On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the “Link Tax” and the “Censorship Machines” articles.

Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you won’t be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because it’s all copyrighted material. And you won’t also be able to share, enjoy or download other’s contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.

But not everything’s lost yet. There’s another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.

What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.

Article 13 #CensorshipMachine, and Net Neutrality being under attack again.

Article 13 is BAD, folks. It seeks to tear apart the internet as we know it, just as those in the United States fear will happen with the retraction of Net Neutrality.

Do you like YouTube, AO3, Tumblr, Twitter, or art, writing and memes that are related to your personal interests in show, internet content, movies, bands etc? WELL, WAKE UP BECAUSE SOON THAT’S ALL GOING TO GO AWAY IF THOSE IN AND OUT OF EUROPE DO NOT TAKE A STAND. Creativity through the internet is in jeopardy, and we cannot sit around.

Contact your MEPs, speak up for what is right and what you believe in. The internet and how we use it is vital in this day and age. Do not let that right be taken away from you. Do not let them sector creativity and freedom.

To partake in the fight to save Net Neutrality, call your local congressperson(s) and let them know why it is so important.

Net Neutrality: VERY GOOD AFFECTS THE UNITED STATES FOR NOW, BUT WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE THEY WILL GET MONEY HUNGRY FOR IF THIS DIES

Article 13 #CensorshipMachine: QUITE BAD AFFECTS DIRECTLY EUROPE FOR NOW, BUT THIS WILL LEAK INTO OTHER AREAS OBVIOUSLY

Without Net Neutrality, you will be legally charged to pay for your internet in an elimination way (i.e. “I need Google, but I want Tumblr this month too, so I guess no Twitter, Instagram or Reddit for me for the next while…”)

With Article 13 passing, it will be illegal for fanart, fanfiction, memes to be posted on the internet due to “copyright infringement laws.” ALL OF THIS WILL BE BANNED FOLKS. NO MORE FOR ANYONE.

In conclusion: I hope we all stand up to fight for freedom on the internet, and do not ignore the glaring issues as those higher up wish we would. Freedom for all on the internet is a right, not a privilege.

I’m sure you’re sick of seeing this, but we are in the final stages of the Net Neutrality repeal. I know long posts about this can be overwhelming, so at least just pick a bullet point and do it! HOPE IS NOT LOST YET. 

WE STILL HAVE ONE LAST CHANCE — Until April 27th

There’s a CRA (Congressional Review Act) vote to get Net Neutrality back, and it may still win. THIS IS BECAUSE OF US!!! Enough people in congress listened to our calls, emails, and tweets, so a CRA has been called for to try and stop Ajit Pai. 

Long posts about this can be overwhelming, so I’ll keep it simple and just list some quick and easy options below for how you can help save it. WE’VE ALREADY MADE PROGRESS, KEEP GOING! WE’RE SO CLOSE! I’m lucky enough to have the ability to do these, so I’m doing all of them, even though it’s hard for me. Do it for the people who can’t. Do it for those who will LOSE THEIR JOBS or their educations or their friends or their support. Do it for the kids too young to use a phone. Do it for the families who might be put out of homes. Do it for everyone.

WE NEED ONE MORE SENATE VOTE. DO AT LEAST ONE OF THESE 5 THINGS IF YOU’RE PHYSICALLY CAPABLE

Call the Capitol at 202-224-3121. Just say where you’re from and they’ll transfer you to your senator’s office. Here’s a template for what to say: 

“Hello, I’m [name], and I’m a constituent of Senator [name]. I’m calling to urge them to vote in support of net neutrality, as it is very important to the general public. I am watching their actions on net neutrality, and it will influence my vote in coming years. Thank you!”

(This also works as a great template for tweets/emails to your Senators)

Hello hello, sorry to bother you! I had a lil question concerning your sunstone comics. First of all, I totally loved the comics! I bought the first two books at a book convention and I later read the rest online. (planning on buying the copies asap) I was wondering if you still draw and write more things about Lisa and Ally? Cause, tbh, that story is addictive as hell! Second, I was wondering if you knew this, the hard cover editions, is it like the regular editions? Like one book. Or does the

hardcovers are simply compilations of previous work, if you purchased the softcovers you aren’t missing anything

first hardcover compiles sunstone 1-3 second one is 4-5

and yes there is more to the story :)

Thoughts and Opinions: After Hours Vol. 1

So unsurprisingly there was a lot of books that didn’t make it onto the recommended reading list for 2017. Many stories ended up being left out due to them being ongoing series, stories I read but didn’t care for, or there just weren’t enough volumes released for me to get a feel for the series. As such I figured I would try something new. This will be the first in a series of posts in which I will give my thoughts a series I am currently reading. My hope is that doing so will help motivate me into doing more posts as well as give the opportunity to go into detail about the issues I have with some series. I will do my best to avoid spoilers though some stories will require me to go into more detail than others.

After Hours is a yuri manga written and drawn by Yuhta Nishio and published by Viz Media. The story follows a woman named Emi Ashiana who has been dragged to a night club by a friend that soon ditches her. While trying to find her she is hit on by some random guy only to be saved by Kei the DJ for the club and one the hosts for the evenings party. After following Kei back to her apartment the two end up spending the night together. Soon afterwards Kei begins to introduce Emi to music and the world of club performances, eventually Emi ends up joining Kei’s circle of friends and even helping them with performances.

As stated in a previous post this is one of the stories that marks Viz Media’s entry into the yuri fandom. Overall the story is decent. The vast majority of this volume is about Emi and her introduction into Kei’s world and the world of music. It does on alright job of introducing the characters and building the world around  them. The interaction between Emi and Kei is decent though the romance between the two is a bit lacking. The art work, while nothing special, is passable with the author going for a more mature take on typical moe designs. Honestly this really reminds of a manga called Octave (I recommend it.) that I read a few years ago in which a former idol ends up having a one night stand with a musician. One of the things I like about this story is how the romance is handled. A lot of the yuri genre revolves around young love and a lot of they time they end up keeping their feelings from each other. That is not the case with this one as both Emi and Kei are quite accepting of each other though the relationship comes off as more of a ‘friends with benefits’ type deal. As stated before the romance between the two is barely touched on aside from the one night stand and a few other moments but the characters and story are still being worked on so that is a minor complaint. I like how it explains some of the concepts off the club performance scene though as I am not apart of that scene I have no idea if it is accurate. This in my opinion is a decent start for the series and while it’s too early to tell if the story will really grab me I am interested to see how it will continue to develop. If you can find it for cheap give it a shot as there is much worse out there.

As of the time of this post only the first volume is available for purchase with no release date stated for volume 2.
