You know the one glitch in Blind Betrayal where Danse is wearing like… 0 clothes the whole time? And everyone makes fun of it and says it ruins the mood and all that?

Honestly, I love that glitch. Not because it’s funny or anything else, but because you can shove a bunch of headcanons and symbolism into it and it still works.

First of all, the headcanons. I could totally see Danse completely getting rid of whatever he had on him that had anything to do with the Brotherhood of Steel, for reasons of shame, and reasons of paranoia. He’s ashamed, part of him just wants to curl up and die, and godammit he can’t stand to look at that uniform anymore. Does he even deserve to wear it, for being what he is? The answer may just be no, and he shoves it in an old metal container in the bunker hoping to just forget about it. But he can’t. He never will.

And, alternatively; after finding out he’s a Synth, after everything else, he still fears death. He still wants to be left alone. And that’s when the paranoia sets in; what if they can track him through his power armor? His rifle? His very uniform? Better get rid of it, then.

Then there’s after the encounter with Maxon, when the cold of the night and the stone of the bunker truly begins to set in and seep into his skin. The least that the Sole Survivor can do is rummage for something in nearby ruins for him to wear. Or, say, if Nick Valentine or Hancock happens to be on the scene… Danse doesn’t expect it when the coat falls over his shoulders. But he doesn’t reject it either. The coat is warm, and he’s too cold and tired to care where or who it came from.

Second of all, the Symbolism and cinematic tension.

Quite simply, Danse has been exiled for the crime of existing as a Synth. Something he never even suspected in his life, something that’s left him- well, exposed. Quite literally, but it does a good job of hammering the point in. But at the same time, with some of the dialogue and actions, I feel like it makes it all the more meaningful.

He’s been stripped of his armor, his pride, and his very identity. He’s faced up against his entire world with nothing. He has nothing, yet, with the Sole Survivor’s encouragement, in the cold of night with Elder Maxon himself in front of him, he says no.

After everything, after he’s been left with literally nothing but wounded pride, he stands naked in front of the force he once listened to every word of and says that maybe he’s wrong. He stands up to his commander, exposed for everything he truly is in every way possible, and pretty much says You’re wrong, I have value, and I deserve to live, dammit!

And honestly? That’s fucking metal.

Pre-menstrual depression is always depicted as like "He He! I had a box of icecream bars and cried while watching the Titanic!" But in reality, it's more like, "I'm standing the edge of an abyss. There is nothing good inside of me, I'm filled with rage and desperation."

It's crazy that being told how to deal with that is never a part of anyone's menstrual sex education.

One of the weirdest thing about growing up suicidal is that you assume you have no future, you don’t even try to envision it because you see no point. So eventually, you start assuming everyone else sees nothing in your future either. Recently, my friend and I were talking and she said something about how at her wedding I could wear a suit or a dress as long as it matched her bridesmaid’s dresses because the butler of honor has to make a good impression. This hit me so hard because I had never realized before how other people thought about me. She said it so casually like it wasn’t even a hard decision, just a given fact. She loves me so much she saw me at her wedding, standing with her on one of the most important days of her life. And you know what? There are so many people who think about you that way. If that isn’t proof that you should keep going I don’t know what is.

i need this so bad and i only have like two people who actually do that and i rarely see them :')

comfortable silence

makes sure everyone closes doors silently and does not let them shut them loudly - will get angry if people disregard it. also warns you if an inevitable loud noise is going to happen so you can put your hands over your ears (like a door slamming shut because of a draft)

being hyped about the same thing and getting all excited together, rambling on an on about it

being in the same room but doing different things silently, fully content with it

learns that this feeling he has from time to time has a name. going non-vebal. and that it's absolutely okay

agreeing on/working out ways of doing specific things together - because some things just have a right way to be done. and that needs to be respected

reminding you not to be too hard on yourself

feels like the luckiest guy in the world when you share his interest and excitement for things
