it was surprisingly calming to have a day off and go eat by yourself to an amazing diner, that had been lee’s favorite for years. for many years he had gotten familiar with the fact that with his dad going out to eat was a luxury because of their financial situation, but after lee got his own job, it felt more like a weekly thing.
lee froze when he heard the girl speaking to her. to be honest, the last thing he thought he was was pictorial. “uhh sure” he mumbled as he saw the girl had already gotten the camera ready. he felt a little uncomfortable being in front of the camera, but quickly got the situation under his control when he stopped thinking about how people could be staring at him. but he got it. he loved filming videos himself so he could totally relate to the feeling of seeing a perfect shot in a situation.
It was a little bit odd, but Rose loved Rosie’s Retro Diner in the mornings. The hustle and bustle of the restaurant kept her busy as she watched the regulars, usually, the men who worked construction around town, goof off and laugh at each other all the while drinking their large cups of coffee. Their mornings always seemed so happy and put together to Rose and she loved eavesdropping on the customers whenever they gossiped. She looked down at her regular meal, blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon sitting on her plate. Her coffee, two sugars, one creamer, sat in the corner next to the syrup. She took a few bites of her pancakes and eggs before moving it to the side of the table as well. It was her day off from the amusement park and she was going to use it to get ahead in all of her summer classes.
As she took out her laptop and set in on the table, she heard the ring of the door signal someone walking in. When they walked past her, Rose took out her camera. The light was hitting their hair so perfectly and the moment seemed like the perfect time to take a picture. “Excuse me, sorry, the light is just hitting you really well from where you’re standing. Can you just hang out there for a second so I can get a picture? I’ll send it to you after I take it if you want,” She asked, taking her camera in her hands, waiting for the okay.

Logan didn’t even try not to act surprised. Her eyes bulged a bit, giving way to a quick nod. Not because the request was absurd, but, because she felt more people in this town steered clear (of her at least) more often than decided to sit down and talk. Or maybe she was so used to stuck up LA starlets and wannabes that it was the other way around. Either way, it was a welcome change.
“Oh—I—sure,” She nodded, moving her laptop in closer so he had room on the other side of the table, “I guess since this kinda is really the only coffee shop it fills up pretty fast, huh?”
lee set his coffee on the table an sat down besides the girl. the weird thing about him was that he love making new friends, and in general, he was really curious about people, but yet still there was some part of him that was too scared to act.
“yeah. i mean, tourists so..” lee nodded towards the two tables next to them. in the closer one sat a couple looking at a flyer of the history of the place. you could find them everywhere in this town. the tourists were for sure a part of the town that he had gotten used to, but especially in the summer, it got tiring when the places an streets filled up with people holding maps and wearing alien merch.
“i’m sorry, i’m lee” he turned his head back to the girl when he noticed that he hadn’t gotten to introduce himself. then his eyes rolled to the computer in front of her. lee wasn’t the type to snoop on other people’s things, but she had seemed so focused on whatever she was doing, that he felt like he needed to ask. “may i ask what you’re woking on? you seemed really focused on that thing”

lee had been waiting for his latte for a while. usually he stayed very “in the moment”, as you’d say, when he went outside. he thought that that was a way to minimize the possibilities of him embarrassing himself. yet somehow, this time he was too distracted scrolling through his twitter to even see that his order had been ready for a while now. he raised his head when he felt a tap on his shoulder.
he looked at the cup, and then returned his eyes to the man looking at him. “oh yeah, that's mine. it’s fine though.” lee smiled. he wanted to stay friendly as he was in no hurry, and knowing that this type of situation could’ve easily happened to him too. he couldn't even imagine what he would do, he would be probably too scared to talk because of his anxiety.
justin’s hands ran through his hair as he tried his best to wipe away the fear that was taking over his body. it was the first time he had gone out of his house in four days. something he could normally deal with, but for some reason the thought of walking further then he needed to was frightening on that day. yet there he was, in a random coffee shop in a new town where he hardly knew anybody. the young man took a deep breath in and picked up the first drink he spotted, not even noticing if it had his name on it or not - that was until he took a sip. turning back around to the nearest person, he tapped them on the shoulders gently, biting his lip before managing to get his words out. “is this your drink? i’m so sorry if it is, i didn’t notice until it was too late. i’ll buy you another one, though.”

Logan glanced up, surprise by the presence of another voice. She blinked, then noticed the keys in his hand, “Oh!” She gasped, “Yeah, shoot, they must’ve fallen out, wow.”
At home those keys would’ve been snatched up in a second. Bye-bye nice car, bye-bye house keys, rest in peace to that oversized pom-pom keychain that went out of style months ago but she couldn’t bear to get rid of. But here was different; People—for the most part—were genuinely kind. It was still a lot to get used to. Reaching out for the keys, she gave a smile, “Thank you.”
“you’re welcome” lee smiled. he was already ready to continue his mission to find an empty table to sit on, when he realized that there really was none. he felt like his social anxiety was shouting him to just drop his order and instead go home for a coffee. he looked at the woman again. she seemed nice enough.
“actually, could i sit here? it’s kind of....full everywhere” he waved his hand at the full cafe, realizing later that it was stupid since the girl sitting on the table probably had noticed already that it was full. he hated himself from always overthinking everything he said and did. he signed as he took a sip of the coffee that was almost burning his tongue.

His pace was probably a little too quick, but some local had told him to hurry, because the man who took tourists to the abandoned crash site usually left around that time, and Noel was desperate to go, having been unsuccessful with all his prior attempts to breaking into the abandoned base. He probably should’ve been looking at where he was going and not his phone, probably should’ve been walking like a normal person, but he was doing neither which lead him to run into another person, nearly dropping his phone as he tried to steady himself, “Woah, no it’s cool dude that’s totally on me,” He laughed as he turned to him, spotting the camera in his hand and flashing a smile, “Now that’s an oldie, making some home videos?” He teased playfully, admiring the video camera in the other’s hands, “What’re you doing? Making a documentary?”
lee giggled as the man asked if he was filming home videos. wasn’t too far off though. it wasn’t the first time people had assumed that because of his old camera. one of his friends ha even offered to buy him a new one for his birthday, but he had refused; he just felt like the look the camera gave to the videos fitted the aesthetic of moon valley perfectly. it was just the touch his films- with the retro stores and aliens splattered over the city -needed.
“oh no, well, kinda. i wouldn’t call it a documentary though, i think i’m not that good with this stuff yet. i’m just trying to film a video of the people here. i post them on my website, it seems like the tourists like them so...that’s good enough” lee muttered. “you don’t look like a local. heading to the crashing site?” he forced himself to have a little conversation with the man, since he hadn’t talked to barely anyone the whole day. in moon valley it was easy to spot the people living here from the tourists. he didn’t know how he did it, but he had gotten good at it the past years he had spent here.

it was rare that ferris pay attention to the people around her when she went about her everyday life. she was a lot more in tune to wildlife and nature, more likely to notice a change in wind direction or an ant searching for crumbs that another person trying to catch her attention. the fact that she hadn’t seen the other until they had already collided definitely didn’t come as a surprise to her, though it did send her stumbling back a couple of steps. luckily she managed to keep her balance and she lifted her gaze to meet his with a little smile. “ it’s my fault, i wasn’t paying attention, ” she assured him with a soft tone, offering an even softer smile. almost immediately, chocolate hues dropped to the video camera in his grip and she cocked her head slightly. “ oh—i’m sorry, did i ruin your filming ?? ”
lee smiled as the girl took the accident as her fault. he was so clumsy that he was really used to people acting rude an shouting while being busy. it was understandable, but lee didn't find it relatable at all. he did not really know how to be busy. that may have been the reason why he was often late for everything.
lee looked at his camera and lifted it a bit to see if it was still filming. “ no no, you didn’t. i think i ruined it myself. i’m trying to do a film about the people here but it isn’t going too great at the moment” he explained and looked at the red-haired girl standing in front of him. now or never, he thought. “actually....do you live here?

lee had stopped on his way to home from work to text his dad. it had been such a long time he had visited him in moon valley, which was weird, considering that a few years ago lee had still lived with his dad here. the boy let out a smile as his dad was telling his dumb jokes while texting. he turned around when he felt someone approaching him, making him jump a little, since he had been in his own thoughts for so long.
“oh don’t worry. that happens to me more often that you’d think” lee smiled to the girl after he got the confusion off of him. he actually thought that the girl looked a bit familiar too. maybe he ha seen her a few times, since it was really easy to recognize the people who lived here from tourists. “maybe i’ve seen you actually....have you visited the record store? because i work there”
Legs gracefully moved across the sidewalk as red, golden locks danced behind the female, following her every step. She was set on getting home with no distractions or daydreams until something caught her eye. Something that peaked Olivia’s curiosity. Olivia wasn’t one to normally go out of her way to talk to strangers but the person that had unknowingly brushed past her looked too familiar to ignore. Who even was that? Turning around on the heels of her feet, she marched back to the retreating figure, hesitantly reaching out before she grabbed their shoulder lightly. Stepping back as they turned around, Olivia apologized under her breath, a sudden feeling of regret that began to infiltrate her body, pulling her away from the confidence she had randomly consumed. Ignoring the blood gathering to her cheeks, she tried her best to speak without anything coming out in anxious rambles.
“S-Sorry! I just thought… you looked familiar–
But nevermind”

lee had become more comfortable with the idea of having a cup of coffee and a snack all by himself sometimes. he used to only go out with his friends, since he felt like he was more comfortable when around people who were saving him from embarrassing himself in the public while deciding what kind of muffin to order for ten minutes. lee thought that the save choice would be what he always took; a coffee with milk and a doughnut. he paid with a bunch of crumbled up dollar bills from his pocket.
when he was looking for a place to sit, he saw an open bag and car keys on the floor. the girl sitting on the table seemed so focused on her work that she hadn’t even noticed. “i’m so sorry... - “ lee lifted the keys up from the floor. “- ...but are these yours?”
Logan was typing away on her macbook, the musicality of her acrylic nails against the keys echoing from the table in the center of the café. It was her usual blogging spot, where the sun hit the counter just right in the early afternoon and she could see out of the big windows into the sprawling, red desert beyond the building. The coffee was subpar, its dark contents sitting stagnant in its cup beside her. She missed getting her usual venti coconutmilk mocha macchiato from Starbucks every morning. But, this was her only option, so crumbly muffins and sour coffee would have to suffice.
Her lips pursed together in thought, the clacking of her keyboard coming to a halt. Finding the right words was always hard, especially when you’ve been telling the world you’ve been living in ‘Las Vegas’ for ‘work’ instead of running away to the middle of nowhere for no reason at all. Covering it up with some new shoes seemed to be a nice alibi for today.
With her mind so focused on her work, she didn’t even notice absentmindedly knocking over the purse at her feet, car keys tumbling out onto the dark wood floors.

“Watch it—!” Sloane barked back at the boy who did nothing but apologize for his actions. She had been heading home from work, getting off the early morning shift and was tired and not looking to deal with anymore of anyone’s bullshit. She sighed hard and assessed herself slouching the satchel she was carrying higher on her slim shoulder. “It’s fine,” She claimed, tilting her chin upwards. “We all make mistakes… some more than others,” She pointed out and then hooked her hand on her hip. “We’re you just filming me a second ago?” Sloane questioned, pointing at his old camera as casually as she could. “Because I walked by and it really seemed like you were. Isn’t that, like, an invasion of privacy?”
lee felt genuinely bad of bumping into the woman, because she seemed to tire and honestly a little pissed off by what had happened. lee had the urge to shower her with apologies, but he had tried to get rid of that habit of his, since it often tended to annoy people more than help. “oh no no i wasn’t! sorry. i was just trying to capture the big picture of the people walking by..” he thought for a while if he should go on a rant about how it was just for his small own project, and how he didn’t want to offend her, but he stayed quiet. “...it actually isn’t cause it’s a public space....but i can of course delete the footage if you’d like” he muttered under his breath.

lee puckered his lips as he was looking at the old video camera that purred in his hands. his project of filming the people of moon valley had proved to be harder than he thought at first. it had seemed a good idea in his mind, but considering how his least favorite thing in the world was approaching strangers, he was now stuck in the middle of a sidewalk filming people walking past him.
he kept taking his eyes off the camera, trying to figure out a good angle. he was a little perfectionist. the little things made often a huge difference. he finally settled with the thought that the road would look much better when filmed from the other direction, so he turned, and without watching bumped into someone walking by.
“oh i’m so sorry!” the apology came as a reflex. he didn't really have the time to who’d fault it was.

( maria | 18 | she/her | gmt +3 ) maria here again. decided to bring my bb lee to moon valley because it’s been a while i rp’d with him, and i LOVE him! so basically, i play lee and eli (@elihvyden). i made a completely separate blog for lee bc i can’t deal with side blogs myself so i’m just gonna be hopping between these two. feel free to dm me on either one of my blogs if you want to plot with either of my muses!
holy shit! did you see that? oh wait, that’s just lee carter, the local troye sivan lookalike. apparently, he's been in moon valley for 21 whole years ! they’re very friendly, but also pretty oversensitive, which is why: plants, white bedsheets, pastel pink sunsets, cherries and looking at clouds describes their vibe effortlessly. i wonder what this twenty-one year old hopes to discover in good ol’ moon valley.
no tw <3
the full name is lee noah carter. he’s 21 years old and has been living in moon valley basically his whole life: he grew up with his dad, and they had a great relationship. in his family it went kinda the other way around it usually does: lee didn’t move out, but his dad did. three years ago his dad got a job from another town, and lee decided to stay at moon valley, because he had a job and his friends here.
lee works at the silent sounds record store! it’s kinda funny how he even got there, because before he started working there, he knew nothing about vinyl. now you would call him an expert though, he’s totally hooked on them.
lee is gay af. at school, lee was often teased about his sexuality, and as an result, he became really inward. to this day, he still has a hard time opening up to people.
outwards lee is a little bit shy. he loves talking to people, and when he gets the conversation going, he has no problem. it's just the starting that's usually hard. lee is a really emotional person, and tends to overthink every little thing, often resulting him to cry over the smallest of things. he’s such a crybaby and easily manipulatable pls save him
his biggest fear is that people would forget about him if he wouldn't keep up with his relationships. he develops crushes really easily, but it's hard for him to speak about his feelings.
this boy loves the nature, and all things pretty. one of his favourite things to do is just to be outside and look at the flowers/watch the sunset. he really tries to appreciate the small good things in life. he literally doesn’t have any “real” hobbies besides of daydreaming and making flower crowns maybe?? OH and also filmography. he makes these short cute artsy videos.
lee doesn't really get drunk or smoke, but often will not turn down a beer when offered. he considers himself kinda a social drinker/smoker, so you will see him with a cigarette in his mouth only if he's around people that smoke.
