Saying it one last time (for now), the way squid game ended wasn't the problem. It's the fact that everything was rushed, characters acted ooc for the sake of the plot (and the cringiest scenes ever with the VIPs). There wasn't as many emotional moments as you'd think, given how many new characters were introduced. Gi hun sacrificing himself was probably the most in-character thing that happened, it was good. Everything else, uhhhh

Squid game season 2 is the best season because not only does it have toxic old man yaoi but it's also the only season without the fucking VIPs and I think that's something we should all recognize more and be grateful for

Nah that's ok
Is the public opinion of Squid Game s3 really more so negative then positive?
I just finished it, honestly I preffered s2 but I guess that was a given. Everyone prefers having atleast a little happiness over constant death and sadness.
If it's goal was to be heartbreaking, it suceeded in that pretty well, I have nothing bad to say about that aspect of the show.
Still, I want to adress the criticisms that I hear the most about s3.
"Player 149 chose a woman she met 4 days ago over her own son, that's out of character and not realistic!"
Before hide and seek began, it was that Geum-ja had been physically abused by her late husband. Geum-ja had to witness the sight of her son (who most likely resembles her deceased husband in some way) hold a knife over a young woman who was holding a baby. Lets connect the dots and figure out why Geum-ja's first insticnt in that situation had been to attack Yong-sik and protect Jun-hee.
"The ending was dissapointing and basically told the audience that there was no point in fighting against the system; Gi-hun's attempt at stopping the games ended up being pointless!"
The ending actually says the opposite, Gi-hun's death was a sacrifice. His last words mean so much to me. Gi-hun saw so much: from Il-nam and the frontman's betrayal, to Sang-woo and Jun-hee's sacrifices. He didn't finish his sentence because he didn't know how to! He didn't know what to think of humanity anymore, he never found HIS truth on what the true nature of man was :( But through his refusal of the frontman's offer, he chose to keep his humanity, even when surronded by people completley absorbed in their selfishness and greed. This IMO was the reason why so many of the finalists were backround O voters.
The baby being the winner symbolizes hope, innocence and the belief that one day we'll break out of the system through someone that will never have to go through the experiences that leave people with the idea of humans being inherently selfish (frontman reference)
"Myung-gi's character assisination came out of nowhere! He was implied to have genuinly cared about and loved Jun-hee in s2, him threatening to kill his own daughter was so out of character."
Possibly (?) unpopular view on his character, but Myung-gi deadass did not give two shits about that baby. I think that he did genuinly love Jun-hee, but it's clear that he was just straight up not a good person, the only times he seemed evem somewhat moral were all scenes revolving around Jun-hee. The theory of Myung-gi not giving a fuck about the baby is further proven right by him cannonicly having wanted Jun-hee to get an abortion and him never even attempting to get close to the baby before the final game. I think that if Jun-hee had lived he could've forced himself to play dad if it meant Jun-hee forgiving him and taking him back, but after her death the baby was basically a reminder of his failures and broken promises, and in his mind he had no real reason to pretend like he cared about it.
There are criticisms that I think are valid, mostly the ones surronding Dae-ho and the frontman, but this season is definetley not as bad as the fandom is making it out to be.

Notice how its the general audience/ less invested fans saying that the people upset with the season are stupid and didn't understand the ending.
no, we understand it.
what yall don't understand is why it was clearly done terribly. the show abandoned many storylines, almost every character was ooc, nothing was wrapped up or given a satisfying explanation/ending, and so much nonsense happened just to set up an ending that gave us a shitty pessimistic message.
and no it was not realistic. think about all the changes that had to be made just for it to happen. our theories and fanfictions were significantly better than this bullshittery.

And the one thing I continue to remain confused and angry about is why the cast—specifically lbh and hdh— felt the need to spin our expectations for s3? They kept implying that inho and gihuns dynamic would actively be one of the main aspects of the season, just look at what lbh said a while back; “is it love or is it friendship, you’ll find out in season 3.” What was that even for other than an obvious queerbait? Additionally, they kept hyping up the confrontation scene as if it was gonna be a deep but brief conversation, even though there was barely any dialogue. It was short and left something to be desired, especially when inho revealed himself.
#was it badly edited#did they run out of money#they had so many big name actors in s2 but they did not need all of them#worst finale ever
