conjuring up 7 demons and selling your children to them is probably not.

you can decorate your book with dried up leaves/flowers, illustrations, collages, colored pen/markers. I would recommend adding a protection sigil. by no means do you have to make your book aesthetically pleasing, do whatever works for you! In my case, the nicer it is the more I’ll use it. add whatever is important to your craft, don’t add stuff you’re not going to need or use. make it your own!

July 27th, 2018: Martian Blood Moon in Aquarius/Mercury Retrograde in Leo.

Welcome to the big show! Can you feel that tension building up, Tumblr? On Friday the 27th, kicking off the last weekend of July, the stars and planets have conspired to create the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century! That’s right, it’s gonna be 3 hours and 55 mins of crazy eclipse energy! 1 hour and 42 minutes of which will stain our beloved Luna a bloody crimson. That’s because this time, the moon is plunging straight through earth’s shadow, and not just lightly grazing us.

This event won’t be visible in the Northern Hemisphere but those in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand will get to enjoy seeing it. Either way, the gravity off this event will be felt worldwide, and so I encourage every magic practitioner out there to use this energy while the energy is going hot.

Speaking of hot, let’s talk about those fiery astrological details! 

First off, it’s a total lunar eclipse. It’ll be occurring in the South Node. This means our eclipse will focus around themes of emotional endings, baggage from the past, reminders of what we’ve already done and have been through, and (like Saturn) decreases possibilities. However, these possibilities were never meant to be! Ya know, unless you can travel time ;) People will also be revealing their true colors as a lunar eclipse tears away all magic or psychological glamours to reveal the ugly truth.

On the same night as the eclipse, our planet will pass between the Sun and planet Mars. This will put Mars at opposition with Earth, placing the warrior planet right next to the lunar eclipse!  This Mars opposition is the best we’ve had since 2003, so it’ll be super bright, and visible. Think of that poignant symbolism!  Mars is firing up the moon with the fires of it’s passion. And the moon is thusly transformed, becoming the same red as Mars itself. So with all that in mind, I can tell this is gonna be a spicy boi.

Our tempers untempered will be at peak YIKES. Mars is retrograding in the sign of Aquarius adding seething frustration or fury to the mix with our inability to take action and live our truest ideals, thus chaining our self-expression. Mars and the Moon will be present in the same sign-so again, there’s that symbolism of our unexpressed passions firing up our emotions. Mars will also be squaring Uranus so that frustration might become so inflamed that we want tear it all down. Ourselves, our way of lives, and those we think are holding us back from true self-expression. Sun opposition Mars will cause us to wanna fight externally when the battle is really inside ourselves and our own perceptions. We could risk projecting our emotional demons onto others fully convinced they’re the ones with an issue. Mars conjunct the moon lends impulsiveness, passion, or instinct to our emotions.

Mercury will be back at it with it’s shit again the day BEFORE the eclipse. That’s on the 26th. So already, we’re kinda getting boned by the stars here. And it’ll be in self-orientated, charismatic, and lead diva Leo. Ever the trickster, Mercury is fooling us into really believing in our own bullshit to the effect of having us acting like pompous jackasses to each other if our ego is challenged. We might get a little caught up in our own opinions, overreact, and say some really awful things. But perhaps these were things that have been brewing on the back burner of your heart for quite some time.  Sometimes it takes getting into a heated scream match with someone who’s been taking advantage of you and asserting yourself to realize who you really are. And what you’re really about. So Mercury’s job in this retrograde is to loosen your lips so as to start some really important dialogues about Self as opposed to others.

The sun is in Leo in it’s 4th degree. And the moon is in Aquarius who’s also in it’s 4th degree. Again, we’re confronted with the ideas of our little picture and humanity’s bigger picture and what we choose to value. Do we stick to our little box of stuff or join into the large oceans of the collective? We might be challenged to quit playing certain roles in people’s lives or even quiting our own roles in our own lives to heed to the call of the future. Personal revelations will abound during this eclipse. It’s possible that these revelations will lead you to quiting an old way of  life and stepping into a fresh, new one. Mercury retrograde is helping us with verbalizing what this Leo sun and Aquarius moon in four degrees is trying to show us: what roles we play with ourselves, what roles we play in other people’s lives, and what roles no longer fit who we’ve become since the solar eclipse last summer.

Venus in Virgo along with Venus trine Pluto will have us picking over the details of all our relationships and questioning whether they are healthy, loving connections worth our emotional intensity and efforts. So underlying this hot anger and feeling chained to relationships that no longer serve, is the overwhelming need to feel appreciated for who we are by our friends and lovers. And if we aren’t appreciated, what’s the point of staying in these old, and broken roles? Venus wants to be recognized for the things Venus does for the people Venus loves. And so do you, I bet.

The Sun is Quindecile Pluto who is also Trine with Venus atm so the implication here is that no matter how much you hide, the sun will place a spotlight on the shadowy underbelly of your relationships. Sun opposition Mars causes you to fight with said relationships so as to establish your stake in them or eliminate enemies in your metaphorical bed.

Just be careful if the fight is valid or just stuff you’re reading into because Neptune is retrograde in Pisces causing all sorts of illusionary, victimizing, escapist bullshit that probably sounds really good to Mercury retrograding in Leo. Maybe the problem isn’t with how others are or aren’t treating you…but how you’re treating yourself. And maybe all it takes is letting that self-depreciation and self-obsessiveness go? Give into the flow of the bigger picture? The good thing about Neptune retrograde is the call to finding your inner spirituality and Oneness with the Multi-verse. There’s gonna be a huge wave of new seekers or people initiating into deeper magics. 

Jupiter in Scorpio is chillin’ over there expanding those underworld vibes that has us looking at our dark sides and that of humanity while Pluto retrograding in Capricorn has us wound tight to destroy the authorities that are controlling you and placing you in any kind of bondage. Demanding you take action while also making you face having to give up what’s keeping you locked up. Saturn in the same sign as Pluto has us paying our karmic debts or living up to responsibilities we’ve avoided. Probably a lot of people right now are considering.going to/going back to rehab or some sort of intense therapy, reaping actions that they’ve sowed for awhile now, realizing they’re in an abusive relationship of some sort, having health issues, or planning to overthrow a government. Or more personally and micro-cosmically, you might  be overthrowing your own shadow-self and it’s control over your actions by releasing old patterns and karmic debts made in this life and those of the past. Uranus in Taurus is set to demolish any structure based in sentimentality that can’t uphold it’s movement into the future and laughing wildly as it topples empires thought to be as solid as titanium.

Amongst all this chaos, we have our saving grace: Saturn Trine Uranus. It will take all this conflict and fire and relationship conflict and give it a harmonious resolution. Saturn Trine Uranus is the best blend of working within the rules of a structure or relationship and finding new ways for everyone to feel appreciated. It’s the perfect blend of stability and innovation and often it takes the form of finding new ways to do old things. So if you have to quit smoking again, quit interacting with certain people again, quit trying to control the outcomes out of your control, or finally doing what you need to in order to gain your freedom of expression again, try approaching it at a different angle than your usual. Maybe stand on top of your head and see the world upside from a fresh perspective and listen to what Future You has to say about your role in the world.

So to summarize:  We’re analyzing our inner/external relationships because some of them might not be good for us anymore. And we’re being called to move into the future with more self-awareness and freedom to express who we are on an intrinsic level. We’re gonna take action to make this happen. No more sitting around. And we’re probably gonna fight and or scream loudly. Aka. We’re not gonna take it! No, we ain’t gonna take it! We’re not gonna take it anymore!

As a college student, how do you afford witchcraft materials? Also,how are you studying herbalism? Love your blog!!

Thanks! I have just been studying herbs on my own in several books and online, and learning by experimenting with using different herbs in lots of different ways! I do plan to take an herbalist training sometime within 2-3 years from now though! And next year at my college i will be taking a course in ecology (bio) and botany, which aren’t about herbs directly but it is good foundational knowledge for working with herbs.

Magick itself costs nothing and does not require any materials, its all about your intention. however personally i do like to have witchcraft materials because it helps me to get into the right frame of mind. That being said, many materials can be found or made for free, or bought for very cheap. Personally, i rarely spend money on supplies for witchcraft. Most of what i have has just accumulated slowly over the years, and many things have been gifted to me. 

Here are some ideas for free and/or cheap materials for magick.

Crystals: Look for low price crystals at garage sales and online, I have also found really low priced crystals at antique shops, museum gift shops, and sometimes i find a good deal at local metaphysical shops and crystal shops.

Rocks: Find them for free outside!

Wand: Make for free from found tree branches and sticks. You can decorate it (if you like) with whatever crafty materials you have on hand, such us wire & crystals or stones, yarn/string, feathers, anything else you can think of!

Athame: Use your hand as an athame! Extend middle & pointer finger together and hold ring and pinky fingers down to palm with thumb.

Pendulum: You can use any weighted item on any string or chain as a pendulum! You could use a rock and string, a needle and thread, a pendant on a chain, etc.

Sage: I found a big bundle of sage for really cheap at an antique store a while ago, and its lasting forever! I have also dried fresh sage from the fridge when there was more in there than would get used for food. And depending where you live you might be able to grow and/or forage sage.

Candles: Look for cheap candles at garage sales, thrift stores, and the dollar store. I usually just buy candles at the local metaphysical store because the little colored ones are only like 35 cents or something like that.

Seeds: Seeds of all kinds can be found for reasonably cheap at many different stores.

Soil: I compost and create my own soil that way, and use bagged soil for indoor plants.

Pots: Look for them cheap at garage sales and thrift stores.

Herbs: I use herbs in and from my kitchen mostly, I buy them in bulk at a health food store, and some I grow myself. The dollar store also has a pretty big selection of herbs (spices). 

Jars: Wash and save food jars!! Also the dollar store has a good selection of jars.

Shells: Collect them when you go to the beach.

Feathers: Look outside!

“I Am Majestic” Bath Ritual

Lavender buds

Rosemary sprigs

Lush’s Rose Jam shower gel, inscribing @sigils-in-your-area‘s “I am majestic” sigil

Lush’s Brightside bubble bar - SMALL AMOUNT! A little goes a long way!

Handful of oats

16oz of almond milk

Assorted flowers

Half dozen roses - use 3 for petals and toss 3 whole heads in

Medium sliced orange

Small sliced lemon

White candles

Layer ingredients as listed above, running the bath water after you have added the oats. As it fills, feel free to mix in the milk. Be sure to stir the water with your hands as the water rises, gently whispering your intent. You may also light your candles as you wait and be sure to exercise fire safety! 

This bath is one of self care and love. Speak softly and kindly phrases such as “I am powerful” and “I am knowledgeable” when stirring - we want it to be brimming with lovely positivity! Once the tub is full, shut off the water and add your flowers and fruit. 

Whilst in the tub, visualize any negative thoughts or energies being washed away. Deeply inhale the lovely fruity, floral scents around you. Think of yourself as royalty! You deserve this luxurious soak!

Remain in the tub for as little or long as you see fit. I stayed in until the water got chilly!

After your soak, be sure to drain the tub carefully - little bits like lavender buds and oats can clog your bath. 

And that’s it, loves! You took a bath worthy of the majestic creature you are!

Note: You may use as many or as little of these ingredients as you like, or substitute if need be - whatever you need to make YOU feel great!

I keep fantasizing about how cool it would be if humans were supernatural creatures and their powers and physical features were based on their sun, moon, and rising sign.

Hear me out: sun signs determine the basic physical features like nails that are strong like claws or goat horns or gills that can be activated and deactivated. Moon signs determine what powers you have; Aries moon can have pyrokinesis, Gemini moon can multiply, Leo moon can manipulate heat and fire solar beams, etc. And the ascendant can determine your color scheme, physique, and secondary characteristics like hair and eyes.
