HP Hospital Fest 2026!

We are super happy to announce the first ever HP Hospital Fest!!

This fest is all about the characters working in a hospital! Wheter that's as a surgeon, nurse, anesthesiologist, or mortician.

Most of the fest will take place in 2026, but some things may start in 2025! The schedule will be posted soon though!

We hope you will be as excited as fest as we are! And if you have any suggestions for us, let us know! We are open to any and all suggestions.

Hello all! After some time collecting prompts from the community we are happy to make the list public!

Thank you to everyone who submitted, your creativity is boundless! Without further ado, the prompts are as follows:

The marauders are foreign exchange students. Gen or Wolfstar please

Luna travels (country of your choice) on assignment from the quibbler (part of the magic is journalism isn't dead). You could intersperse the action with blurbs from her writeups about local magical wildlife, customs, etc.

Harry went straight into the aurors after the war then quickly realised he wasn't cut out for it (too much trauma, ministry is corrupt, acab, all of the above) so he's slowly found his way to a career in the foundations of magic (wand making, magical theory, spell creation) and as part of this, he needs to experience how magic differs across cultures/geography. He goes to X Country and finds that Draco Malfoy is both his translator and surprisingly comfortable in beloved in X country in spite of the fact that harry knows him to be a xenophobic little shit. And then......love.

Lily gets a prestigious potions apprenticeship in another country. To her shock, James Potter is also an apprentice. Jily

Sirius a Magizoologist. Remus is a herbologist. They team up for a research project in the country of your choice. Wolfstar

After the death eater trials Harry goes to malfoy manor to return Draco’s wand but doesn’t find him there. All he finds is a clue to where Draco went. Harry then travels the world clue after clue searching for Draco. Draco knows Harry is following him and always leaves a clue with a gift. Until one day there is no clue because Draco is still there waiting for Harry.

The Marauders go on vacation to a magical resort. Jily and Wolfstar

After Andromeda and Ted elope, they flee to another country to escape the Black family

There’s a forest (in Japan) where Muggles vanish. Some say it’s haunted, others say it listens; the International Confederation of Magic says it’s magically inert. Really, it could be anything. So when a cluster of wandless magic spikes are detected in the forest, Harry and/or Hermione are sent to investigate. Only once they get there, they begin to lose track of why they came.

James is an archeologist studying ancient magical communities. Lily is a translator. Can reverse roles if you want. Jily

After the first war ends, Lucius Malfoy is not able to convince the ministry of his innocence. The family flees Britain

Dorcas and Marlene are professional quidditch players chosen to compete in the World Cup, taking place in the country of your choice. Dorlene

The map has no name for this desert. The locals won’t speak of it. Every night, its sand arranges itself into runes no one claims to have written and the wind itself is starting to whisper in Parseltongue. Lucky thing Draco’s learned to speak it.

With Harry on paternity leave, Hermione’s research trip is accompanied by a certain Mr. Malfoy instead.

The summer after 5th year, Harry goes with Luna on her expedition to Sweden to search for Crumple-Horned Snorkacks.

HPRP Fest V: A quick airtable guide!

Hello our lovely prickly pairs 🍐

Prompting is now closed OFFICIALLY. It's time to scroll through our whopping 450 prompts and claim a prompt!

But wait! you say. There's too many prompts, how will I choose?

Lucky for you, we've put together a brief guide for finding prompts in the Prompt Gallery. The prompts contain a lot of info and categories to make it easier for you to find exactly the prompt you want. Here are some methods for finding prompts :)

Searching: find prompts containing key words

Sorting: list the prompts in order based on a field

Filtering: restrict the prompts you see to meet specific criteria

These methods are available on desktop or using the desktop view on mobile.

Searching

The search function is located on the top right of the prompt gallery. It can be accessed by clicking on the magnifying glass or Cntrl+F/Cmd+F on your keyboard. Simply type your desired search term, and results including your term will be highlighted and easier to click through with the arrows.

Ex: Search for "omegaverse" with 36 results

Pros:

Quickly find results with specific search term.

List the number of results returned with the search.

Easy to use.

Cons:

Only search one phrase at a time.

Does not specify field for searching (ex: Omegaverse may appear in Dislikes but still show up in search).

All prompts still visible - lots of scrolling.

Sorting

The sort function is located on the top left of the prompt gallery. You can sort by any of the visible categories: title, ship, prompt, likes, dislikes, ship type, ship category, ship rarity, name, and claim status. It can be accessed by clicking on the Sort button from the main gallery. All prompts will still be visible in this view.

Text categories can be sorted alphabetically or reverse alphabetically. Multiple choice categories can be sorted in order or reverse order.

Ex 1: Sort prompt titles in reverse order (see newer prompts first).

Ex 2: Sort prompts by name in order (A to Z) AND by ship type in order (F/F, F/M, M/M, Poly, Other).

Pros:

Specify field for sorting, in order and reverse order.

Sort by more than one field at a time.

Fairly easy to use.

Cons:

Cannot narrow results within a field. No cutoff points.

All prompts still visible - lots of scrolling.

For multiple choice options, results are sorted by first option only (ex: For a prompt labelled F/M and M/M, prompt will be sorted with F/M only).

Filtering

The filter function is located on the top left of the prompt gallery. You can filter by any of the visible categories: title, ship, prompt, likes, dislikes, ship type, ship category, ship rarity, name, and claim status. It can be accessed by clicking on the Filter button from the main gallery. Prompts not matching the conditions will be excluded from view.

Ex 1: Filter for prompts that contain a Draco/Ron ship. This will also show results for Draco/Ron/Other.

Ex 2: Filter for prompts open to Explicit works that contain Neville.

Ex 3: Filter for prompts including the word "wedding" OR "marry".

Ex 4: Filter for Poly prompts with Lightning Era characters only.

Ex 5: Filter for Gen prompts with Marauders Era OR Riddle Era/Professors characters.

Ex 6: Filter to exclude all prompts with Grindelwald Era characters.

Ex 7: Filter for prompts with open characters (Any ship) that are Open for Fic (can still be claimed for fic).

Ex 8: Filter for prompts that contain Harry in a M/M Cross-Gen ship that do not include Fenrir, any rating, and are currently Open for Craft (anything other than fic).

Ex 9: Filter for all SUPER RARE SHIPS. We have three categories of super rare ships all based on the otp:true filter on AO3.

Maiden Voyage: no works exist yet. Launch the ship!

Pool Noodle: less than 100 otp:true works.

Life Raft: less than 1,000 otp:true works.

Pros:

Search multiple phrases at a time. Especially useful for searching specific ships.

Specify field for searching. Allows searching within each field to narrow results.

Restricts view to prompts that meet filtering criteria - less scrolling.

Cons:

More complicated to use, takes more deliberate input.

Condition groups (which we haven't mentioned) can be confusing.

Does not list the number of results returned by filtering.

Searching, Sorting, and Filtering can all be combined! Feel free to play around with all of the different features and categories on airtable.

The Sign-ups for the 2025 @hdowlpost Gift Giving Winter Fest are now open.

Step-by-Step Sign-up Instructions:

1) Please read the 2025 Rules and Fest Guide. With a few new Rules!

2) Choose one Owl of the four lovely Postal Owls in *THIS POST*. Grab the code from your chosen Owl. The form with the Wish List template can be found in each owl's code.

3) Fill out the template with the information for your own gift wishes as well as the kind of gifts you would like to create for the H/D Owlpost Winter Fest 2025.

4) Post your Wish List as a comment to this post on LiveJournal. If you do not have a LiveJournal account, please comment with OpenID. If for some other reason you cannot or won't post on LiveJournal, please send your sign-up to the mod account: hdowlpostmaster@gmail.com

5) We'll reply to every comment and email, and confirm your sign-up, but it may take us up to 24 hours. Please be patient.
