Dark Souls
I had to get here eventually. I’ve been pretty obsessed with the Dark Souls series for a few months now, and after finally beating them all i’m ready to give a review.
Git Gud
I’m joking of course but seriously, Dark Souls, while not quite as difficult as people make it out to be is still a very challenging series that requires focus, timing, and most importantly patience. There is no difficulty setting and there is no hand holding, it’s no exaggeration when i say that you will die many, many, many times in this game.
So what keeps people coming back to such a challenging title, well in my experience what kept me coming back was that the game never made it feel hopeless. No matter how challenging the boss it always felt like i was learning something new with each death, be it a new move to watch out for, or a new opening to exploit, nothing felt impossible to beat. The controls feel good and easy to use, the camera can sometimes be your greatest foe, and there’s such a great many ways to build your character that you can always get a new experience whenever you start a new game.
In conclusion, would i recommend this game? The first one yes most definitely, there are so many great things the first game has to offer. The second one is miss-able, it’s not a bad game mind you, it’s just very off kilter when compared to the other two, and it barely ever manages to tie in to the story from the first game if you care about that. The third game is another resounding yes, it goes right back to its roots and brings so much to the table in terms of gameplay as well as managing to branch the story from the first game. Dark Souls is a very beloved series, and a must have for anyone who thinks they’ve the mettle to beat it.

Hello Fellow Gamerz
I’m sure you don’t think about this much, typically many gamers would prefer to care about graphics or gameplay rather than how story impacts games at all. That explains the large popularity of repetetive games like the Call of Duty franchise or the Battlefield ones, typially games that focus on multiplayer fps’ with no mind to anything else; if it sells no need to change the forumla after all. Still, I stand by my statement that games can be story focused, and should be story focused. The medium is so unique and with ultimate posibilities that not crafting a well story with it is a crime. There is one game that spurred this feeling in me the most out of any game I’ve ever played, this being the first game that really insipred my journey to focus on writing as a whole. An underappreciated gem of a game: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky.
The Mystery Dungeon series has always been more of a cult hit rather than famous around the globe, however those who have played it all share the same sentiments: it is simply fantastic. The gameplay is a bit odd to wrap your head around at first, and the game typically starts off slow but as the game progresses the character development between all characters in an expertly woven story all begin to connect and make sense. Each character is lovable and memorable, and the sense of community is present throughout, especially between the bonds between you and your partner from the first minute of the game, to the last heart wrenching second. I’ve played through this game many times, each one a journey that always leaves me satisfied. If I could experience the feeling of the first time I played through the game, I would do so in a heartbeat. If you are a true fan of Pokemon then this game is a must have. It may be ten years old, but it most certainly stands the test of time.

Tekken series
This one sits pretty close to my heart as Tekken was the first fighting game I had ever played and one of my first video games in general. Just to get this out of the way, yes I am a bit biased towards this series as opposed to other 3d fighters, however my bias does not change the fact that when compared to other recent fighting games of this specific genre (street fighter, mortal kombat, etc) Tekken comes out on top in all categories.
I could sit here all day and tell you how Tekken is better than any other 3d fighter but that would just sound like my bias talking, so i’ll tell you about what the games have to offer instead. Tekken features a wide roster of colorful and unique characters, each with their own fighting style so that no two characters feel the same whether you’re using them or fighting them. An interesting thing that the Tekken series does that so few of its peers do, is that most of the characters in the game actually use real established fighting styles that you can go out and learn for yourself, and only very recently has Tekken started making characters that have projectiles in their move set, and even then the projectile moves are nearly pointless to use because they can be side stepped, so you don’t have to worry too much about ridiculously spammable projectile moves (looking at you street fighter).
Another great thing about the Tekken series is the characters themselves. In a fighting game you need really good character designs because with how the genre works, a character doesn’t get many opportunities to build a personality, so the personality needs to come out through the design of the character themselves rather than story telling which is something that Bandai Namco has been very good at for a number of years.
I better conclude this before I start rambling about every little thing in the game. So would i recommend this, i think the answer is obvious. The only demerit i could possibly come up with regarding this series is that the story is kinda confusing, (especially in recent years) and i’m a little bit worried about what they’re planning to do with the series, what with all the guest characters in the newest game. Overall if you want a good fighting game this is definitely a series to look for.

Red Dead Redemption
Alright i was hoping to avoid talking about multiple games from the same studio, but Rockstar really struck gold with this one. I don’t think anyone at Rockstar expected this game to be such a success, but with so few western styled games and even fewer that have been successful, i think it’s a reasonable worry.
In Read Read Redemption you play as former outlaw John Marston who only wants what’s best for his family, but because of his past criminal activities, he is being forced to do the governments dirty work in exchange for his family’s safety. This game takes place in the american south west just along the border of northern mexico where the local government is struggling to keep the country from descending into anarchy.
The overall gameplay is commendable, a comfortable control scheme, a well designed user interface, solid game physics, smart AI, and most importantly good writing. If I had one gripe about the game it would be that they didn’t implement the ability to swim, so everyone in the game basically never learned to swim and all the lakes and rivers can just be treated as death pits.
In conclusion, would i recommend this game, yes i would. In fact i would even recommend buying all of the dlc as well. The dlc for this game was surprisingly very worth buying, cowboys vs zombies was a great concept for the undead nightmare dlc and it was executed wonderfully. Red Dead Redemption is a phenomenal title that definitely deserves the praise it receives.

Alright gamerz another game is coming out next year in 2018 is The Last of Us 2. No timetables date for the game in 2018 just that it will be in 2018. It is a sequel to The Last of Us which is a famous game in the gaming community. The developer of The Last of Us is Naughty Dog. It will take place five years later then the first. The last game was release in June 2013. Over 5 years since the last one.
The Last of Us 2 should come out sometime in 2018 with no date to it yet. We don’t know much of this game and it should be like the first is and much better than the first. It is a post-apocalyptic world of the United States. So far right now it will only have single player mode. Once we get close to the date they will probably add multiplayer to it like the last one did. It will also be played the only the PS4 and not the Xbox or PC.
Like I said before we don’t know anything about the game yet. We are still far from it whatever date they decide to. Most likely middle to late 2018 will be the date. It will have some or most what the first game had into the new game. Add new traits to the game. The only thing we know is the game will follow two characters and add four new characters. You will play as the girl in the story mode.
To conclude the way first game is should be exciting before and after it goes on sale. We just going to have to wait for the date and for the game and what they will at to it.

The makers of Call of Duty have announced its new cod game for 2018. It will be another Black Ops game and it will be the fourth. Treyarch who makes the Black Ops series is going to release it. After cod went back to its root in Call of Duty: WW2 back in November of 2017. This one will be different than the other Black Ops games. It will be sort of modern times a little more in the future.
The new Black Ops game to come out in November of 2018 will be the next installment of the game. We don’t know anything about the new game that just we know it be in sort of past modern times. Probably slightly after Modern Warfare series and not the futuristic game we been getting. Not a lot of people like the sprinting on the walls, the robots, and more. It mostly likely to be played on the Xbox, PS4, and PC. Like always it will have single player, multiplayer, and zombies. This one is first person point of view and not third or second. I didn’t enjoy those things I mention but I still played it.
Like I said we don’t have anything on the game because we are like 11 months before and they don’t release anything in till the date to know. As we get closer we will have learned more about it and that do a better review once we get the info on it.
Will to conclude this, we still very early to tell if it will be great and if the sales will go through the roof. But that won’t stop us from buying the game. Call of Duty will keep on creating games either you like it or not. After seeing they are losing money then will care.

The next of the few or more games coming out next year in 2018 that a lot of people really wants to play is Red Dead Redemption 2. The game was supposed to be release in the second half of 2017 but change it to 2018. It has been ten years since the last Red Dead was release to us. It is created by Rockstar studios who also created the famous game Grand Theft Auto 5.
Red Dead Redemption 2 just like the first is set in the western themed action, adventure, and it’s an open world game just like the other two games. Red Dead will be on the Xbox and PS4 only by Rockstar. It will have single player and multiplayer mode for it. You will have one character to follow in the story mode to play. It will be third person point of view when you play the game. I like playing games in third person like GTA 5. It will probably have the some of the traits of the first game but much better and something new to it.
Not much of information is out but if you like at the trailers they have you can see what will be in the game. The game will have exclusives PS4. Probably will have option on how to complete things. Can pick what mission to do first. I hope they make a zombie version of the game just like they did with the first Red Dead game.
To conclude this, the game looks fun to play like the first game was. Having it delay into spring 2018 you want to play it now. But they want the game to be perfect for us. I like the game and who others will to.

Hello Fellow Gamerz
To make up for the rather dreary game I selected for the last Story Retrospect, I’ll be taking a look at a remake today. Typically remakes have bad reputations in shows, movies, and especially games. Many see them as cheap knockoffs of the original, corporations trying to make more money off a more successful product back in its prime, however Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadow of Valentia does more than any remake I can currently think of. For starters, it’s actually very good, and widely considered one of the best in the Fire Emblem series so far. Fire Emblem Echoes gets it’s cherished reputation for how faithful it is to the original. Each map is directly from the main game back on the NES decades ago with new music, updated characters, and updated gameplay that still is similar enough to the original to not be foreign to long time fans.
However this is a Story Retrospect, and not a game review, we’re here to get our story on. While the game is a remake, the developers took a few creative liberties when creating the story by adding new villains, which in the end turned out exceptionally well. Berkut and Fernand bring a more centralized and reachable villain to fight against, two of which have excellent motivations and backstories to match their personalities. They are developed exceptionally well throughout the story, making you feel genuine annoyance, hatred, or even pity towards them as you learn about their pasts and battle with them whenever they appear. If you are a fan of Fire Emblem or strategy games in general, this game is a perfect choice for either, one I highly recommend playing.

Hello Fellow Gamerz
Today I propose a question: what do games make you feel? Most could argue that it brings a sense of fulfillment or enjoyment when playing their games, depending on which game they play as well. More aggressive shooters may feel the rush of adrenaline and have a sense of joy from the destruction they can cause on the virtual world they inhabit. Some can argue that they feel the emotional rush of fear that horror games bring. Some satisfaction from solving difficult puzzles found in strategy games. Today’s Story Retrospect will focus on a very special game that makes you feel dread, guilt, and perhaps even pain: Spec Ops: The Line.
Under the guise of a typical generic third-person army shooter, Spec Ops: The Line is an outstanding, underrated gem that masterfully executes its story throughout the progression of the game. The game takes the concept of war, and how many shooters these days desensitize many audiences through its casual interpretation of war and death. Spec Ops makes every death meaningful, every innocent soul that you end will grate on your mind and the main characters mind until he ultimately goes mad from the experience as a whole. While classified as a shooter, the feelings and emotions felt are more akin to horror games. I won’t spoil too much as to ruin any surprise you can get, but if you truly want a unique and flavorful experience playing a game, I highly recommend taking a look at Spec Ops: The Line.

Hello Fellow Gamerz
As stated in my earlier Story Retrospect, one thing that many games in today’s market fail to recognize is the importance of character and their development throughout the game itself. There is an age old question that many reviewers ask: are video games art? Art takes many forms, such as paintings and sculptures, though the definition can extend to more such as music or literature. Video games are a form of interactive literature that offers a more immersive experience than movies or TV. This is why I say that video games need to put care into their stories, otherwise it would simply be as good as a low rate movie.
A cult classic that does an exceptional job at this is Psychonauts, a game more than a decade old yet still holds a solid reputation among fans and gamers themselves. The game itself is wacky and fun. Considering the game revolves around talented psychics training at a summer camp to treat the insane is already a fun idea in its own. The environment and atmosphere are what make this game unique and popular among players, and the constant slew of interesting characters from the main protagonist Razputin to Fred Bonaparte, the lost relative to Napoleon and Dr. Caligosto Loboto, the brain stealing dentist. Even the levels take note and symbolize those who the levels are represented by. For a game that does an excellent job of characterization, Psychonauts is an excellent choice that had recently come out on Steam if you want to take a look.

Hello Fellow Gamerz
Unlike the other reviewers on this site, I’ll be taking a look back on games that do what games don’t these days: provide a decent story with decent characters. Not the same generic hero soldier or space marine that plagues all modern games, actual characters with development and depth, stories that change the course of the game itself through memorable events and story writing that left people wanting more and invested in the game rather than the gameplay taking center stage while everything else is left to rot in the corner.
In today’s Story Retrospect, we’ll focus on something simple that anyone who is an avid gamer knows about: Half Life, more specifically Half Life 2. While the trope of silent protagonists is very much overdone, this game executed it well with the immersive-ness of its environments and lack of cutscenes to wrench us away from the story. Players are inclined to use their own thinking and wit to complete levels, no real instruction given save for opportunities where new ideas would be thrown out, and the story of evil scientists collaborating with an extra-dimensional tyrannical race is enough to want to keep you invested throughout the entire game. It’s satisfying, interesting, and holds a very esteemed place in the history of gaming itself for these well deserved reasons.

Well gamers another zombie game is also coming out next year in 2018 and its called State of Decay 2 and it’s a sequel to State of Decay and its created by Undead Labs. It does not have date when in spring 2018 it will be release to the public.
I guess developers don’t care that zombie games are not that popular with today’s gamers but who cares doe we still play it. State of Decay 2 is for Xbox and PC only it’s an open world game that has third person point of view. It will also be single player and cooperative multiplayer game to let you play with other players. It will be the first time they will have coop in the game. It will take place in a zombie apocalypse world. Where the enemy is the infected people that are zombies. I still like games that has zombies in it.
Not much of the information for this game is out but it mostly to be sort of the same as the first one is the open world. The first State of Decay has some playable characters to play as. The second game will also have playable characters. You get to set up a base with people in the game to call home for now. With what we know about it I would get it seems fun and can keep you playing it for a while.
To end this, I would recommend this game to y’all to get when in spring 2018 it comes out. People with a PC and an Xbox could only get it. The game has the potential to be a great hit when release.

Alright gamers if you are looking for some zombie game(s) you in luck cause next year in 2018 a new zombie game called Days Gone created by SIE Bend Studio. It does not have date when in early 2018 it will be release to the public.
With zombie’s games, basically not that popular anymore the creators of the Days Gone is still putting out the zombie game. Even doe the genre not that hot with gamers. Days Gone is PS4-exclusive open world post-apocalypse world set two years later and the enemy in this game are not really undead. They are infected humans that just wants to kill you and that’s it. They are not the only enemy in the game there are other humans too also will try to kill you.
It has a main character that you follow in the story and it’s a third-person point of view type of game. The game has a weather system and day-night cycle. That effects the freakers movement and can make them weak when its rains. Also, can change them on how they act during the day and night cycle. The player has many ways to complete the objectives like using stealth and shooting at things. Oh, you can craft things to help you out. Games that are like that I like and as some gamers do. That you have an option to make and how to complete things. Gives the players some freedom.
To conclude I recommended this game to people who wants to play zombie games or just want to play a new game they find interesting to play. If I had an PS4 I would buy this game when its been release to the public to play.

Oh boy, get ready for a spicy review.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
So I guess i’ll begin with my analogy that this game is like a stack of gold bricks balanced ever so carefully on a twig. The content was definitely worth the purchase, but the game was riddled with bugs on launch as are all bethesda games.
In Skyrim you get to play as some poor schmuck who was lost in the woods and got arrested by a group of skirt wearing land thieves and sentenced to death along with the only slightly racist leader of the local rebel faction. After being accidentally rescued by the final boss you get to escape with either of what may be the only decent person in the entirety of the imperial legion or a cool viking dude-bro. Now you are finally left to get lost and eventually arrested again in the lands of Skyrim.
Skyrims charm doesn’t come from the “engaging” story or the “interesting” characters, Skyrims charm comes from the level of freedom that they give the player. There’s a lot to do in this game and many ways to do it, but with enough content to keep a player busy for days or even weeks you’re probably wondering if I have anything left to complain about, well boy do I. Unfortunately this game suffers the issue of having so much to offer that the player can get lost in content and get frustrated when that stream of content ends. So what happens when that content ends, does the player just start a new character, no probably not, we’ve seen that content before and we want something new. Luckily Skyrim has a very active modding community so at least the players on PC can expect to keep that steady stream of content for a good long time, but what about everyone else. Yes modding has become available for Skyrim on most major consoles, but on console mods are restricted to what the console company deems appropriate, which severely limits content flow.
Overall would I recommend this game. eh yeah but only on PC, and not because of the PC master race but simply that on console this game is good but on PC this game really shines thanks to the modding community. I also cant bring myself to support the constant re-releases of Skyrim on new consoles rather than releasing an actual new game.

Oh boy our first review gets to be on a totally still relevant and not completely repetitive series. All sarcasm aside the game was quite enjoyable despite its faults and the overly aggressive online community.
So lets get this train wreck started, no really can I hijack trains and crash them like we did in the previous title San Andreas, okay I guess not but that’s fine the rest of the game will hold up to my less than lofty expectations right.
In Grand Theft Auto V you get to enjoy the same repetitive naughty boy shoot bang antics that the previous titles employed, but this time it’s actually pretty fun and the controls don’t fight you every step of the way. The driving physics in this title is far superior to that of it’s predecessor where every car handled like a boat, despite the more streamlined physics however players still drive like a 3 year old playing with Hotwheels.
The story of GTA V follows three main characters: Hollywood crime dad, totally not CJ, and the angriest Canadian. While having three playable main characters would usually result in lack of focus and poor character development, the writers did a good enough job to dodge that bullet. Through the game you get to see these characters grow and change for better or worse and ultimately realize that there friendship is more important than the money they steal, though not by much.
The online mode of GTA V was just one headache after the other. Online functions took so long to come out that you could’ve completed the story mode at least four times, and when we did finally get the online mode, you couldn’t play for more than maybe 30 minutes before the game crashed due to a server error. It took a few months before we finally got a stable online experience, and a few more for the dev’s to crack down on hackers, but now we have the full GTA Online experience, complete with players that shoot first and shoot again later, whiny 8 year olds with clearly no parental supervision, buckets of repetitive shoot bang missions to enjoy with your new “friends”, more cars, clothes and guns than any one player can afford, and the scum that is micro-transactions.
Seriously though despite all the complaints, we still end up coming back to this game for one simple reason, the mindless, repetitive, shoot-bang, fast car, violent, stealy wheely automobiley game play is an entertaining outlet for the stress of the day.
So in conclusion would I recommend this game, yeah sure, the gameplay is still pretty solid and the story is enjoyable enough for multiple playthroughs, you may want to get some friends together if you plan on going online unless you plan on only making enough money to pay your medical bill when other players kill you. Definitely get this when it goes on sale though if you want it on PC, because it’s somehow still full price on steam.
